Acid (2023)

How do you F up this script with such glaring errors
9 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand how this script got screwed up.

This level of acidic rain would have destroyed cellular equipment, as well as the tires on the cars.

But why is the tap water contaminated? There's no scientific rationale behind these flaws.

Other than that, the plot and general flow of the story is good. The premise is unbelievable because this concentration of acid rain wouldn't just suddenly appear. It would occur gradually.

When I come up with story ideas like this, I would quickly reach the realization that the premise is so flawed, it's not worth the time continuing. I'm dumbstruck that others just plow ahead without a care. Why can't they keep thinking up ideas until there's one that holds water?

So very bad, the worst dialog/writing I've ever witnessed
8 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
There are so many completely stupid lines in this movie. At one point they say that because the moon's orbit is changing, the months will become shorter - literally. Another, they use "light years" to describe time. It goes on and on like that. I can only suspect that the ex-cabinet of the last administration decided to make a movie because they clearly have zero interest in facts.

Utterly exhausting
28 October 2021
Anderson leaves just enough time between making his movies, that I forget how pointlessly exhausting they are.

Every scene is so uniquely special, they're almost short films in and of themselves. Trying to piece it all together isn't worth the energy.

We walked out halfway.

Timeless & Perfect
26 September 2021
Hard to believe that a sci-fi novel written 78 years ago could be so timeless. I read it in the mid 70s when I was about 14-15. I remember being swept away. I experienced thoughts and feelings that were new to me then, however I'd forgotten what they were; until I saw the first episode of this.

This is as perfect as it's possible to get.

The Rapture (1991)

30 years later, I find myself referencing this film
1 September 2021
Easily the most accurate movie regarding my spiritual existentialism, and my relationship to God if they existed. It takes Christianity to it's final assumption, where we find it flawed and f'd up. When I saw this in the theater it was being protested by Christians because it shone an unflattering and eye opening light on their chosen system of belief.

When the movie ended I was sobbing because I realized I would do exactly the same thing as the main character. It wasn't till today that I fully understood the meaning of that.

The creepiest thing I've seen in a very long time, deeply disturbing & worthwhile
16 June 2015
This is meant to be an extremely positive review, however it might not sound that way. This first episode was so disturbing I had to take a break. When I came back and finished it I had tears I'm my eyes from the disturbing feeling it invoked. This is not normally something I seek out in entertainment. But this is so well done, I simply can't avoid it. If I described the premise created in the first episode, it would sound tired and old; all the questions about artificial intelligence and it's rise equaling the fall of mankind. But somehow the writing, and story, and especially the actors create something new and exceptional. What happens here is inevitable someday. The questions are will we survive?
