Alice Through the Looking Glass (1998)
Worst movie I have ever seen
This sounds cruel but this movie is by far the worst movie I have ever seen. It was a hell to get through the whole movie. Multiple times we wanted to switch it of, but for a strange reason we kept watching till the end. Not that the movie got any better at all...
It might be because I have never read the book, but I found the story quite confusing. I didn't understand why Alice is played by Kate Beckingsale. If I'm correct I thought Alice was still a child... maybe I didn't pay enough attention because it was hard to keep watching it.
Never ever am I going to see this movie again!! So if I were you take another movie, you won't regret that choice.
Hasta la vista (2011)
A road trip like no other
I think this movie is absolutely amazing! And no that's not just because I'm Belgian. What makes this movie so great? It has got everything in it: one moment you will fall of your chair laughing, the other you will a tear escaping your eyes. It's got the drama, the humor,... everything you need in a good movie.
Another thing I love about this movie: its an original story. Unlike some other movies you will not mix up this movie with any other movie. It's a story the grasps your attention from the beginning of the movie and never loses it. You really sympathize with the characters. On top of that the acting of the three 'disabbled' persons is outstanding. They all shine in a different way. The chemistry between the trio (or perhaps I should say foursome) of actors comes across as very real.
I can only recommend everybody to watch this movie. You might not like it as much as I do, but you will definitely not hate it.
A Perfect Getaway (2009)
Has its pros and its cons
I just finished watching this movie and I have a really strange feeling about it. Usually I'm a great fan of thrillers and I really love movies with an unexpected end but this time they took it just a little to far if you ask me.
The thing that bothered me are the secret conversations the couple has. Why would they be so secretive about it. Why would he want to leave for the beach (what they didn't do). I could see only one explanation: he thought the couple was too crazy and he didn't want to become them. The other conversations you could interpret easier in this light. When they saw the picture of the couple they weren't checking if the other couple was the killers, they were checking if they looked enough like them to make them suspicious to the police. But still it is strange that they did it so secretive (or more accurately so "scared" because of course they had nothing to be scared of) so that the other couple could see they were talking about them. Another strange fact: why didn't they want to give the first couple a lift? If they were the killers it would be positive to meet new couples for two different reasons 1) to look for new victims 2)to make another couple look guilty
There are some hints that they are the killers from the beginning of the movie. First in the car, they are still learning their characters and what I thought was really obvious they really didn't seem in love at all8 On top of that I found they made the other couples just a little to suspicious. It was all to much, not slight hints but they just showed two 'crazy' couples. That made me think that they would be innocent 'cause you don't want to be your killers to be so obvious.
Conclusion: I'm not quite sure what to think of this movie. It could have been a great movie if it didn't had these things in it.
American Psycho (2000)
Cliché
My hopes for this movie were really high, because of the high score it got on IMDb and the many lists this movie appeared on.
In the beginning of the movie, I was really glad. Christian Bales character was a wealthy businessmen who's psychopathic side was hidden for his environment. But then the killing began and I was really disappointed!! Again psychopaths are shown as cold blooded murderers! But not all psychopaths are murderers! When I started to watch this movie I was hoping I was going to see a businessman psychopath. A person who manipulates everybody around him without having any empathy towards them. But not a person who kills almost everybody he meets.
A movie about an other kind of psychopath I would enjoy much more, I have it really hard with the cliché popular media idea of what psychopaths are. Showing a different kind of psychopath to the people would be a plus for the society.
Conclusion: a really cliché movie about a psychopath
Hide and Seek (2005)
Underrated movie
This is one of my all time favorite movies. I enjoyed this movie from beginning to end. I really don't understand how this movie gets such a low scores.
Some people really don't like the end, I on the other hand think the end is really deep and psychological. What can't be said for a lot of other thrillers (and especially not for horror movies. I don't really like movies where you can guess what will happen next. In hide and seek the end is unexpected, what makes it even better.
Every time I see this movie I am astonished how good Dakota Fanning her acting is, and that on such a young age.
I really love this movie! I can only recommend it to everybody.
