This show was great! Now it's gone?
14 June 2012
I'm quite surprised this show disappeared as quick as it showed up. Laura Prepon was great as the lead character, and all the supporting characters were perfect. Lauren Lapkus is hilarious and steals any scene she's in. The little guy was awesome. The dad was right on the money. The bartender/boyfriend was really capable in his role. The Asian roommate and the diminutive rival coworker were appealing. Even Chelsea Handler in her subdued role as an uptight young mother was acceptable. This show was a typical modern comedy and needed a chance to grow an audience. I'm puzzled how the network could make decisions to air a sitcom like this, just to scrap it so soon. Should I stop watching TV?

Give us Season Three, please!
11 May 2012
This show is a case study on how to grow and develop a character-driven comedy series with smart casting. The six characters work well together as nicely as any other current sit-com stars can do these days, and the six actors here transcend any goofy situation with masterful timing and delivery. The season two finale was a slam-dunk with Dan O'Brien (Mark) finally zeroing in on Roxanne and making it count, and Rhea Seehorn's response was the kind of thing that sells DVD box sets. Whitney is a hot-blooded chick who is believable playing herself. The boyfriend is a champ. Tone Bell is cool, and Zoe is outrageously talented no matter what silly direction they have her going in. And Mark and Roxanne have the momentum to be a modern Fred and Ethel. We're glad the network gave this show enough time to progress, and we want some more. Compare this show to Friends, which lasted nine or ten years, and remove any Ross/Rachel nostalgia, and Whitney still stacks up.
