Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (2018)
Brilliant! Ahead of its time... A deserving cult classic
Mature and tigh direction more than makes up for a simplistic plot ... Not to mention its ...Acting performances by a few key characters is notable ...while others may fail to register a mark.
But...god the concept ...it lives on ... Its fantastic because it sets right in synch with the present and realistic context ...unbelievably.
A mind-blowing attempt at an origin tale for India's very own superhero genre with a visual power and cinematography closely comparable to that of marvel/DC ones.
Only one regret... Missing this one out on cinema.
A true masterpiece!
The Good Dinosaur (2015)
Beautiful movie... Loved it!
This is one of the must haves at home for kids. I am a 27yo adult stilll enjoyed this through and through. Beautiful story... Beautiful music... This really is one of the best animated pieces by Pixar. Only a few movies move me enough to write a review.
The Originals: When the Saints Go Marching In (2018)
A Perfect End to the best show on Vampire Bromance
Elijah keeping his vow to the very last of his breath. Just beautifully painful ending to an amazing series. Klaus did earn the redemption his elder brother was looking for his entire life. Well written show... Brilliant performance by Daniel and Joseph... And that last scene with their immortal bodies finally turning to ash... was just as breathtaking as agonizing! True bromance indeed. Wish there were more TV shows written and delivered with such conviction.
The Vampire Diaries: Death and the Maiden (2013)
10 on 10 for that opening sequence by Paul Wesley
Loved it ... just loved the way they made Paul Wesley (Stefan/Silas) vent out his emotions in that first scene at the bus stop. It was comical and yet relatable... I could easily say it was one of the best acts he pulled off in the series till now.
Sophie's Choice (1982)
Dark, Painful and Powerful!
Watching this movie makes me realize what makes a cinema 'larger that life' ... amazing performances by Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline. Was already a big time fan of Meryl Streep... and this is probably one of those most brilliant, brilliant performances by her!
A YouTube video about Meryl's top 10 performances led me to this ... and it was worth the time... yes the film is sad and shaking, but the characters are not only lovable but those which stay with you for a while.
Came here for Meryl and became a big fan of Kevin too! Two poor souls and yet a beautiful end... those were the words the movie left me with. Overall a good old classic with the most moving music & sound effects there ever could be.
Personally, I feel Peter MacNicol did a good job as Stingo but that is that. Nathan's Character and Kevin's out-of-the-world portrayal of a schizophrenic & a passionate lover will at times sweep you off your feet.
No surprise this won Meryl, her first Oscar... Sophie's character is equally power-packed... a sophisticated, talented, pretty lady who conceals... behind her pleasing love life (at least for her) a soul- wrenching story about a mother who had to make an agonizing choice!
Ahalya (2015)
Excellent Short Thriller Film! Radhika Apte is Gorgeous and so is the Script!!
Sujoy Ghosh steals the show with his amazing direction. Though the film has only a handful of characters. They all play there part brilliantly well. Radhika Apte as Ahalya aptly sketches out the portrayal of a seductive, bold and mysterious woman.
Other two actors in the lead do a great job as well. Tota Roy Chowdhary as the Inspector is evidently noticeable with his work. The veteran actor, Soumitra Chaterjee looks convincing enough too in his role as the husband.
For me, quite satisfactorily the film presents a different (and preferably the better) take on the legend of the blissful marriage of Rishi Gautam & Ahalya, the lustful deceit by Indra and an impaling verdict for the duped wife, as told and retold with the epic tale of 'Ramayana'.
Talaash (2012)
Brilliant?? No! Overratted?? Yes!
For the first time I've seen an Indian movie so overrated on IMDb. Idk how?....well I guess even I gave it an extra pt. Maybe cause of.....well seriously idk.
Amir,Rani, Kareena all are good... but the thing is they are just 'good'...the movie is too dark and too slow too handle... there are scenes which seriously cud better be cut off.
Idk watching too much Hollywood is it... or what? But at least I found the story dull and predictable... there was a mess u wanted to touch the supernatural, cud have done it better that whole writing the letter...uh duh!...c'mon give me something.
Then there was this whole murdered prostitute who seeks revenge thing...aaagh again too boring and repeated n number of times in various cinema.
And buoy oh buoy I'm still trying to figure out why the hype with all the performances... Amir din't do an extraordinary job (playing the poker faced cop except for the last shot), and same goes with Rani (same old same old depressed mother and desperate housewife :p)...Kareena's expressions seemed to impress but the dialogues ugh!!! Huh in short... Nice try! Not-so-thrilling Chills! So-so story! Cud have done better! Not really 'out-of the world' performances! Everybody was just acting as if they were acting for god sake.
