Hundreds of Beavers (2022)
Truly a Love-It or Hate-It movie
I haven't laughed this much through a movie in ages. Maybe ever.
But it will be a polarizing title, because you're either going to love it or hate it - not much room for a middle ground.
Some of the jokes are predictable and you can guess them right before they happen, but they're still satisfying. However, a bunch of the time, you're also wondering where on earth the movie is going. Fortunately, they introduce a plot device with goals or side quests to keep the plot progressing.
The film is surprisingly gory, but the fluffy stuffed-animal nature of it makes it all the more hilarious. I could have done without a couple sexual jokes, as those will keep me from showing the movie to my kids. But this movie knows what it is and embraces it.
This is one of the weirdest, silliest films I have ever seen, and I highly recommend you watch it with friends, not alone.
Voyage of the Chimera (2021)
Impressively wooden acting and no ending
This is not a standalone movie, and there is no ending - just a "to be continued" when the picture drops. Which is pretty much the final nail in the coffin. The effects are middling, the writing weak, and the acting really wooden, but all of that could have been forgiven if it was a complete story. Unfortunately, it ends without resolving a single major plot point or exploring a number of worldbuilding issues that were merely mentioned. The pacing is really slow within scenes but then characters have to tell us they've been there for a while because there is no passage of time between scenes. Sadly cannot recommend watching this.
Jurassic Island (2022)
It's a stinker, but we laughed a lot
You'd expect a movie called Jurassic island with a dinosaur on the poster to be about dinosaurs, but strangely, zombies are the main feature. Which might be a good thing, considering the zombies were far more believable than the poorly composited, horribly animated dinos. None of them looked like they were in the environment, all of the raptor and t-Rex arms were frozen awkwardly in place, and there's no way the animator even referenced a plastic dinosaur, because they mistook the t-rex's ankle for a second knee, leading to the oddest shaped, most bizarre walk cycle I've ever watched.
We laughed a ton, but not at anything intentionally added to the script.
We were also rooting for everyone to die, but you'll have to watch it to find out.
