Platypus Man (1995)
I loved this show.... Richard Jeni will be missed... :(
12 March 2007
I never missed an episode of this show. It was EXTREMELY FUNNY! All the romantic woes of Richard's characters attempts to mate frequently, but spending most of his time alone were a source of great laughter for me and my then girlfriend. I hope that it comes out on DVD soon.

One of my favorite episodes had to do with the woman he was dating that turned out to have a female lover on the side and was bisexual! I laughed at it because I actually had that experience in real life before and found his response to it very amusing, and so typically neurotic of the Platypus man!!!!

Meanwhile, Richard Jeni's apparent suicide makes this posting rather sad now... He will be greatly missed by his many fans....

Great show continuing a great tradition
1 June 2004
One of the reasons why I loved the original DeGrassi series was that I was a teenager/college student at the time and could very well relate to Snake and Joey and a lot of the things which went down. Unlike other pithy teen shows of the 80s, the original DeGrassi dealt with issues in a more realistic fashion--it didn't always have a happy ending for the characters and would often end with no obvious resolution.

Degrassi: Next is following in this same tradition. I'm really happy that they have the quartet of Snake, Spike, Joey and Caitlin on the show, with Mr. Raditch having grown more authoritarian in his old age, as would be expected in his becoming a principal. I also like the fact that actions have consequences and there are no easy resolutions for things because that's the way life is. The show doesn't come across as preachy or predictable and unlike such idiotic shows like 90210 and The OC, it doesn't have 20 year olds playing teens, nor does it set itself up with lots of skinny, gorgeous teens with perfect skin--the kids can be short, fat, have zits and so forth. They look like real kids, not models posing for headshots.

As a father, I think this show can help lead to open discussions with your child or teen about such issues because there are times when you have to draw your own conclusion thanks to the lack of resolution by show's end.

This Just In (2004)
Brilliant political humor
3 May 2004
The guy who came up with this show is a freaking Genius! He has more conservative views than other political satire (Think Mallard Fillmore) but at the same time doesn't hesitate to pop in a few jabs at some conservatives who are over the top as well (John Ashcroft).

Hu and Craig Tindle's relationship is also one of the funniest parts of the show. The phone ringing "rrrow-snickta", him trying to lie to Hu when he doesn't realize she's right in front of him and getting dragged back home by her, etc. has really beefed up the humor immensely. I think the funniest parts where Craig has gotten as much of the upper hand as he'll ever get with Hu were in the Episode where they went to Vegas (Craig did everything wrong and kept on winning) and the episode where Craig got Arnold Schwarzeneggar to get the bar owner out of jail by saying he was his cousin Craig "Tindle-neggar". The ending scene with Craig and Ahhhhnold at Hooter's, with Arnold goading him to grope the Hooter's girl had me rolling on the floor, laughing my @$$ off!!!

Keep this show on TV!!!

Anyone know where this one can be gotten on Video?
27 April 2004
This movie is actually a very amusing almost softcore Eurotrash film. The English dub is actually kind of Hilarious--especially the scene with that business dude and the daughter of his associate pretending to be praying while nude as he hid under the bed so as to fool her dad! And the gay guy at the phone booth--too funny!!!

This is considered a form of 70s raunch--but really it's actually quite tame compared to some of the stuff that's R-rated these days. The disco-lounge music playing while the business dude was getting boinked just made the movie more funny!!!

I've wanted to get this one on VHS for years but nobody has it! Anyone who can help????
