Odessa humor the kind of self pity with bit of Jewish saddens in dead-end reality of the present days.
8 December 2009
If you enjoy the Odessa humor the kind of self pity with bit of Jewish saddens in dead-end reality of the present days (in particular time, Soviet and post Soviet times) you are in for a treat. The film was shown as a part of Russian Film Festival in Chicago, before it came out in movie theaters in Moscow and other cities of former USSR. The film is full with nostalgia, good memories and elements of fairy tail. Being familiar with both cities Chicago and Odessa as well understanding the nature of Ex-Soviet Russian speaking immigrants in America and present and former Odessians ( Odessa Residents) I could say creators of the movie found and show really good depictions of main characters in a film. The cast of the film is excellent, seeing such talent of Soviet and Russian cinema as Armen Dzhijerhanyan, Roman Kartsev, Aleksanr Ponkratov-Cherniy and Stanislav Sadalsky as well as a new young actors was a real treat.

Story of love and nostalgia
25 October 2007
Story of the man's love for a his dead family ( son and wife during the Holocaust), which make him blind to the love of his present family. It is the story of unconditional love of the son to his father. It is also story of the boy growing up in 1960's Tel Aviv, with a great admiration of Kirk Douglas portrayer of cinema version of Spartacus, which cosign him to do several actions carried by the love to his father. It is a very deep movie full of love and nostalgia for Israel of early 1960's. I sow the movie at Chicago Festival of Israeli Cinema, so if you will be able to catch the movie at your local theater or on DVD don't miss it.

The Great parody for American, French, Italian and Russian movies of 60's and
2 March 2005
Ograblenie po…. is one of the best examples of the talent of Soviet cartoonists in late Soviet era (70's, 80,s). The cartoon is full of parody for American, French, Italian and Russian movies of 60's and 70's. The plot is similar for all of them – It is a bank robbery and it is done in a movie fashion of each country cartoon is making spoof on . You will be able to recognize the actors which were popular in each of the countries during that time. The cartoon is really funny, when I watched as kid, it still make me smile as an adult 20 years later. The cartoon went through some controversy with a soviet censors when it came out. They even had to cut some of the footage which they thought was not suitable for a Soviet audience. If you get a hand for a full version of the movie you will have a great time, however the cut version is good too.
