A touching drama about a CIA hit-man
19 May 2014
Kevin Costner plays the part of Ethan, an aging hit-man who gave up on his personal life, distancing himself from his wife and his daughter for the sake of his career and then discovers he's dying from cancer and only has a few months left to live.

Ethan decides to spend his remaining time trying to back together with his daughter and ex-wife, however, he is offered an experiment drug, that may extend his life, if he returns to work.

This leaves him with a dilemma, should he spend his remaining time with his family, or spend his time doing what kept him from his family for a chance at more time with his family.

The action scenes are both enjoyable and original, as they often have a twist you won't see in most films.

This movie has a mixture that is seldom found of action, comedy and drama.

The missing parts from Arn: The Knight Templar (2007)
22 February 2014
The story is good, the script is good, the acting is good, however, the cut wasn't so good.

There are a few holes in the plot of "Arn: The Knight Templar (2007)" which this movie fills in, together with a few repetitions of scenes (with the same footage), so that the movie is watchable.

Is seems like the editor didn't want the original movie to extend beyond two hours, so he cut some of the scenes out.

Personally I would have preferred one longer movie than one movie and then another with the missing scenes, however, both movies were good.

Hopefully, some day someone will edit the two into one complete movie.

P.S. I gave the first one 8/10 and only 7/10 to the second because I felt it wasn't distinctive enough from the first.

Zombies in space
15 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Yet another zombie movie! ... in space.

If the crew would have seen the Doctor Who special - The waters of Mars (2009) or if they had any training in dealing with biological contamination, they wouldn't have ended up like this.

The movie starts out in an interesting manner, then slowly deteriorates into a classic zombie movie plot, where the dead don't die and they feed off the living.

To summarize things up:

a. The zombie plot is unoriginal. b. The basic contamination on Mars, a risk to Earth plot has already been done in a Doctor Who special. c. The acting was convincing. d. The effects were convincing. e. No amount of acting and effects could save the movie from itself.

A blend of comedy with a quest to defend our planet against an alien invasion
24 September 2013
This movie takes unlikely heroes who join the neighborhood (actually the town) watch, each for his own reason and with his own issues, throws them together into the unexpected where they are forced to work together to save mankind from aliens and deal with their personal life while they are at it.

The movie combines American humor (Ben Steller, Vince Vaughn and etc.) with Sci-Fi, with a little (not too much) slap-humor, in a way that is more common in British Sci-Fi.

The result - a fun movie to watch for people that love to laugh about their Sci-Fi.

A wonderfully dark comedy...
19 September 2013
A wonderfully dark comedy of a man living with a paralysing fear which is intensified by his profession. At some point he is forced to try and overcome his fear and in order to do that, he is forced to find and accept the root cause of his condition.

This is a comedy of accidents and chance with a dark, morbid atmosphere of murder. Where the boundaries between imagination and reality are tested with a touch of British humour that is conveyed in a typical Simon Pegg fashion.

If you liked Burke and Hare or Hot Fuzz, then this movie is definitely for you.

A TV series pilot filmed in the wrong language and misrepresented as a movie.
3 September 2013
The film starts out nicely... a teen that suddenly discovers she can time travel and is unprepared for it. Builds up with hidden secrets and uncertainty in who can be trusted. Then the plot stutters with foes added from nowhere with no introduction and ends with a teen cliché instead of with an actual ending to the plot.

If this movie was presented as the opening of a TV series, the lack of closure could be overlooked, however, this is not the case.

To make this all worse, the entire plot takes place in England, however, the entire movie is in German!? (With names of places in English stuck in mid-sentence in a way that just doesn't sound right.)

An insult to intelligence.
29 April 2012
This show attempts to make science fiction less scientific and more childish while leaving out complicated notions in addition to science such as plausible plot, drama and wit.

Simple scientific knowledge from over 100- 200 years ago are displayed as mystic and unexplainable and the plot has holes big enough in it to build a warehouse in them.

At times it seems like the show is based on the movie "The Secret", which those of that have not seen the movie can rest easily knowing that they have not wasted time on mystic lack of education coaching pyramid (an attempt on my behalf not to insult those appearing in that load of...).

Near the end of the season the writers attempt to add a plot to the story, however, this is simply a small patch applied too late and too superficial.
