Grace (2021)
Superiorly asinine scripting
If this is how police behave in Real life it would be amazing if any criminal with half a mind would ever get caught. Every procedure used in this series is so utterly inane that one must wonder which grade level the writers and directors failed at. The acting is generally adequate given the poor quality of the scripts provided. Spoiler: of special note is in the third show of the third series where Grace's assistant is to untie the bound victim; it would probably have been helpful if he were at least looking at the poorly tied knot he was attempting to untie. Ell, to satisfy the six hundred character rule, in that same episode, yelling police stop from a hundred yards away, about 90 meters, would probably not be advised in real life. Also the ensuing foot chase would probably have been more successful if Grace actually had the ability to cut the fleeing miscreant off at some point.
Irreverent (2022)
Irreverent is votrect
Irreverent to the soul. A cliche ridden hot mess set in a town of whackos and a fool on the run. As you watch the first episode have a drink everytime you correctly predict the outcome of each cliche. You will be drunk halfway through. A bit woke. A bit sad. A lot foolish. And blah, blah blah blah. The second episode is no better. Dialogue ripped right out of every disgusting sit om ever watched. Just blithering here to get 600 words in. Pretty stupid requirement if you ask me. Elon Musk is a modern day genius. Oh, and the lead character is a baffoon and a fool. All of the characters are stock for a substandard sitcom. Fools are not funny. Quit making shows about fools.
Planet Dune (2021)
Real dog doo
Another perversion of a classic canon. Real horrific dialog, acting, direction, production, and graphics. Waste of time viewing this bad movie. Warning Will Robinson.
Walker (2021)
No improvement in season two
Well, the acting has not improved one iota. Of course, with the writing being so bad what would one suspect? Also, the directing is totally sophomoric. So combine that all with the tired tropes, boring cliches, and pretentious cinematography one ends up with a show that must be fast forwarded in order not to puke from the terribly trite trash presented by the producers. If you have no standards, minimal education, or you are younger than 16, this show is for you.
Trigger Point (2022)
Totally mental
The writers are totally mental. The lead character is a stereotypical lunatic macho twit (she us is woman portraying a cliched renegade prone member of some kind of bomb squad. The best scene so far is when they get rid of the stupid mental brother. The supporting characters come off as totally unprofessional guardians. The influence of crap American writing is palpable. The lead character has two modes; deranged brooding and deranged psychosis. Action scenes are laughable. Dialog is marginal. If you are drunk or stoned this show might be fun.
Outer Range (2022)
Not looking good
Don't know the premise but it looks to be some kind of scifi trope. I do not have high hopes (I am just minutes into the first episode) as thhe lead character seems to be bat💩 crazy. A rational human would have said, upon entry into the home after encountering the anomaly, Sheriff lady, I need to show you something. Instead he starts throwing stuff into the weird hole. The due has serious issues. Not really ready for another melodrama.
Foundation (2021)
A pocket full of rye
Take a Science Fiction classic. Pull out all of the names from the first few books in the series. Pull plot lines, tropes, and places from other unrelated books, written by different authors. Throw in some silly woke tropes. Shove the lot into a knowledge based application along with some outdated themes. Call the resulting mish-mash Foundation. Send the result to some talentless editors, greedy producers, and vain glorious directors. Shove the resulting sci-fi turn onto a wannabe streaming service. The result is something totally different than the FOUNDATION. Enjoy if you can.
Dune (2021)
Hope part 2 releases soon
The essence of the novels was maintained. Few deviations from the plot line. Enjoyed every minute. Part 1 ends at a really good point in the story. Watch this movie. Watch in IMAX if you can.
La Brea (2021)
Bad Mojo
Absolutely everything about this soap opera stinks to high heaven. I cannot imagine a family sitting aroun the den and watching this show. I can percieve no redesming qualities for the show. Well one, eye candy but nothing more.
Rebel (2021)
Could have been great
Great performers. Poorly written characters. Totally immature characters and dloppy slapstick.
Trauma Center (2019)
So bad
In the realm of stupid the writers of this movie are eorking really hard to fit in amongst the stupidest. The dialog sucks, the characters are two dimensional, and I just could not see any redeeming qualities in the principal characters.
Good Witch (2015)
Fun to watch
This show is fun to watch on a rainy or otherwise boring day. I like most of the arcs and most of the character. I would recommend the show to most people. I have one pet peeve. Most of the characters are nosey and generally wretched. I haven't decided if this is part of the charm or not.
The South Westerlies (2020)
Just what the heck
The character Kate is one messed up person. Sneaky, secretive, uncoordinated, and totally just awkward. The rest of the characters are a bunch of walking cliches. Gonna give this some more time. Maybe the story or characters might develop some redeeming values.
Another Life (2019)
Another waste of effort
Another trite soap opera about stupid people in positions where intelligence and training are a requirement. Still waiting for a scifi series where the characters exhibit intelligence and good judgement. Please no more juvenile spoiled talentless actors.
Dolittle (2020)
Absolutely marvelous flight of fantasy
This is a most entertaining movie which can be enjoyed by all. An absolutely marvelous flight of fantasy and a worthy reimagining of a classic concept.
Murder City: Wives and Lovers (2006)
Willful Ignorance
Writers rely on willfull ignorance to further the confusion and mis-direction. Sldo rely on badic assumptions of stupidity. In season two, episode one, why didn't the guy fallen upon take a step in any direction? More. If you ignore the aholeness of most of the characters then a passable watch if you have abdolutely nothing else to fo.
Midway (2019)
Wretched from every perspective
My gosh, the dialog is the worst and it is delivered in the worst acting style I have ever seen. The characters are almost two-dimensional. They could have been really sophisticated cutouts created by the company that does South Park. I am sooo glad I didn't pay at the Theater or online to watch this. Thank goodness for fast forward!
Years and Years (2019)
Propaganda or Entertainment
I like many of the actors and they are all doing an admirable job. I do think there is a bit of propaganda and interference by foreigners in American politics. I guess we have to put up with propaganda nowadays. As this is on HBO the politicaleanings of the show are not surprising.
The Blacklist: Twamie Ullulaq (No. 126) (2020)
Stupidest characters
If one were to believe the writers of this episode, the new criteria for becoming an FBI agent, aside from being corrupt like the real FBI, is to meet an IQ metric: must not be over 95.
Also, the dialog really sucks.
Thank god for the bad guys.
Hunters (2020)
Not a good beginning
The writers of this show need to be severely chastised, at least in their characterization of the lehrman character. He is a complete coward and idiot when he needs to be the opposite, when trying to sell drugs and when there is an intruder in his house as an example. But he is rude, mean, and a bully to his friends and anyone he thinks poses no physical threat. Not a great central character. The other characters are not much better. If I can stomach watching more my opinion may change.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Flaws as expected hope for better
Patric Stewart is old. He may still be able to pull this one off. Nostalgia factor held my interest for most of the premier episode. I hope they get some better writing and direction. I didn't find anything hateful about the acting.
The Blacklist (2013)
The absolute stupidest FBI agent around
I have held off reviewing this show as James Spader and the bad guys are jewels. FBI agent Liz however has sawdust for brains and an attitude not backed up by capability. Taking a first for stupidest FBI agent, her partner is in a close second place. If this were a parody that would bereasonable.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Juvenile beginning
First season primitive graphics. Characters one and two dimensional. Predictable plots. Michael is a closed minded, bigoted, reactionary character not worthy of empathy. Most if the characters are also pretty bigoted and closed minded. Thank goodness for skip ahead.
Second season graphics a bit better. Ship motion through space better in original Star Trek. Characters are still one and two dimensional with soap opera like dialog, direction, and acting. Later episodes are getting a bit better. Never liked Mudd episodes. Again, thanks for the application skip ahead feature. Dialog really bad. Michael continues to be a very flawed character, though very well acted, I wonder how much better the show would be if there were some decent writers and directors involved.
Third Season: hope things improve. Tracking this show and Picard are the only reasons I got CBS All Access.
Virgin River (2019)
A two for stupid opening scene
Only watched the opening scene tonight. 1. Anyone that cannot drive at night with a truck tailgating them without freaaking out should not drive at night. 2. Voluntarily crashing into the side of the road and landing in a ditch. See number one.
Opening a new show with so many stupid cliches does not portend well for the rest of the writing. And 3. The cantankerous old dude in a pickup come to the rescue, co cell service, and potentially slow tow truck service are three more cliches. In the first frreaking five minutes,
The Accident (2019)
Initial reaction without watching yet
Premis: juvenile delinquents trespass on a construction site. Tragedy ensues (as expected). In the trailer one of the parents queries "Who is responsible?". Maybe the parents for raising juvenile delinquents? I will watch a bit but I do not expect anything more than tired and trite cliches and little if any real acting, oh and lots of shouting in place of real emoting.
