House (1985)
Dark but humorous
I used to love this movie back in the 80's and watching it again on DVD brought me some good memories besides having some fun with it again. I used to think this as a classic horror movie, and watching it today, I still consider this to be great ( THE PART I ONLY, BECAUSE HOUSE II IS ONE OF THE WORST MOVIES EVER MADE ) although the "special" Efx here are nowadays ( I think ) more laughable than scary, specially the "fat witches" that appear on the house. Its a trash horror cult, with some really dark hints ( the whole thing about the main character aunt ) , but overall more of a dark comedy movie. recommendable, if you take in account that this is an 80's low budget movie so don't expect "incredible" special effects on it.
The Evil Dead (1981)
worst movie ever !!!!!!!
this movie is probably the most ridiculous and cheesy I've ever seen. I've seen it 3 times or more; I don't know if this was scary for the early 80's ( movies like these maybe inspired gore bands like Cannibal Corpse years latter ) but for these days I watch Evil Dead and only see myself laughing at the extremely lousy effects, the poor characters, all the "ketchup and red ink" gore anyone can make alike at home and most of all the way juvenile plot for this. I think I'd only recommend this movie for 14 year old kids into black metal who think they are the most "evil" kids on their area. pure garbage this is what you get with this !!!!!! I can't believe anyone can dare to call this piece of scum a "classic" of the horror genre.
The Funeral (1996)
Whoah, this movie almost put me to fall asleep
Being sincere, I didnt really like it. the only good point on this film for me is the excellent acting of most of the cast. But it lacks action, violence, emotion present in other Gangster movies and also a more interesting plot. Some of the artists on this worked on *The Last Don* which is a far better production, both in terms of plot and in terms of action. This is not a bad movie as one would think by my comments. It only lacks lots more action indispensable to gangster movies, so if you watch it expecting to see only a drama, maybe youll be satisfied, but if you watch it to see gangster wars, families, bosses, etc you[ll be dissapointed.
The Last Don (1997)
a cool gangster movie
A good altought not exceptional gangster movie, ( Goodfellas is still the best one to me ). Danny Aiello and Rory Cochrane characters are great on this movie. However I think that Kirstie Alley should look for comedy movies because I think that this type of film is not exactly what shes skilled for. I think they should have added a bit more of sadistic/cruel violence which is a indispensable *sauce* to movies like this ( check out Goodfellas and Casino to know what I am talking about ). Not really a classic, But still reccomendable if you like Mafia movies. as far as I know this one was exhibited as a TV serie in United States, but I think I have never seen this movie on TV.
