A prime example of why Mystery Science Theater 3000 should return to television.
29 December 2007
I can't rant enough about how bad this movie was. The actors were terrible, the movie was basically without a plot or a story, and there were so many clichés it wasn't even funny. As i wanted to smash my face into a wall after seeing this, there was only one good thing about this. Predator was still a crazy badass as always. But let's start with the bad. 1: The acting. Is there anyone worse than Steven Pasquale? I mean, God, his name is Dallas in the movie, his one liners are corny as hell, and he's just a plain loser. Then there's Johnny Lewis AKA Ricky, who is a Paul Walker wannabe. And that's saying something. When Paul Walker would make this movie better, you know you're watching a bad movie. 2: The story or lack thereof. Here's a summary: predalien is born, predator ship crashes into hicktown USA, predators all die, people die, people die, people die, meet loser Dallas and cop, people die, people die, people die, meet main Predator, meet loser Ricky, Ricky gets his ass kicked, people die, people die, people die, meet Army chick, main Predator comes to earth, people die, people die, people die, predator and aliens fight, people die, people die, people die, loser Ricky makes out with hot girl, people die, people die, people die, another pointless conversation between loser Dallas and cop, people die, people die, people die, people decide to group together and die, people die, people die, people die, predator and aliens fight, people die, people die, people die, army drops nuclear bomb on city killing everyone and aliens and predator, loser Dallas and Ricky and army chick all survive, the end. 3: The plot holes. There is so much that is not explained in this movie. 4: The horror movie clichés. A lot of stuff is used and reused by this movie that already has been used in other horror movies, such as: "Oh there's no monsters outside, dear" (shines light outside and monster jumps in and kills him). Also, someone tries to climb out a window and gets pulled back in by an alien, and then blood sprays on the window. There are many more also. In the end, it's plain and simple: if you are a fan of the alien and the predator series, DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE!!!! you will be sorely disappointed. These kind of movies make me wonder why they got rid of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Shutter (II) (2004)

finally a good horror movie that actually creeped me out...
26 March 2006
Warning: Spoilers
THERE ARE A FEW SPOILERS IN HERE SO Don't READ UNLESS YOU REALLY WANT TO!!!! First of all, i don't usually comment any movies on here unless they're either really bad or really good. Fortunately for everyone, this movie is the latter...I haven't really watched too many foreign horror movies, so when my friend told me i had to check this one out, i was like "sure, why not?" not really knowing what i was getting into. my friend told me beforehand that the movie had scared every one of the other people he had watched it with and i doubted him since i haven't really been truly scared of a movie since the first night of the living dead. boy was i wrong... first of all, this movie is not for the faint of heart....it really is scary as crap....the actors are quite good too. some are really creepy which makes the movie even creepier. First of all there's Tun the lead character who does an excellent job expressing his feelings in the movie whether it be his depression, fear, or confusion... then there's his girlfriend Jane whos kinda just really annoying most of the time.... and then there's the ghost Natre who i must say has the creepiest makeup I've ever seen...the scenes where shes on the car and when shes freaking Tun out when hes taking pictures and when shes sitting at the edge of his bed pulling the covers off....oh god i couldn't sleep that night i watched it after that scene....all in all this movie is highly recommended for anyone looking for a good scare or just anyone wanting to watch a good mystery... so unless you cant watch movies and read subtitles or just cant stand horror flicks watch this movie...the twist at the end is quite interesting and thought provoking yet weird and disturbing....just remember that Tun has neck pains..........10 out of 10

Do you want to know more....NOOOOOOO!!!!!!
18 September 2004
What the heck were they thinking when they did this movie??!?!!!! There is nothing that really relates to the first movie except for the bugs!!! No one even wanted or thought that there was a need for a sequel to a great movie!!! Don't EVER, I repeat, EVER watch this movie if you liked the first movie... EVER!!!! There wasn't even decent enough special effects on the bugs... they were very fake looking....and was there enough money to move to a different place??? I guess not, seeing as how they stayed in the exact same deserted base throughout the movie... and don't even get me started on the acting because there was none... and was there any need for the random nudity???? I mean, I don't mind, but there was no reason for them to do that... The only seemingly okay crap in this was the violence... some of it was nicely done... like the girl chopping off the guys head with a meat cleaver and microwaving it to fry the bug in his brain... or the bug stabbing the guy through the back of the head and the claw coming through his face... but thats it!!! LOW BUDGET MOVIE, LOW BUDGET ACTORS, LOW BUDGET EFFECTS, LOW BUDGET EVERYTHING!!!! Lets hope that they don't get another idea to make a third ... this film isn't worth the rental.....

Akira (1988)
Wow....great stuff....
18 September 2004
My friend kept pressuring me to see this movie, and when I finally did, I was not disappointed... This film, along with others films like Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away, is very visually amazing... I was impressed by the visuals of this late 1980's anime... I had read the comics before I watched it, though, and was somewhat disappointed when I saw they didn't include all of the story in it... very violent, too, which I liked...and very weird at some parts and hard to follow but still in a whole it was very very good... definitely worth a rent or buy... or you could find a friend who has the movie and borrow it from them like I did...so if your a manga/anime fan, watch it and bask in its glory...

Conan is the funniest talk show host ever...
3 September 2004
Conan O'Brien is the best, no doubt about it. He beats Jay Leno, David Letterman, Craig Kilborn, and Carson Daly by a long shot. Almost all of Conan's jokes are hilarious and even if they aren't, he has a backup joke of his own to fill in. Triumph the Insult Comic Dog is also hilarious, not just with his skits, but with his songs. Who cares if he's offensive, everyone who stays up at night has to watch Conan, he's never the same on any of the shows unless they're reruns, but he brings back popular stuff like "If They Mated" and "The Walker Texas Ranger Lever". And the skits with the lips of Arnold Schwartzenegger, George Bush, and Martha Stewart are especially funny. And if you miss the show at 12:30 at night, you can watch it the next day on Comedy Central, and if you don't have cable, then you're screwed. Bottom line, Conan is awesome, no one should put him down, he's always gut bustingly funny and fun to watch.

The Venture Bros. (2003–2018)
I guess not too many people have seen this...
28 August 2004
If you haven't seen this show, take the time and watch it... its on at 11:00 on Saturdays or 12:30 on Sundays if you missed it on Saturday... it stars Patrick Warburton, you know, Joe from Family Guy..... and everyone loves Family Guy... Adult Swim hits the bullseye again with another sure to be hit show... its funny, its weird, its randomly violent, and it doesn't let up until the end... it definitely shows parodies to Johnny Quest and other old TV shows... I mean, I like it, and you're sure to like it too... unless you're a grouch who doesn't like to stay up past your bedtime... or if you just don't have a good enough sense of humor... yeah... if you like all the other shows on Adult Swim, this will fit in nicely...

Spider-Man 2 (2004)
Everything any person should want in a movie, darn it!!!!
1 July 2004
Warning: Spoilers
Ahhh...... Spiderman 2.... what can I say... this movie was awesome. I love you, Spiderman! First, let's talk about the acting. Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, Alfred Molina, Rosemary Harris, and James Franco. Tobey Maguire, I must say, did a really good job of showing emotions, using humor, and giving Peter Parker/Spiderman a good character. Kirsten Dunst, still hot from the first movie gave another good performance. Rosemary Harris did an excellent performance with her experience in acting. Wow, Alfred Molina poured his heart into his performance of Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus, in fact, I don't think anyone else could have done a better job of being the scientist turned villain. And James Franco, still good and without Willem Dafoe this time, not that it's a bad thing.

Now, the story...SPOILERS, OH MY GOSH!!!...

Peter Parker's life is thrashed and abused throughout the movie, and it left me feeling depressed and feeling bad for him, which made me happy because movies don't usually do that to me. Because of his life being thrashed, he begins to lose his powers and ultimately decides to stop leading a double life and throws his Spiderman costume in the trash. But when chaos erupts in the streets after he becomes Peter Parker again, he decides to become Spiderman again.

On the other hand, there's Otto Octavius, a brilliant scientist who is trying to perfect interesting scientific stuff...you know what I mean... During a public experiment, though, while using his super special brain-powered tentacles, the experiment goes awry and his wife is killed along with his tentacles permanently attaching to his nervous system. He blacks out and is taken to a hospital in one of the most intense scenes that's not in a horror or war movie I have ever seen. Sam Raimi, the director of Spiderman, as many know, also directed Evil Dead, a really gory and cool B-movie, and this scene is hinting to the Evil Dead movie, I think. Anyways, the tentacles go crazy and kill all the doctors in the room and the doctors use chainsaws, yay!!! Well, Doc Ock decides to finish his crazy experiment in a rundown laboratory near the Brooklyn Bridge and Spidey goes to stop it and I'm not going to ruin that for you...

On yet another hand, Mary Jane Watson, Harry Osborne, and Aunt May all have their problems with Spidey and Peter Parker. MJ has problems with Peter because he can't make time for her important things like her hit play on Broadway. Harry troubles Pete because of his "friendship" with Spidey. Aunt May troubles him with money problems and when Pete tells her the truth about Uncle Ben's death, she shuns him for a while...

Finally, the graphics and sound... The first really cool sequence was when Octavius's experiment went awry; the sound was truly cool and the graphics went well with it... and Octavius's arms were looking real. Then Spidey and Ock's fight on the subway had me shaking in my seat... you'll see...

All in all, this movie was crazy, cool, awesome, and hilarious with awkward moments like Spidey in the elevator and funny stuff like the violin player and J. Jonah Jameson. There are even surprise appearances by Stan Lee, creator of MARVEL COMICS, and Bruce Campbell, star of Evil Dead, who was really funny... And the end, the end sets up Spiderman 3 so well. I can't tell because it's like telling the end of the Sixth Sense, it would spoil the movie for you...

Don't believe anyone who disses this movie... it can't be made fun of...

That's my review, now go see the movie, DARN IT!!! **** out of ****

wow.... a disappointment
7 April 2004
Jurassic Park was destined to be a classic from the beginning with nice special effects, a fun story, and decent scary moments. It followed with a nice sequel with more nice special effects, a different story, and some freaky creepy parts. And they were both directed by Stephen Spielberg, known for his cinematic masterpieces, for god's sake... Then came Jurassic Park 3, a flop as you could call it, directed by Joe Johnston, who directed Jumanji and the Rocketeer, two average movies... JP3 is very predictable: for example, when someone is taken away by a dinosaur, you can expect them to die... And they add comedy to this movie, more comedy than action!!! But don't get me wrong, the special effects in this movie are really nicely done, maybe a little better than the first two movies, but if you don't want to watch a disappointing movie, don't buy this... if you really want to see this, rent it for the weekend... 3 out of 5 stars

Hellboy (2004)
Great movie, worth your money...
6 April 2004
This movie has it all: gunfights, fistfights, crazy fights against weird monsters, and Nazis!!! But don't get me wrong, it still has a good story, great adaption from the comic book, comedy, and romance (that's right ladies)... It's worth your money, and if you're a comic book fan, you can feel comfortable going to see it more than once... And I must say, Ron Perlman did an excellent job as Hellboy... I went into this movie not knowing anything about the comic and came out happy knowing that comic book movies still go the extra mile to make people happy... Go see it, you fools... it's good... and take other people with you, they'll enjoy it, too... now all I have to do is wait for Spiderman 2... 4 out of 4 stars
