Safe (2018)
Awesome!
I'm stunned at the amount of terrible reviews on here. People really do just come on the internet to troll and complain these days, don't they? Shocking.
Anyway, I absolutely loved this series! Had on my watch list for weeks so I'm glad I finally got the chance to watch it. Bit of a binge watch after work for a couple of days, would've made a decent Sunday watch too.
Excellent characters, fantastic acting and very Harlan Coben style flips and unexpected turns. I've read a few of his books too, and yet to be disappointed or properly predict anything correctly. Definitely did not expect that ending.
If you've read any Harlan's works, you'll love this. Even if you just like a thriller or a Binge-watch, give this a go. Be prepared for interesting story development each episode. Brilliantly scripted and well casted.
The Big Year (2011)
Fantastic!
I should start that this may contain a few minor spoilers...
Fantastic! Enjoyed this movie much more than I thought I would, given it was about bird watching. I watched because I absolutely love Steve Martin, he could make any movie likable. In fact, between the entire cast- Jack Black, Owen Wilson and Steve Martin- they could make even a rubbish story line enjoyable to watch. Only it isn't a rubbish story line, far from it. Each character has their own personal background and story line to move forward with. I just love that it is based on a true story, or at least people who are real, with "a few facts changed," or so it states at the beginning of the movie.
They really kept the bird theme going in this movie, between Harris's ring tone on his phone and some of the songs used in between. This movie made bird watching look quite inspiring and really gave a taste of what these bird watchers endure and how they feel doing it. I had no idea it was like that. Amazing! I love how they highlighted the different species of birds. I loved the owl scene with Harris and his dad in the snow.
The end is absolute perfection. I nearly cried it was so meaningful. Not often that happens for me, if ever! I love that no one died (for a change!) and even Bostwick had a closure that he deserved, but still showed a likable character in the end.
Brilliant performances from each of the actors, but I wouldn't expect anything less from this cast! Will definitely be watching this again.
Faces in the Crowd (2011)
Julian McMahon Makes Everything Good!
Would given this a 9, had it not been for the rubbish ending where (WARNING: SPOILERS) Julian's character died. What's the point? No one likes a rubbish ending to a movie!! Although it ends happy, still would have been a 10/10 movie had he lived. Still, I was glued throughout.
Also, would have liked to see more of Michael Shanks in this movie, he's quite easy on the eye too ;)
Terrific acting anyway, keeps you guessing and brings a very unheard of cognitive issue to life. Scary in itself, let alone if there's anyone after you.
Worth a watch, especially if you're a fan of any Mila or Julian! Enjoyed the watch, despite the disappointing ending.
Couples Retreat (2009)
Fun and Summery
I don't know why there's some negativity on here about this movie. I LOVE IT! One of my favourite movies. I've watched it at least 50 times and the scenes still amuse and entertain me.
Terrific casting, the paired actors and actresses really work well on- screen. The acting is fantastic too! I love so many of these actors. And the characters! Vince Vaughn is always interesting to watch though.
I think the script is pretty well thought out, each character has a bit of background and things tie in perfectly together. I laughed in quite a few parts of this movie. Especially at Faizon Love and Vince in the drinks scene before they look for Trudy.
Overall, this is a real fun, feel-good movie, very summery! 10/10 for the script, casting and acting. I'll watch this over and over again, love it!
My Fake Fiancé (2009)
Love This!
The only downside is this isn't available on DVD. I adore Mel and Joe on screen together. They really have a good chemistry and seem to have a good rapport of humour going. Really enjoyed watching this. Like another reviewer said, it's obvious what's going to happen at the end (although, aren't most movies?) but the way they do it makes it so enjoyable to watch. They really suit their characters and I really hope to see more of them on screen in future!
Whether you're a Melissa and Joey fan or a rom-com fan, or even just a wedding lover, this is one to watch! Would love it if it was available on DVD too.
Charmed (1998)
Charmed and Addicted
Absolutely LOVE this show! The casting, acting and story lines are fantastic. The person who done the casting in this really should get a medal. I don't think I'd have been even nearly as in love with it if Shannen Doherty was in it until the end. She is a good actress, but she's not amazing. She has a coldness and selfishness about her acting. I can quite believe that she had issues with Alyssa Milano, Shannen seems very unconnected with her, despite Alyssa playing Phoebe fantastically! So many of the episodes were about Prue in the beginning too, which probably added to her "superstarrish" behaviour. The show works far better with Paige in it. I love the show far more with Rose McGowan in it too, she's a super actress and has that uniqueness that I love about people. She seems more connected with Holly and Alyssa, giving a more connected sisterly vibe for the show. Rose and Alyssa's comedy factors really rub off on each other well! I'm so glad that Shannen left and they got such a wonder actress to play a wonderful character. The way they did it was superb! Very clever! They'd even had Sam (Paige's birth father) appear in season 1, which I didn't realise. I thought he was added in when Paige was. I love that Paige is half-whitelighter. I just love the orbing power!
I was hooked with Phoebe and Cole, they have great on-screen chemistry. Julian McMahon is quite handsome too and very enjoyable to watch! He really brings Cole to life, making him one of those half-bad guys we love. I was rather upset they didn't keep him in it longer, I'd have liked him to reappear later and for him and Phoebe to work. I'm glad they gave him a happy ending anyway, when he reappeared in season 7 to help Piper and want the best for Phoebe.
Piper and Leo are my favourite on-screen couple ever. They work so well on screen and have a good bond. They are very believable as parents to little Wyatt. Was gutted the season they broke up but they worked Chris into the story really well, loved that season with Drew Fuller as Chris! It's a tough choice for a favourite sister but I'd have to say Piper. I much prefer her as the "oldest" sister, she cares and makes wise decisions. Her powers are my favourite too!
Love Grams, she's a hoot! The fact they brought Grams, Chris and Wyatt back for the finale. This is one show where the story lines get better and better every season. 10/10 and more. One of the best shows on TV, with the best characters ever.
The Goldbergs (2013)
LOVE this!
Absolutely love this show so far! The casting is fantastic. The fact the real Adam F. Goldberg had this idea and uses some characters and situations true to his real childhood and teenage life is fantastic! There's nothing like this on TV and definitely been a gap for it. The fact that Adam F. Goldberg (in real life) had recorded his family for years (and kept the footage) shows he has a natural talent for TV. It's in him. hats off to the guy. He must have a good sense of humour too :) I just love that he shows some of the real family footage or a photograph and a "dedicated to..." at the end of the show to interlink with the storyline of the episode. I really enjoy those bits :)
Sean Giambrone plays the part fantastically. For such a young actor he has immense talent! He's super cute doing the episode where he teaches himself to dance (season 1). Feel really sorry for Barry in most episodes, getting knocked back. I really hope he wins over Lainey! Although, I love the actor who plays him. Wendi McLendon-Covey is superb as the Mum. She must have a terrific sense of humour in real life. I love that she "loves her kids too much" and gets involved so much. She works really well as the Mum! Love that they got George Segal as Pops. I don't think they could have casted this any better. They are very believable as a family on screen. Terrific balance and actor chemistry and for the family and story lines too.
Bravo Adam F. Goldberg. Thanks for bringing this to our screens and enlightening us with this glory and stories inspired from yourself and your real life. I love it!
