Stranger Things: Chapter One: MADMAX (2017)
Season 2, Episode 1
9/10
A Great Introduction
1 November 2017
For over a year, people have been talking about Stranger Things. However, they are mostly talking about the characters. The 80s nostalgia is talked about, too, and so is the plot, but it's the characters everyone is praising. Therefore, I hoped that they would set up the characters. And did they! I enjoyed seeing what happened to the characters between 1983 and 1984 -- figuratively speaking. This episode is character development heavy. No plot heavy. But that's okay! I wanted to know that the characters have developed, and developed they have. I can't wait to see what happens next.

An Incredible Build-Up
1 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
What an ending to this episode! I love how some episodes circle around. For example, in the beginning of the episode, Will is told to face his fears, essentially. In the end, he does, but it doesn't bode well for him. I also think Noah Schnapp is an incredible actor! I was worried before Season 2 premiered because the actor was barely in season 1, and I didn't know if he could hold up season 2. But boy! He can! I can also tell that he's very much taking advantage of the spotlight. Love his character!! I also like that Elle's character development is coming to a head.

A Hopeful Evolution
1 November 2017
Stranger Things is back to being the plot-driven series we have all been excited about. I love that the stakes are higher, and the monsters feel more horrific. In fact, the end of the episode made me get chills because I didn't expect such detail. However, there is something off about this season so far. It's not bad. It's just different. I love that they took risks by putting last seasons main faces -- Eleven, Mike, Joyce, and even Jonathan and Nancy -- to the background and put other characters in the forefront -- like Will, Lucas and Dustin, and Steve. The only character I believe has stayed in the spotlight is Hopper, which is good because he is the most complex character in the entire series. I miss that last season's faces don't get as much screen time, but I love that the series is growing and maturing, evolving.

A Captivating, Yet Lackluster Episode
1 November 2017
I enjoyed this episode quite a bit! The character development is still there. I love the further developments, as well as the world building. The only thing that I was a little off put by was that it went as slow as episode one (which was an episode I loved, by the way). It could have brought forth more plot building, but I did feel like everything that was shown will probably be necessary for the rest of the season. I've noticed that there's a lot more swearing, too. That didn't bother me too much, though.

Son of God (2014)

Who Is Jesus?
28 February 2014
The Son of God is filled with the Holy Spirit. Jesus in this film is very humble and righteous. He is the God you would want to love and be loved by. It's the closest Jesus portrayal that I found fit in my heart. You can look into his eyes and see the truth. Whoever thinks this Jesus is a wimp truly doesn't know who the son of God truly is. Yes, Christ is strong, but he was so compassionate that he didn't even defend himself. He loves. He's not a macho man. Christ is someone no one expected to be. He was humble, just, and perfect. In this movie, Jesus leaves me hanging onto every word. His love and hope is clearly seen throughout the entire movie. This is the kind of Jesus I follow. This is the kind of Jesus I worship. A loving God. A hopeful God. God bless you today and every day!

Visually Stunning. Beautifully Tragic. A Masterpiece. (A book fan review)
22 November 2013
I first want to say that if you are a fan of the books, you will NOT be disappointed. Compared to the first movie adaption, this one soars, leaving the other movie to die out in the hot desert sun.

I had re-read the book a day before I saw it and so I could see what the critical changes were. I would know every fine detail they let out. I first have to let you know that every book-to-movie adaption can't have 100% of the book in their. Plus, the new director, Francis Lawrence, had to clean up the mistakes the first director left out. Another thing, all the very important and even some parts you might think Hollywood would oversee is stitched together.

This has to be the BEST book-to-movie adaption I have ever seen. The visuals, for one, is spectacular. $140 million budget was not wasted, that's for sure! The director packed every little intricate piece possible to make it THE BEST experience us fans could have.

The acting was phenomenal. Katniss is a lot more lively now, because Jennifer Lawrence finally understood her character. The whole cast, including Sam and Josh, were amazing. Even the actress who played Johanna Mason, was FUNNY!

The music, however, copied the first, because I bought the first soundtrack, so I know every little musical detail. They must have used the same music and added a few more. That was sad. But, it did fit with the scene.

The action and suspense will never leave you, as the ending is a cliff hanger, holding on for dear life! (Hunger Games book fans: you won't be disappointed with the ending)

Without a shadow of a doubt, this movie, Catching Fire, really does catch fire and immerses the audience in the Hunger Games. I was truly speechless after the film because it was just so beautiful and satisfying. You don't want to miss the best film of the year, and possibly the highest grossing film of all time!!!
