It gets better!
14 May 2024
I'm writing this review for anyone who is on the fence about watching this show or even just not that into it after the first 4 episodes like I was. I would strongly suggest sticking it out because it gets better, a lot better. The second half of season 1 gets interesting and exciting. Especially so in season 2, which had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Everything is top tier including the: acting, set design, costumes, vfx, cinematography, and world building. The new characters introduced in season 2 are also a lot more interesting than the ones in season 1, besides empire of course. But even they still feel fresh because this series takes place over such a vast amount of time and they are a different empire.

The only negative thing I can say about this show is that it starts out a bit slow, but it eventually finds its footing. I also thought the acting of the Raych Foss character played by Alfred Enoch was a bit out of place and overacted, but that could also just be because the rest of the cast is so good like Lee Pace, Jared Harris, Lou Llobell, and Ben Daniels. Luckily, Raych isn't a major character and doesn't have much screen time. I'm excited for what season 3 has to offer.

Life & Beth (2022– )

Rule of 3

Always give a show at least 3 episodes before you give up on it. Just like Sense 8 and Dark, the first two episodes sucked but it gets good in the second half of the third. No coincidence that's when Michael Cera shows up. I was so ready to give up and then not only did it good, it got addictive. The chemistry between him and Beth (Amy) is great and now I don't want it to end because the story got interesting and it makes me laugh out loud.

Ride this train out
19 May 2020
After perusing most of the reviews on this first episode, I mostly disagree with the negative ones. First of all, it's network tv show, so you need to expect network tv quality. Having said that, the set design is great and exceeded my expectations. Second of all, this is not a remake of the movie in a series, it is a reimagining. I know it's unrealistic that a train with 1,001 cars would be able to travel nonstop for years through a frozen earth but have some suspension of disbelief people. It's a sci-fi tv show for Mr. Wilford's sake! The cast is solid and mostly familiar since it's composed of actors that you've likely seen in other tv shows and some movies. Jennifer Connelly is still beautiful and on her game. Steven Ogg is one of my favorite underrated actors, so that's a plus. An aged Mike O' Malley is great and personally nostalgic for me since I watched him as a kid on Nickelodeon's GUTS. I also like Susan Park and seeing her nude is a bonus. The main actor, Daveed Diggs doesn't quite seem to fit the role but perhaps that's why he was cast, for juxtaposition. There's also a twist, which I won't reveal but it secured my interest in this show and I'm going to ride this train out to see where it goes.

If you're interested in seeing Black Widow, then don't watch this spoiler heavy video. How about adding a spoiler warning first?

Who the hell is Behrad and where is Zari?!!
23 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So I know there was a huge timeline debocable having to do with the crisis since I watch all of the other shows except for Supergirl but where did this new guy Behrad come from? I've never seen him before (unless I just don't remember meeting him since the hiatus was so long) but I think they are just replacing Zari with him, which isn't cool. Especially since she and Nate were developing a relationship, which is an arc that I was invested in. I'm all about rotating the cast but Zari was growing on me and to replace her with some new guy without any explanation is an insult to the viewers. Don't get me wrong, I like Behrad so far and the stash box line was funny but please explain who the hell he is!
