Hit Man (2023)
Slow, dull, and not worth the time!
I just don't get it. Viewers and critics seem to love this movie. I found it weak, slow, and poorly directed. The plotline was just idiotic and it took until the last 30 minutes to actually get going into the meat of the story. I do love the two leads and have enjoyed them in other features, but this was just a poor excuse for a movie and sadly, it could have been spectacular.
The twists were apparent and often unimpactful to the story line as a whole. The set up should have been the first thirty minutes, THEN get to the fun stuff. It's billed as a comedy.....but lacks any real comedy at all.
My opinion? Skip this movie. It's not worth the two hours.
Man of the House (2005)
This could have been so much better!
I honestly don't know where this movie failed. It's not just one thing. I think it's a combination of directing, editing, and acting (which is sad with a cast that includes TLJ). The movie drags with cliched lines, unfinished jokes (punch lines that just don't deliver....it's lazy writing.), and a weak storyline. I feel like Tommy lost a bet and was forced to make this movie. What should have been funny scenes, like Tommy buying tampons, just completely fell flat because of the terrible writing. There was so much hope for something funny here but it completely missed. Two of the writers have written nothing but junk. This should have been my first clue. The third writer has written mostly drama. Apparently none of them were capable of writing comedy. Do yourself a favor and just skip this movie.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2024)
Pass!
I made it through 4 episodes when I said NO MORE! Scenes drag on with no end in sight. We're talking 10 minutes scenes of dialog only that do nothing to move the story along. 2-4 minutes could be right but I have a feeling this is jus lazy writing, directing, and editing. Actually, you could blame the slow sludge of a series on editing alone.
Superbly acted. Maya is amazing. MBJ is amazing. I loved seeing Wagner Moura and Parker Posey appear too (shouldn't be a spoiler since they're listed in the credits.).
I saw another review that said this is a character study marketed as an action series. That's absolutely correct. So basically we've been lied to about the content of this series. At this writing, the rating is a 6.7. I'm surprised it scored above a 5.0 on IMDB. It should really be about 4.7.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Subspace Rhapsody (2023)
Enough with musicals!
About 10 minutes was all I could take of this episode. I will preface by saying I HATE musicals and the have no place in a show like this. I don't care which producer or director likes them. Star Trek should not be portrayed this way, especially since the actors most likely are NOT actually singing.
I love this show and will continue to watch but this episode was just the worst. I would hope in future episodes the story lines stay away from this idiotic musical idea. Usually, when shows start things like this, it's a sign the writers are running out of ideas. I hope that's not the case here. I'd really like a few more seasons of something fun.
Wednesday (2022)
Great show but missing two things
This is a great show and Jenna Ortega does a great job. However, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzman are absolutely TERRIBLE. CZJ is bad but Luis is just awful. Both are playing the characters poorly.
However, the rest of the cast is exceptional and the storylines are entertaining. I just cringe every time Zeta-Jones and Guzman appear. These are are the only mistakes Burton made in casting.
I know there are some complaints that Burton's hand isn't really apparent here but it shouldn't matter. He did a good job with Wednesday and updated the family to the 21st century.
CGI is lacking in some scenes but nothing too terrible.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Pass on this one.
Confusing, idiotic, and more interested in CGI than a solid story line. However, I have seen worse. But this is a slog fest reminiscent of a video game, not a great superhero movie. It's appalling that as of this writing it has a 7.1 rating. This is a solid 4.
Lucifer (2016)
Terrible, TERRIBLE acting
How does this show have an 8.1 rating? This show is just absolutely terrible. It's shallow, predictable, overacted, and just poorly written. You're spoon fed plot lines throughout and suffer through scripts with so many holes you'd think it's swiss cheese. Why can't the networks produce quality television? It doesn't take much. And stop concluding story lines each week. There's nothing wrong with a seasonal story. I'm guess this is because the average American tv watcher is completely ignorant and doesn't know any better.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Terrible movie.
This was just awful. The premise was ridiculous and the holes in the script were glaring. Too long with scenes that drew out for no apparent reason. Skip it and save yourself two and a half hours.
Ava (2020)
Terrible film
It's rare that I see good actors overact and just destroy a film. Add in Jessica Chastain's inability to coordinate a fight effectively on screen (I mean come on! Even post processing couldn't save the fights.) and you have a weak film with a script that's been done a thousand times.
Skip this movie and watch YouTube videos of cats farting. It's more entertaining!
Nuit de la Glisse: Addicted to Life (2014)
White Privilege!
You're telling me out of all the different sports and extreme activities in this movie you couldn't find one single female or person of color in the world? I'm a white male and even a movie filled with white males insults me! On top of that, if you're not a surfer or skier, you can skip this film.
The Dirt (2019)
Don't waste your time
I've seen high school plays acted and directed better than this pile of sludge. This is a perfect example of good actors given no direction. What I find even more appalling is how anyone thinks this was a good movie. I'm guessing these are the same people who thought Avatar was an award worthy movie!
Baywatch (2017)
Skip skip skip
There's a possibility this is the absolute worst movie ever made....ok, maybe top 10 of the worst. There aren't enough characters in this post to describe all the problems with this movie. Just skip.
