Joker (I) (2019)
6/10
Devoid of coherent and well reasoned plot
13 November 2019
I went to see the movie in the theater after buying into the hype and also because it's about Joker. When I initially learned about the project in its infancy, I wasn't convinced if Phoenix was the right person for the role. This is because I only had the character played by Heath Ledger in mind only. I was right; although Phoenix played it convincingly and the person does grab the attention, but the character that people loved in the Dark Knight is a far cry from this joker. That character is intelligent, has high level of intellect, is ambitious, clear minded and highly sophisticated. On the other hand, the character shown in this joker is confused at best; the character has convoluted and cluttered mind. These are the traits, which I guess, comes naturally to Phoenix and looks extremely convincing when he portrays them. The movie has no well planned and thought-out screenplay as we have seen in other batman movies from Nolan. The makers now this and deliberately tried to successfully package it as open-ended plot, when in-fact there is hardly any plot. Just the disjointed but powerful acts from Phoenix, along with strong background core, fantastic camera work and brilliant cinematography.

One of the BEST comedy watch
14 August 2018
First half is very well scripted, directed and acted. Ayushman Khurana, Rohit Choudhary, Rakjummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Swati Semwal, and kirti have played there parts well. But the film's main stay is its plot, script, dialogues and outstanding acting by Rajkummar Rao and Ayushman Khurana.

21 July 2018
It is worth a watch for the reasons such as 1) good direction 2) sound 3) dialogues and catchy phrases in lahori accent 4) Superb performances 5) engaging (but somewhat weak) plot 6) stunts, action, and first chase scene 7) Camera work in first two scenes

bad film making
20 September 2016
I went to watch the movie and was hoping for a good movie experience, because of good reviews on IMDb, but was left disappointed. Story telling is bad, and so is the direction and acting of most actors. The writer and the director had no clear idea about the type of the movie they wanted to make. In the end, they got us the mixture of comedy, social drama, family drama, romance, and terrible suspense. I don't see any reason of telling viewers about Pushtunwali at the beginning. It gave the impression that the movie is about it, or it plays a major part in the story. Whereas, the code had very little to do with the movie, a part from one scene. Only good things about the movie is wardrobe and some nice shots of Swat valley.

The first half was incohorrent but picked up steam near interval
16 April 2016
May contains spoilers The film lacked coherent plot in most part of the first half. In the first half, the writer wanted to introduce viewers to the self-appointed group of people, working towards safeguarding rights of common man. The film started by showing how the group operates; similarities with Sarkar movie are evident in that early scene. Then the film moves on from there to tell the story of members of the group. The writer start with Ashir Azeems's character and that is the most lousy part of the movie. Dialogues, direction and acting is bad in that 20 odd minutes story. The Film gets interesting when its tells the story of school teacher, and the migrated Afghan family and its hard to miss the rest of the film.

watchable experience, but only for limited audience
5 April 2015
I neglected the dismal opening weekend, and some bad reviews about the movie, and went ahead to see it in theater, as I love this genre. The things I liked about the movie are: background score( except 2 scenes), cinematography, dialog's and direction and acting. The biggest problem with the movie is its last 40 odd minutes. The movie struggles to grab the attention of the viewer of the interval, and last 30 odd minutes are BAD. Watch it if you can appreciate the effort put in by the makers and some very good back ground score. But if you want to be entertained, and don't want to think much while watching the movie, then it is not for you.
