What a movie. Glorifying gang life and the Po-Po looks effective for the Hollywood makeover. Some scenes feel true, others not so much.

Fantastic actors in their primes. The cops were gritty. The gangstas were real... ish. The streets definitely looked authentic. Wonder how much they had to crowd control the neighborhood gangs in the area? A look into a world pre-Riots (1992) and post Neighborhood Watch (2012) - a 20 year difference in exposure. Now we have the "Interwebs" as a certain starlet first said. Would we be seeing this world without movies? Don't think so.

Thank God for filmmakers having the courage and resources that believed in them to make them.

Then and Now.

An endurable world still living in the underbelly of our lives.

Go watch.

Yeah not everyone's cup of tea or coffee, but I'm into gang life films. I really enjoyed the raw, indie approach.

A lot of the acting was whacked, but the story kept me watching. Expected a slasher movie, got a gangsta vs. crazies.

There was a certain whack-a-doo look in certain characters that in their eyes you only see in hood-rats that when they find out their gangsta boyfriend is cheating on them - and they're off and running.

There are a lot of crazy characters you just gotta be on the lookout for.

The cult girls definitely worth a look. The main cult beauty is worth looking at twice, or more.

What she does to one of the characters is something to... Wait For It...

Ah, go see the "Banana clip" - you'll see what I mean.

Stood and Delivered

Great movie.

EJO as the main man really stood and delivered. It's motivating to get out from what you were born into, to strive for more.

That's what we all want, to be better, for ourselves, for our Familias.

This movie, Stand and Deliver, along the likes of Take The Lead, shows what can be achieved if you work hard enough, whether it's math or dance, just concentrate and just go for it and keep at it.

Just maybe you'll get something along the ways.

EJO: grade A

Stand and Deliver: grade A

I heard of this movie from one of my Hommes. What an effed up movie! Meaning it was a hoot watching the white kids trying to get all ghetto and stuff. Fake as all the kids were, that really is a slice of life of the kids acting nowadays, in tha Barrio or the Suburbia - fast and wild, drugs and sex go hand in hand in this move and the real world.

Parents would freak out at the actual stuff happening under their own noses.

But back to Life. What impressed most was the acting stretch that Anne H was willing to do get away from her good girl roles, by stretch I meant Naked, hell yeah! Bijou P did a fine job of stretching too, the same eager to please loose girl looking to please in any way she can. Now that's real acting. Anyways. The rest of the cast did a good job performing the frontin' roles, all attitude was all they needed.

I gotta say reading why this film was made is a sad tragic story from the writer's untimely passing, it's a great dedication from a mind so young. In the end, fun to watch, like a slow moving car chase.

Excellent movie.

This is the birth of hood-rats and the choices to make. "Why you gotta be like this?"

Really? That's the guy and life you want to follow? It's sad cases that you can see happens in real life as well.

Visions of hope and the tragedy mixed in you can see coming a mile away. They think they're the "baddest" girls around, they fight each other, their boyfriends, rivals and just life in general.

It's another world that lives beneath, the urban lifestyle trapping the girls in a place that most people would never want to live in.

Great movie. A dangerous cycle of violence that we can see happening in almost any city. These characters are so bored, their only free time is to do nothing but trouble.

Live by the sword, die by the sword - really? Gangstas, brotherhood or men of honor? To each other maybe, to their enemies and every outsider, they hand out their prison justice mentality and enforce it with a brutality that most people tend to ignore until it's too late.

I never thought that gangsta life would be so glorified and seen as honorable - but not endurable.

It's a rough slice of life film, but worth watching.
