The worst director ever Ed Wood on the Spirituous Alien Invaders!!
26 February 2020
The cinema has some paradox, everybody wants to be the best in every genre, nonetheless it wasn't exactly true, also the worst has their space certainly, Ed Wood died poor and making X-rated movies, but somehow get respect from the critics when he was regarded as the worst director in a relevant book called Golden Turkey Awards, after that he became a Cult director, in this specific Plan 9 is easily noticed how bad he was, sadly the great Bela Lugosi was already death at those time, although Wood used some old footage of Lugosi to make it, he also ad-lib a stuntman to play Lugosi on several scenes covering your face with black coat, ludicrous, but it was Wood's style, also a wooden spaceship with many electronics devices properly supported by an impromptu bad done wooden table, all spaceships were hung by visible wires, in fact everything were fakes, unintentional of course, just to save money, now remains his legacy and all us love him, a case to be studied!! This episode once more the troublemaker Dr. Smith found a machine hidden on the bush, calling the attention of the Robot, Will and Penny, while he looks the strange device the Robot warning him to don't touch anything, saying that to dealing with an Android machine, whatever your order has a price to pay, pure waste of time, he chosen a female Android called Verda and takes her to the spaceship, there he has a special treatment from her, as massage his feet on warm water or cold, until appears the odd seller Mr. Zundish (the funny Fritz Feld) to collect the payment, however Dr. Smith is already bothered of such untimely Android that refuses to pay, now we know another adjective of Dr. Smith, the bad payer, countless are yours blemishes, the conclusion is obvious of course, see by yourself!!

Great British gangster picture, with a little bit of naivety!!!
25 February 2020
When this picture arrives at my hands I'd read the plot summarized on the Box's cover, it's regarded as the best British gangster movie of all time, seems exiting, well watching this movie carefully on the smallest details, stays clear that it was true, a London's Boss Harold (Hoskins), almost alone rules in an empty place, no strong enemies at sight, nevertheless awkwardly his kingdom starts crumbles at his own eyes, he tried by any means find out a reason of such tragedy, without any fair clue, actually he was sewing a profitable deal with an American Mobster Charlie (the Great Eddie Constantine), in two days all things collapse under your feet, Victoria ((the glorious Helen Mirren) his wife advise him that it may come within of own corporation, Harold takes Jeff his righ arm to a friendly chat, Jeff explains everthing, he finally understood that the enemy no more and no less is IRA, there are many fabulous sequences likes the men holds by their feet upside down at slaughterhouse, genuine a fresh punishment and how he kills Jeff, somehow Herbert (Hoskins) coming from the streets try faces the powerful IRA's Irish gathered by a brutal group of ultra-nationalist denote a flagging brain, however highly recommended!!!

Hide the past has a high price to afford!!
25 February 2020
The Untouchables was created as series to display how American was stringent on those hard days of the crash market, where millions were unemployed, then came up the useless dry law a quickly response as they called ill of society and violence, it was like wipe ice, it became a nightmare to police department ever since, in this odd context Eliot Ness found another source of alcohol to make booze, a great factory on New York, they went there and discover through the accounting books strong evidences that a great portion was allowed to Chicago area, the president Carlton Duncan strangely turns a blink eyes, thus later Ness figure out the main reason, he and his brother were blackmailed by Johnny Torrio (Mcgraw) due them were convict in the past, then such information will be a disaster for them if it comes to light, in this episode most probable the writer had a low grade on mathematic at school, he wrote that Torrio already had extorted nearby 30 millions dollars, it is highly implausible, for instance the famous Hoover Dam spent 48 millions during just five years, it expose how a large company could pay such amount faster without permission of the board of directors or by their shareholders, unless by this little disparities a fine entertainment!!!

Two brothers from a dysfunctional family in clash by a woman!!!
24 February 2020
I'm totally agree with a reviewer above "artzau" wrote about this is hybrid of Cohen Brothers and Tarantino style, fictional and violent offer, two brothers from a dysfunctional family meets at older's (Vincent D'Onofrio) marriage, the younger brother (Reeves) has a quickly affair with the bride (Cameron Diaz) in same day, actually she is forced to marry him, both running away followed by the angry old brother, between comings and goings the bride was killed by the instable and freak D'onofrio, then he puts the girl body in the Reeves's Motel room trying ascribe him as the real killer, Aykroyd plays a rogue cop, fond by the gorgeous Cameron, many twists come over, however the things get out of control, a bit insane, however surround by bloody scenes on Tarantino style on graphic violence, glad to see again the fine actress Tuesday Weld on a movie on a small role, also the great Delroy Lindo as the crook and the beauty Courtney Cox neither, criminally underrrated!!

A man who refused to die, Yossi Ghinsberg!!!
24 February 2020
This story sounds me familiar, I'd already watch a dramatization on Discovery Channel, watching this picture arise it in my head, the screenplay is well developed, following the Yossi's book, starts on slow pace, took plave in Bolivia when the four adventures got inside Amazon rain forest seeking a supposed lost tribe, after one week they split in two groups, Yossi and Kevin running down the river and Karl and Marcus going back through same way that they came, early they were advised by Karl that they avoid the canyon river passage, too late after this point both follow opposite direction, lost in the jungle Yossi tries survives on early days, slowing he was losing your strengths, waking in circles, having nightmares at nights, seeing Marcus spectrum, meeting a lost native from own hallucination, caught in deeply slough, his friend Kevin was survived and made many efforts to find him, strangely the low rates just 6.7 upset me heavily, how I used fishing at wilderness quite often in mycountry I can say how it was difficult moving on rain forest, the rapids displayed on movie is worst of all, also shooting in such places is a notable achievement, no studios, no blue screen and so on, a true and marvelous cinema!!

Nolte & Murphy chemistry in high level!!!
23 February 2020
Walter Hill doesn't disappoints me never, in this Edie Murphy debut, bringing the sloppy hard smoking cop Nick Nolte with his outdated soft blue Cadillac, making a deal on 48 hours with a smart upscale back convict to help him to catch a cop's killers, two opposite characters in every level as you may imagine, somehow slowing is developing a self-respect between them, that starts in low degree, the action takes place at hilly San Francisco, the stays clear cars race in those ground, after spent two years at prison Murphy needs a natural relief on gorgeous women at large, however often is ready appears a sudden obstacle, clever lines spoke by the gift Murphy we can foresee in advance his inexorable future, the chemistry between the leading actors are irrefutable facts, those searching on night clubs are surrounded by pure magic acting allowed by both, also supported by good soundtrack on live performance, as an ELO's fan has a scene at prison where can see easily a ELO in concert poster at a third cell, one of my favorite movies of the eighties!!

Duvivier walks in a stony ground!!!
23 February 2020
Undoubtedly another great Duvivier's picture, this time touching in a neuralgic matter, due on occupied France many cooperating with the Germans invaders, this is the main point, after a fifteen years a hearsay came to Marie-Octobre's ears and his slavish admirer Léon Blanchet (Robert Dalban), thus they decided gathered all member of the French resistance at those time to find out the real traitor and thief, the meeting shall be in the same place where everything happened, that ends up with the Gestapo breaking out the meeting, also killing his leader, further the traitor also stolen three millions francs, they are eleven, a pressman, a priest, a tax collector, industrialist, a butcher, an attorney, a locksmith, a doctor, among others and the still young Lino Ventura as Carlo Bernardi as night club's owner, they faces each other, many things come up, suspicions on the air, in searching for the truth they reconstituting the final scene when his leader was killed, robust and valuable effort, displaying the human nature even on the worst wartime backdrop, Duvivier walks in a stony ground!!!

From comics to the big screen Prince Valiant!!!
23 February 2020
Just remembering my childhood days when l had a couple of Prince Valiant comics at my huge collection, when I saw this movie on TV in 1995 it brought good memories, now revisiting it on second time on DVD sounds great, a mix of fictional story over the Camelot and the real Vikings on Brittany land, Wagner plays the Valiant young Viking, his father is an exiled Nordic King, due he became Christian, now hidden somewhere on Brittany he waits to return to the Scandinavia to recover his kingdom, meanwhile his son goes to Camelot, there he meets the great warrior Sir Gawain (Sterling Hayden) and falling in love for the Princess Aleta (Janet Leigh) also he has to struggles against the evil Black Knight who make a deal with pagan Vikings to break down King Arthur, his identity is unknown, however the gloomy Sir Brack (James Mason) is easily discerned, somehow some gaps are blatant, the heavy swords, improper actors accents and finally on Nordic land has a castle, well here we have a real problem, the Vikings never built a castle to live, even in modern times when they already mixed with their neighbors, aside this is an fine entertainment!!

The luminescence happy guy meets a sad girl!!!
23 February 2020
Van Johnson played through his long career always good guys, he was often a stereotyped actor, in this heart breaks movie he fits perfect as the luminescent happy man from the countryside, that arrives at New York waiting for the long journey to the war on overseas, in meantime he meets with a lonely and sad girl Ruth Wood (Jane Wyman) who live with her sadned and rejected mother by her husbund, in this dreary atmosphere he appears like a sunrise, although just a few and brief moments the romantic pair living almost an entire life at central park or in a restaurant, bright moments shared each other, sadly he has to go, in few months manny letters are send by the anxious girl, however when a letter come up it wasn't from him, the upbeat guy fell down on battle, fabulous love story that adds a religious element at glorious Saint Patrick church, heartbreaking sad story, hard to forget due such greatness, is impossible stays phlegmatic watching this compelling story!!!

Living forever is an endless boredom!!!
22 February 2020
The fine actor Glenn Corbett was the guest star of this odd and fantastic Star Trek episode, Captain Kirk, Spock and McCoy are escorting in Shuttlecraft a famous Federation diplomat Nancy Hedford (Elinor Dunahue), actually she is ill and they have to hurry to get on Enterprise in time, but suddenly appears a strange energetic cloud that forced the Shuttlecraft lands on a small planet, there they meet a lonely survivor Zefram Cochrane, appalled by such oddity they try get a fairish answer by Cochrane, who explain that an entity called just by The Companion, a sort an energetic field that cover up him to communicate thru thinking, saves his life and they were invited by this entity to stay there forever, sounds a dead end, one the best screenplay on the series, seems at first look unavoidable, because the strange being didn't get any human fair emotion, nevertheless the results are unpredictable, the writer Gene L. He made the unattainable becomes in an immaculate solution!!

A Jerry Lewis movie to forget!!!
21 February 2020
This time I have to surrender, even I've been a die-hard fan of Jerry Lewis Three in a Couch is a flop, nothing make sense, the plot expose a serious Lewis as normal guy, wrong approaching, he tries seduces his fiancée (Janet Leigh) to live in Paris, miscasting to this specific role, she is a real gift girl, however didn't had a comic vein, Lewis stays in both side teeter-totter, one time playing a sober smoking guy, suddenly appears with a new facet, dumb, hilarious and daffy, in this odd context both side didn't work out, Jerry Lewis wasn't allowed to be a dramatic acting, he couldn't put their foots in two different conoes as he tried impose here, the supporting casting aside Kathleen Freeman were another weak point, for all Jerry Lewis's legacy, erase it for good!!

Finally something consistent on Lex Barker's Tarzan!!!
20 February 2020
Strangely I'm missing this one in my childhood somehow, according my files I never saw it, certainly was one the most acceptable work of Lex Barker playing Tarzan, not for himself only, the storyline is quite good, for first time they shot on external scenes more specific in the desert and rocky spot, also with another Jane (Dorothy Hart) and introducing the newest Boy the orphan Joey, the plot summarized is about a Tarzan's cousin arrives at Africa to meet Tarzan, he was lured by Edwards (Patrick Knowles) and your crook and greedy guide Rokov (Charles Korvin) who kills the Greystoke's member, Edward replaces him as cousin henceforth, they have an strategic planning, approaching of Tarzan to guide them to a Wazuri tribe, where has a large amount of diamonds, by far the best of Lex Barker until now!!

Flouted exiting spy thriller on V-1 and V-2 on WWII!!!
20 February 2020
This overlooked spy thriller even being a fictional movie that never happened, in fact those Flying bombs called V-1 and V-2 was really developed by the Germans by the genius Von Braun, that later joints with allied, this British-Italian co-production is largely well done, supporting by stellar heavyweight casting George Peppard, John Mills, Trevor Howard, Lili Palmer, Tom Courtenay, Jeremy Kemp, Sophia Loren, Paul Henreid and the best of them Richard Johnson, that rarely we saw in the same movie together, anchored by a clever screenplay the movie flow easy, sadly the producer Carlo Ponti committed a mistake introducing his wife Sophia Loren as top billing to acting just few minutes, in other hand we have a solid efforts of British intelligence working hard against the true menace that were those Rockets over London, still emphasizing the accurate technical terms talked by scientist and engineers neither, enough action and suspense is able to hold the audience on the chair, also increase by director Michael Anderson who gave a strength required in such greatness production!!

One of last good movies of Audie Murphy!!!
19 February 2020
As I said before I'm a great appreciator of Audie Murphy's B-Movie, even this one was one of the latest of his long career, is self-evident that Murphy already older and the film's quality is no longer were in the same level with the previous one, however this an interesting movie as well, He Plays a Sheriff Chad Lucas in charge to deliver a large amount of money carry by train to the Bank, he and his Deputy Cap (Denver Pyle) has been escorted by horses, meanwhile the Drago's gang already obstructed the railroad falling down the water reservoir, he gets up on a train's roof but he was hit by a bullet and felt down almost dying, then he settles a posse to chase Drago's gang who escape taking a his former fiancée Uvalde (Joan Staley) bringing together the newest Uvalde's lover Nate Harlan (Warren Stevens), in the way they fight with Indians until meeting a three horse's hunter leading by the fabulous Edgar Buchanan, what a character, this is the best part of the movie nearby a beauty waterfall's spot, also a little reference to Greek Nicos (Nick Demos) actually a colorful character who improve the movie widely , fine entertainment!!

The most famous long sequence plan at riverbank ever done!!!
18 February 2020
Two Rode Together has one of most famous long sequence plan at riverbank ever made, Jim Stewart and Widmark sitting there and talking together about several minutes without any takes, they had to improvise their dialogues to fill up the range of the bold sequence, the picture brings the unusual character to Stewart, here is a corrupt and greedy Sheriff Gruthrie who take ten per cent of all business in Tascosa, when he is friendly invited for Lt. Jim Gary (Widmark) for order of Major Frazer (McIntire) to go to Fort Grant, there he knows his odd assignment, making a trade with Comanche's leader to bring back many kidnapped white children, girls and boys even a older woman, carefully to don't break the peace agreement Major Frazer is willing to sent Gruthrie with the Jim Gray as civil person, Ford print out his major trademark, the humor, plenty by the way most centered on the shubby Sgt. Posey (Devine) also a blatant racism over the free captives exposing them to devasting damages , in worst way on the woman as Elena (Linda Cristal), here there's no enough action, instead we have the study of human behavior, also even playing a crook Stewart display his other unknown face, marvelous acting, a fine movie from the best western director!!

Bizarreness from a deranged mind!!!
17 February 2020
Coffin Joe is largely well known worldwide character, made great movies in the past, this weird offer differs from the others, this early movies were substantial, this one made on late seventies is purely bizarre, the plot is minimal about a man who has terrible dreams losing your wife to Coffin Joe, then the real one José Mojica Marins himself is invited to help this odd psychiatric case, Coffin Joe made an excessive visual picture from hell, the continuous use of an imaginary world where nothing make sense, a massive sexploitations scenes as well, psychedelic in several forms and shapes, aimlessly just wander of to nowhere, in fact the movie was made under separate old footages which were refused by brazilian censorship, it explains so many difuse colors between the takes, then Coffin Joe assembled a new picture, the main proposal is display oddity to make money, the name of the movie spoke itself from a deranged mind, that all!!

One of the independent movies from partnership Lancaster-Hellinger who died before the picture is done, despite all mess Lancaster goes ahead as making a favor to Hellinger's widow, having Siodmak the same of the Killers, attached by a fine screenplay Crisis Cross became a instant smashing success on box-office, Lancaster plays an obsessed divorced man who return to LA after a long time far away from there, he hesitate for a while, therefore ends up caught in the arms of his ex-wife Anna (De Carlo), he stays upset by her choice a crook as Slim (Duryea), then appears a perfect opportunity to get her back, through an armored car robbery which he is working, non-linear picture, many flashbacks coming along as in the Killer, the robbery itself is superb, he turns over the role when see his partner to be killed, the final part at hospital is disturbing and tense, when he finally realizes who Anne really are is too late, seminal noir picture to be discovered for a new generation of worldwide cinephiles, highly recommended!!

Dull and instable, although Sanders scatter his undeniable charm!!!
15 February 2020
Interesting Noir picture if not had Lucille Ball in the casting, she was extremely stigmatized by her comic career on "I Love Lucy) also has a little appearance of Boris Karloff on a bizarre short sequence, it's scratch the credibility of the picture grotesquely, the damages are irrevocable by now, in other hand the movie will growing slow and strongly, when reach in somewhere reliable, the it became palatable at least, having the our old acquaintance George Sanders wisely put on the cast to mislead the audience as the most probable serial killer, smart game, nevertheless the proves put on purpose on the writing desk was too obvious, maybe the real killer wasn't enough smart, also was implied a bit humoresque atmosphere that doesn't match with the Noir style properly, Ball is too puritan to the role neither, anyway all those little fragments spoils the movie too hard, whenever it happens lost the firmness for good, no return meanwhile I'm glad to see the sleak and sophisticated George Sanders in high style as always!!
