Psycho: The Sperminator (2005)
A real life story about Medical ethics
This is one of the greatest documentary I have seen. The story about the life of Dr Cecil Jacobson, a British trained fertility expert, who arguably crossed the boundaries of medical ethics. The story is told exquisitely well by journalists, his patients and the lawyers involved in his trial against the State of Virginia. His specialty for Artificial fertility for woman produces an excellent example of a pshycologically influenced medical practice. The strange thing about the documentary that his wife and so many other supporters stood by him which further complicates this case. This reminds me of another movie "Made in America" which revolves around the sperm donation and the offsprings that were generated from the treatment.A must watch ..10/10 from me.
Anaahat (2003)
Successful to elaborate female sexuality
Amol Palekar finds a wonderful a story to bring forward the subject of female sexuality. There are not many directors who dare to bring up this issue, few to name Deepa Mehta (Fire), Basu Bhatacharya. The Art direction of this movie is very good as compared to contemporary Marathi cinema, and Sonali Bendre has finally shown that she too can act(besides looking beautiful), sadly in the later part of her career. The movies flows wonderfully well and shows, arguably, the narrow minded (in the context of female sexuality)nature of a male dominated society. The classical music in the movie enhance the quality of the movie and people who like classical music would adore it. Performance of Ananat Nag, Deepti Naval are second to none. I have voted it as 9/10 just can't rate it 10/10 I am still contemplating whats was lacking? but would like to see the rating of this movie to be little higher.
