Damsel (2024)
Wasted good potential...
I'll just quickly start by saying that Millie Bobby Brown is an absolute beauty and she was the only reason I kept watching'till the end.
Amazing cast, amazing idea, but it gets too boring too fast. This movie could've lasted 20 minutes and it still would've covered the whole story. No characters' stories were developed, it became very predictable because the story is so empty.
Also, tooooo many meaningless scenes that are exhausting and you find yourself conflicted because you want to keep watching but you're so bored and tired, you have to force yourself to not stop.
Costumes were good, the CGI - amazing. The story - ridiculously meh.
Don't Look Up (2021)
Don't not watch this movie!
Ok, I won't lie, I had enormous, colossal expectations from this movie and was dying to watch it and... it was even more than I expected. I want to delete it from my head just to watch it again. It's funny, witty, but also touches serious aspects about how bloody stupid our humanity is, how wicked politicians are and many other subjects. Writing this with tears in my eyes, definitely my favorite movie that I've watched in a veeery long time. Personally, nor the cast (many of which I'm a ridiculously big fan of), nor the writing, nor the direction, nothing really disappointed me. Love it.
P. S. Don't be so quick to turn it off, there is an ending after what seems to be the ending. Also there is even an another (really funny) ending after the credits.
New Amsterdam (2018)
DON'T GET FOOLED! Season 3 is NOT BAD.
Too much exaggerated hate without any basis. Seasons 1 & 2 were indeed better, but 3 is DEFINITELY not as bad as the reviews say. I'm completely confused by people's reactions and I almost completely disagree.
New Amsterdam: Fight Time (2021)
I don't understand you, people...
I am so mad about the bad reviews, I don't even know what to say. The story is still complex and interesting, the acting and the characters are still good; and the bit with the vaccines is NOT about politics, it's about Max genuinely trying to save the vaccines and a lot of people and frankly, isn't that what Max is all about? I agree, there were some episodes in this season that had too much unnecessary politics but PLEASE stop exaggerating. Don't get fooled by the bad reviews that, in my opinion, are just without basis. Again, it's all subjective, but I think that the people who are working on this show are doing a tremendous job, I adore the show and it actively pains me seeing so much unfounded hate.
¿Quién Mató a Sara? (2021)
WHY THE HATE?!
I sincerely don't understand these bad reviews. It is a telenovela, this is how telenovelas go, it's our guilty pleasure. If you want Oscar worthy content, then watch Oscar worthy movies, don't go and watch a telenovela and expect something else. And this is actually a very interesting one with good twists. Truthfully trying to save an underrated effort of the people who worked on this.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018)
I tried to keep watching, I really did...
Being super into supernatural and magic, I was so happy to find a series that has a decent number of episodes and oh my (Dark) Lord, did I almost died whilst watching season 3. When (and WHY) did the series become a musical? Why did the plot become so... unwatchable, twisted and with no sense at all? Why is women's sexuality such a taboo in the series? And OH MY LORD, why is Sabrina becoming more and more of a painfully spoiled brat instead of growing up? I stopped watching after the fourth episode of season 3 simply because I couldn't put up with it anymore. It is SO frustrating because I really got hooked after the first one.
Daniel Sloss: X (2019)
Quite Perfect
I never thought I'll find an another comedian that I will just ADORE. Ricky Gervais set a very high standard for me. Daniel Sloss, however, is right up there next to Ricky, being one of my now two favorite comedians. Everything, from the subjects Daniel chooses to the way he approaches them, his morbidly funny dark sense of humor (I've been lacking this with Ricky because, despite the fact the his soh is indeed dark, it is not at the same level of harshness and is not as aggressively dark as the one in my - and apparently Daniel's - head is) and how he uses his shows not only for comedy but also to talk about really important issues (as he said in this one "I finish my shows with a sad 15 minutes TED talk), I am just absolutely amazed and mesmerised. What a fine comedian. And what an extraordinary feeling when you resonate with someone on such a high level and you suddenly feel like being such a sometimes inadequate jerk and moron is ok-ay!
Captain Marvel (2019)
I understand the hate, not sure I agree with it
So I've always been a Marvel admirer but never a true fan, nor was I very informed about MCU and only watched several movies in the past. But as I did like what MCU was doing, I decided to watch all the 23 movies and I watched CM after finishing the first two phases (12 movies) in a very short period of time.
After being truly and shockingly amazed by how high is the bar that Marvel sets for themselves I began wondering if there is any movie by Marvel that is not exceptionally good. Well, unfortunately there is. CM didn't meet that bar and I do understand those who've been fans of MCU for years, their hate and disappointment. I read a lot of reviews before writing my own and some of them are really too harsh. (However, the high reviews are CLEARLY bought and fake).
Yes, the main character is a bit overpowered and lacks depth and Brie Larson was definitely a very poor choice. Yes, the movie is forced and way too boring (again, if judging by the MCU standards), but it does give a nice insight on how Fury got the Avengers idea; Jude Law did a great; I loved the plot twist; the cat was a really cool touch. The movie was enjoyable overall. I think it got so much hate because a true MCU connoisseur knows how much Marvel has to offer and they simply did not deliver with CM.
I didn't mind watching it, I didn't feel it was a waste of my time and a total loss. So don't let the bad (truly awful for some) reviews stop you to watch it if you feel like it.
Stranger Things: Chapter Eight: The Battle of Starcourt (2019)
Perfection
I'm rating this 10 because of Dustin and Suzie's song.
Destination Wedding (2018)
One of the most underrated classics destined to be
I could see how somebody might miss the point of this movie and identify themselves with the characters, but this is truly one of the most surprising, pleasing, enjoyable and smart movies I've ever seen. In terms of enjoyable - DEFINITELY the most enjoyable!
The actors did a tremendous job, there was not one moment in the movie I didn't believe them and the writers truly deserve applauses for their ingenious sense of humor. I just watched this movie for the third time and no second of it ceased to be as great as the first time I saw it. TRULY destined to be a classic and horribly underrated.
