Morally delightful! Surprisingly brilliant! Exceptionally inspirational!

Nothing can ever go wrong with something as beautiful as this movie. I began watching it expecting it to be a usual french drama with a small little love story and beautiful locations. However, the story is ready to bounce back at you and slap you with those sort of morals that many of us are in need of these days. At one point, you are bound to judge the story as "Oh! I know what's going to happen next" and the next thing ,you are slammed back then and there and the story takes a whole new turn leaving you astound. No! It's not the same old story of a family grieving to a new born's certain aberrancy. It's beyond that. It's about people who can overthrow anything with a weapon as simple as a smile and a gear as simple as adaptability and confidence. A good observer will grasp a light undertone that emphasizes on the importance of having the right partner in times of need. What cant you conquer when you have a partner like Juliette, who is smart, profound, charming, understanding and strong willed, something that's extinct today. A well established Romeo-Juliet chemistry that can smile their way through every phase of life. And look, they win in the end. All they had was the courage and happy go easy attitude. They adapt everything that comes their way and walks over it saying "Hey! Well tried. But we're moving on". Could all of us be that way, the world would be the best place to live in. No unnecessary drama, no tears, no prolong dialogues and yet the happiness. A smile can dwell a mountain. To me, this film was an eye opener. All credits to Valerie and Jeremie for carrying out their performance so amazingly. What more could you ask from a movie? I say nothing. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

Take Me Home (2011)

A surprisingly beautiful adventure.

Warning: Spoilers
To begin with, its about time we noticed Amber Jaeger. Sheer genius. Beautiful performance. Sam Jaeger on the other hand serves a complete justice to the story not only with his lasting performance but through a great direction too. Yes, it does have few loop holes but the beauty of performance and story establishment outweighs them. Performance grips you very tight in every frame. From hard end city life to unexpected road trip, Romance, beautiful locations, delightful choice of back ground score and most importantly, realizing value of those small things we tend to ignore in our never ending race of life. "Take me home" delivers a lot of beautiful messages in the most simplest manner which would otherwise require a whole complete movie. If you are searching for something to make you smile, then your search ends here. Highly recommended!

Hick (2011)
4/10
Chloe saves the day.
12 July 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I was drawn to this film mainly because of the interesting synopsis added on IMDb. However, appearances can be deceptive. In this case, it definitely is. A very common subject of a youth who feels detached and takes an unwanted action to overcome detachment. 'Hick' is a meaningful story that was successfully damaged by poor screenplay and unusual direction. However Chloe has delivered a brilliant performance and somehow make you sit through it even if you are fast forwarding it. A story of a young, troubled girl(Chloe) who is gifted a pistol on her birthday. She isn't taken care of by her parents and left back at home without any prior notice which makes her feel unwanted. She then decides to hop onto a trip to Vegas during which she encounters a young cowboy (Eddie) who agrees to give her a ride to Vegas and has a heroic explanation for his limping and some how convinces the girl of his achievement. Their is a sudden argument between the two (poor screenplay) and the girl is shown her way out of the car. Next she encounters a morally low female (Blake) who gives her a ride too during which she introduces her to everything from drugs to shop lifting. They halt at a motel for the night where Chloe encounters Eddie again. Blake then rides Chloe to her house where Blake's first and Chloe's third encounter with Eddie is on the cards. Eddie happens to be well familiar with Blake(poor screenplay) for some reason that our director didn't feel important enough to establish and works as a bar tender cum slave(appears to be) to Blake's husband who by the way needs to enroll himself for a proper acting workshop. Eddie has his way of dealing with his boss's temper, one of which is urinating into boss's drink before offering him. Eddie takes Chloe to pool Where she is molested by a stranger in spite of his presence (poor screenplay). Our cowboy realizes the harassment and gives the stranger a thrashing of his life which includes slamming the door repeatedly for about ten times on his head and smashing a whole freaking sink on the head. In a parallel world it'd be titled as beating down to a pulp. Eddie now drives her to a hotel where a Chloe refuses any sort of intimacy and hence is shown the door out. Chloe utilizes this offer and is seen playing cards with a random character (poor screenplay). Unhappy with this, Eddie strikes back and roughs up the situation and chases Chloe into the forest, gets hold of her and ties her up to the bed back in the hotel. Blake arrives out of no where (poor screenplay) and untie Chloe in an attempt to rescue her. However Eddie walks into the room and gets his hand on the pistol gifted to Chloe on her birthday and while confrontation, shoots Blake in response to which, Chloe shoots Ed. No happily ever after.

Overall, 'Hick' lacks establishment of required genre in almost every sequence. A suspense sequence is not established enough to look like a suspense neither is a thriller nor the romance. If it wasn't for Chloe's powerful performance, I wouldn't rate this anything more than a one.

An effort gone wrong.
4 July 2012
Being a fan of French cinema, Goodbye first love was a terrible disappointment. I had to witness some very abrupt cuts throughout the movie. The characteristic of female protagonist gets monotonous within just the first twenty minutes of watching which then continues for another 85 minutes. The movie lacked continuity throughout. The story which could have otherwise been presented beautifully has been treated awfully and looked more or less like a student's work which is yet to be reviewed and scrutinized by the professor. The story although based on a very common subject and not so different from many others that I've watched, lacked necessary details. There are sudden appearances and disappearances of characters(existing and new) without any necessary introduction or reason. I'm surprised as to how the producer managed to find the distributors. Not worth your time.
