Dhoom 3 (2013)
1/10
Please can I give this 0 stars?

Simply awful, even by a sequel's standards!

It lacks the thrills and excitement of the previous two films. Aamir Khan's atrocious acting in the film just makes it even more terrible - that isn't surprising considering Aamir Khan is generally not a good actor...if you are looking for an extra disappointing sequel, then watch Dhoom 3!

Very Boring!
18 August 2020
Cannot believe this film won an oscar - it was sooo long and incredibly boring in most parts. I know people like Aamir Khan as an actor but frankly I think he is not good at acting at all - this film proves my point!

Overall, I think Lagaan is overrated and not a film I would reccommend!

Toy Story 2 (1999)
One of the Few Sequels that You Can Say Beats the Original!
18 June 2020
I usually agree that sequels rarely beat the original. However, Toy Story 2 is one of the few films which do not fall into this category.

For me, the best thing is of course the connection between Woody and Buzz - perhaps the most iconic duo ever. However, everything about Toy Story 2 is outstanding - its music, animation and set of new characters are all what make Toy Story 2 the best in the franchise for me!

Definitely Spielberg's Best Movie!
18 June 2020
I have not seen all of Steven Spielberg's films. However, I can say hand on heart that E.T. is the best one I have seen and illustrates the genius that is Steven Spielberg.

I watched E.T. when I was 5 (over 20 years ago) and to this day still cannot get enough of it!

Toy Story 4 (2019)

Nothing like the first three....yet still a decent addition to perhaps the best franchise of all time!

Warning: Spoilers
I grew up watching Toy Story 1 and 2 - simply amazing and flawless movies. When 3 came out I also loved it, albeit not as much as the first 2.

I was super excited when they made a fourth one and went to see it on its second day in cinemas. I went to the cinema with extremely high expectations, however, I am sad to say that these expectations were not met. That is not to say that the film is not watchable - it definitely is, especially because it brings back one of every Toy Story fan's favourite characters, Bo Peep (I like many other fans was so upset that she was not in the third one). Nevertheless, nearly all of the other favourite characters are basically absent from the film which is a major flaw.

Without spoiling too much, I feel as though the ending to this one was highly dissatisfying and there absolutely has to be a fifth one now!

Amazing Film
18 June 2020
A very amazing film about the bond between a girl and nature's rarest yet most majestic animal - the white lion!

Special fact: I have met the main lion in the film (Thor)

One of Disney's worst
27 June 2013
The Jungle Book 2 is by far one of the worst sequels (whether Disney or Non-Disney) I have ever seen. It has a weak storyline, below average songs and terrible animation.

I remember when I heard that there was going to be a sequel to the Jungle Book (one of my favourite Disney films), I was extremely excited: my excitement went to waste. What makes this film even worse is how great the first Jungle Book film was. I think the same can be said for most Disney sequels (e.g. Pocahontas 2, The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2 etc).

Quite frankly, I like to imagine that this sequel does not exist.

Asoka (2001)
1/10
Even as a Shahrukh Khan fan, I hated this movie
27 January 2013
I may be a massive fan of Shahrukh Khan. However, I must say Asoka has got to be one of his worst, if not his worst film ever. I think it lacks most things a good film (whether Hollywood or Bollywood) needs to do well.

Firstly, I would have to say that the film was really badly scripted and the storyline was very messed up. I am not just saying this because the film did not place emphasis on the love story.

Secondly, I would have to say that the acting in the film was atrocious. In fact, I can say that even Shahrukh did not act well in this film. I would not normally say that as Shahrukh is my hero. Kareena Kapoor was also very bad in terms of her acting (I would say the same about her in many of her other films). In addition to the awful acting from the cast, I have to say that Shahrukh and Kareena did not look good together on screen, maybe they could have cast an actress who has a chemistry with Shahrukh (e.g. Kajol, Aishwarya Rai).

Thirdly, the songs in the film are not good at all. I can never listen to them, I just find them purely annoying and cheesy.

Fourthly, I think the action in this film is terrible. It is fake and frankly some of the worst I have ever seen in a movie.

Usually when I watch a movie with Shahrukh Khan, the fact that Shahrukh is in it usually means I will like it. However, even Shahrukh being in Asoka did not make me like it.

Possibly the best film of 2006
27 January 2013
Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna is a great movie. I do not think I can find a single flaw in this movie.

Firstly, the film has an excellent storyline and is very well scripted. It is not a typical love story in my opinion. I like that Karan Johar made a different kind of film. KANK explores the themes of adultery, one theme which I don't think has really been highlighted in any major Bollywood movie before.

Secondly, the acting by all of the cast is terrific. I was particularly pleased with Shahrukh's acting (as is the case with most films I see of his). All the other cast acted well too.

Thirdly, I think the songs in KANK are all really good. I mean I could listen to them everyday.

Overall, I am glad Karan Johar made KANK. It was a new kind of film for its time and I think more films like this should be made.

Don 2 (2011)
7/10
Good but nothing like the first Don
27 January 2013
Don 2 is a very good film, however nothing in the sequel matches up to the excellence of the first Don.

Firstly, in terms of storyline, Don 2 could never be as good as the first. The first Don has an excellent plot with a nice flowing script, it seems Don 2 lacks both particularly the latter. I think some scenes in Don 2 are poorly scripted, however on behalf of those who have not seen it, I will not give away anything.

Secondly, in terms of action sequences the first Don has much better ones. Don 2 hardly has any action in it.

Thirdly, in terms of acting I think Don 2 is quite poor. Shahrukh Khan did not play Don in the same cunning way which he played him in the first movie. Also, Priyanka Chopra's portrayal of Roma seems to have dropped in the sequel.

Fourthly, the songs in Don 2 are nothing like the songs in the first movie. The songs in the first one are a lot more addictive, I think the only song I can listen to over and over again in the sequel is Dushman Mera.

Overall however, I would not say Don 2 is a bad movie. I would just say it does not match up to the goodness of the first one (which is generally the case with sequels).

Probably Yash Chopra's best movie with Shahrukh Khan
21 January 2013
What can I say? This film was excellent. It has everything a Hindi film needs to be a success.

On top of everything, there are three things which I feel made Dil To Pagal Hai a great movie. Firstly, it has a huge star cast (other than the Baadshah himself, Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor - both of whom have an outstanding chemistry with Shahrukh). Secondly, it has amazing songs (the best one for me has got to be Dholna). Most of all though, I think although the film is your average Hindi film (i.e. a love story), I believe it is a love story with an important message - the message it tries to portray is that there is somebody out there for everyone and people need to find their soulmates. I think this is evident from the tagline "Someone, somewhere is made for you." Yash Chopra was by far the greatest director of Hindi cinema. I have watched many of his films (e.g. Veer Zaara, Kabhi Kabhie, Silsila etc) and I have to say that I can never be bored of watching them again and again. However, I have to say that DTPH is probably the Yash Chopra film I have watched over 50 times, it is an awesome film.

What rubbish!
27 September 2012
Out of all the Harry Potter movies, I would have to say this is by far the worst. Not only does it not stick entirely to the book (none of them really do) but it is dead boring and does not seem to excite me in the way the other movies have.

I cannot explain why, but the acting from the cast is absolutely appalling in this film, even from Alan Rickman, who I always believed was the best actor in the series.

On top of everything, it annoyed me how much emphasis was placed on romance in this movie. It completely lost the plot when Hermione was getting overly jealous over Ron and Lavender Brown's relationship.

Overall, this film is by far 1 of the worst I have ever seen, even though I am a Harry Potter fan.

Swades (2004)
10/10
One extremely underrated film!
1 September 2012
It never fails to confuse me why this movie flopped at the Indian Box Office! I know Swades is not your typical romantic movie (where the storyline is boy and girl meet, they fall in love but cannot be together for whatever reason then by the end they get together) but that does not mean that it is a crap movie.

I remember when I first went to watch this film in the cinema, I was not that bothered about watching it seeing as I had not heard much about it. However, after watching it over 5-6 times, I realise that Swades is a great movie because it highlights the reality of what villagers in India face. Most films which flop often have no storyline but Swades actually has a storyline. The storyline focuses on Mohan Bhargava (Shahrukh Khan) who returns to India in search of his childhood nanny and in the process remembers how much he loves his country.

One thing that I actually think is good is that critics noticed how well Khan portrayed the title role of the film, more importantly Khan won an Oscar for his performance!

3 Idiots (2009)

Rubbish!!
12 July 2012
Words cannot even describe how crap this films is....let me just outline why it is so bad!!!!!! Firstly, the acting by the cast is awful!! Aamir Khan's performance as a 22 year old Engineering student is absolutely appalling, however it is not as irritating as Boman Irani's performance as your stereotypical principal who has least favourite students.

Secondly, the storyline is just boring (I am not only saying this because it is a different storyline) - it is not at all realistic and to be perfectly honest it has little to it.

Thirdly, the songs are just annoying...especially the stupid 'All is well!!' If I could rate this film below 1 I would rate it into them minuses!
