Rush to the Oscar Award Ceremony!
6 October 2013
Oscars is a long way away, but this movie will be remembered for a long time.

First of all, I didn't know too much about the back story of this rivalry, however people need to understand this is a movie, the idea is not to follow the exact real life event, but to throw in a few new ideas.

This movie was really great, the trailer did not exactly deliver, meaning, lets just put it this way, when I booked ticket to see this movie I brought my pillow and pajamas just in case. Now enough with the silly jokes and puns, the movie progresses through with the introduction of Stephen Hunt with Niki Lauda appearing later on to rival him, severe tension arises between them along with their romantics events then slowly but surely the movie builds up to a ultimate series of events which begin crash down on us, I did say i'd stop with the puns right?

Anyway I have to applaud the way the movie is compiled and how the ending is shown. Without spoiling anything I have to give credit to Peter Morgan/Ron Howard for their superb avoidance of portraying a jolly, joyful and friendly ending, instead they showed a mutual understanding between Hunt and Lauda, in which after doing my research was pretty accurate to what occurred in real life.

Overall great movie, and yes, as the Summary Title says I can assure you an Oscar or two will be dealt out here, possibly Daniel Brühl and Chris Hemsworth will have a rivalry of their own for an Oscar? Time will tell.

Red Dead Redemption (2010 Video Game)

Red Dead Perfection
2 October 2013
Red Dead Redemption, what a game. I've played a wide variety of games from all genres, played most of Rockstar's GTA games, but this...This is the one which rises above all.

I'm not gonna lie 90% of the reason why I loved, loved this game was because the story was amazingly put together. I especially love the way the story develops and you continue to migrate into different little towns, forcing you to explore the amazing, amazing scenery, along with the entertaining "stranger"/side missions of course.

When my friends asked, what is Red Dead Redemption? The easiest way to describe it is a "Western Cowboy GTA", however we all knows it differs a lot from GTA.

If you haven't played this yet, It's 3 years cheaper now, so go out and buy it now!

All in all, this was my most favorite game of all time and the ending of the story absolutely concluded that.

Rockstar have done it again.

Jumping to the front of the band wagon
26 September 2013
What a series, great series, July arrived and we all sat down to watch season 8.

At the beginning of season 8 I was hopeful, mixed emotions for characters such as Zach Hamilton and Evelyn Vogel, but overall I was enjoying it, then this finale was scheduled, so I watched it.

First of all I would like to say sorry to the people who have watched and waited for every single Dexter episode and season, as in they watched the first ever episode on its release date. Unlike me, I got the season packs and just watched from season 1 to 7. Anyway, I can only imagine what it is like to finish your 8 years of love for this series, with this finale, You would kind of feel it was a little bit wasted after all those great episodes.

The thing is with the finale is, I kind of wanted to feel sad, I couldn't because the ending was so, so, so rushed. I remember a series by the name of "Last Resort" Huge potential, looked great, but the final episode was rushed.

When you enjoy the majority of the previous seasons of Dexter, you kind of feel the writers are perfectly capable of doing it again for the last season. I understand that there was a change in writers for this season compared the earlier ones, The older writers must be sitting on there stacks of cash laughing down at the below par season 8. Thing is with series' its a marathon, not a sprint.

Right now there's not much we can do other than move onto the other series', however I kind of hope they just remake season 8. Someone suggested Dexter: Returns, which seemed silly but I could see a writer seeing that potential gap in the market and seizing it. I know for sure i'd watch it.

More about why season 8 was below par; The Hannah and Dexter combination was not working for me, I didn't see too much chemistry, I couldn't get myself to liking her other than the fact she's quite hot. When you look back at season 8 you can honestly say "It's not like the previous ones".

As much as I would love to blurt out all the spoilers and explain how horribly they are portrayed, I cant. Everyone who has completed the series knows what went wrong, and to the people who are trying to say it's actually good. No.

Goodbye Dexter.

Oblivion (I) (2013)

Sam Rockwell was better.
15 August 2013
Oblivion is a story set years into the future; there was a war which humans won, but the earth was lost. Strange events occur with Jack (Tom Cruise) and it then triggers him to ask himself how much exactly does he know about his employers and his mission.

Now a run through the acting performances, Tom Cruise was excellent as always, he seemed to carry the movie through the...how do I say it; already used story line, but I'll get to that later. There's Olga Kurylenko (Julia) who, in every movie I see with her in it, she is the mysterious girl who the main character always falls in love with. Morgan Freeman (Beech) needs no introduction and pulled off a very nice performance, despite is fairly small role/screen time. You can't forget Andrea Riseborough (Victoria) who showed a good performance, I can't say it was excellent though.

The story, I really don't want to spoil anything but I'm sure the message board has had many many threads saying the exact same thing as I am thinking. I will just say there is a significant movie rated 8.0 and features Sam Rockwell in it, which follows a very, if not, too similar story line to Oblivion, however I'm here to review Oblivion, not... the other one.

Oblivion is a fun movie with different genres colliding, including romances, mystery and action/thriller. The DVD has recently come out and I suggest you pick one up and watch it and if you can, buy the cheapest one.

That unknown low budget love story...
13 August 2013
This story in my own words is Will Donner (Tom Sturridge) who knew no better than to follow Emma Twist (Rachel Bilson) his long lost childhood girlfriend, in which he believed it was his destiny to follow her rather then get a job and live his life.

Personally, I was flicking through the movie channels and on came this movie which began with a young adult Will Donner hitchhiking, at this moment the movie is going so slow to the extent which I am taken in to a life of this delusional young man.

Now more about the story and characters. Firstly, did I say story? I meant to say stories, of course there was the story of a guy who was in love with a girl from his childhood and could not detach himself however, a really effective story line surreptitiously entered the movie with the appearance Richard Jenkins (Playing Richard Twist, Emma's dad), he played a very obnoxious man towards his wife; Richard and Miranda Twist were a couple in which both shared the same love for each other but, struggled to understand each other (The 'bath' scene is the best scene to explain the relationship between then and arguably the most effective moment/scene between these two characters).

One other character/actor which I want to show appreciation for are Scott Mechlowicz (Jim Donner, Will's bigger and more successful brother). I adored Scott's sinister performance in 'Gone' and he almost carried his hateful/selfish character over to this movie and I hated him which is good. A bit of depreciation for characters now, I didn't think the rest of the characters put in a performance fulfilling their potential, especially Rachel Bilson as a main character. (Obviously I am excluding Tom Sturridge in this depreciation list, but I will get on to him next).

Tom Sturridge, wow. The first review I saw of this movie said something along the lines of "The whole cast seemed to be relying on the performance of Tom Sturridge", which is totally right! Now without plagiarizing this individuals review I think I can safely say Sturridge put in a really great performance, which made up for the slightly under- performing cast.

I cannot stress enough how much I wish this movie was "at least" a 6.0, let alone a 7.0. I found it really deep and thought this was a fairly original storyline, however with around 12,000 user ratings (when I am writing this review) you can tell the movie was not exactly a hyped up high budget movie.

John Carter (2012)

Disgraced
10 July 2013
I was disgraced by this and by disgraced, I mean extremely disappointed with the reviews this film received. I'm going to try prove the critics wrong.

The movie builds this stunning back story behind the "Man goes to Mars and meets a princess" story line and as the movie progresses we begin to forget about the story behind John Carter on Mars and it comes to bite us in the back;

With all Disney movies we expect the fairy tales and the happy endings, however with this movie Disney fans have been stunned, but I will say no more to avoid spoilers.

When the ratings fell below 7.0 I was extremely disappointed, simply due to the fact I really enjoyed this movie. I gave this movie a solid 9 out of 10 because I can watch it over and over again.

Fairy Tales and Happy Endings all the way!

Hey! Another Zombie Movie!
24 June 2013
Before booking seats to the Cinema to see this movie I tried to balance out the possible negatives and the possible positives of this movie, first of all "Another Zombie movie" was all I was hearing about this movie, however deep down I (thought I) knew this was going to have a major twist with an original ending.

Why to watch this movie? Firstly, the trailer is/was promising. Secondly, the rather quite forgotten Brad Pitt makes an appearance. And finally, if you are secretly an I Am Legend fan hunting for the sequel, this is good enough, I digress.

The movie was well done in terms of keeping viewers on the edge of their seats, along with a few slightly humorous zombie sound effects. Brad Pitt seemed slighting passive for the role, however I take nothing away from him and his respected reputation. Personally I was going for a solid 8/10 until the movie started coming to a close, had me walking out scratching my head.

This movie is "not" worth missing, although a lack of an effective story in my eyes, it had me sliding off of my seat.

Real Steel (2011)

I am against Corny/Cheesy Actors
13 July 2012
I had low expectations and I am sure many people did so too, however I did rather quite enjoy the movie for various factors in which I will List: Every scene had purpose - No pointless scenes which have no impact on the audience. The Ending - Original and Motivating, showed it had a moral to the story (If you watched the movie, you would know)

HOWEVER, unfortunately the kid put me off immensely. I appreciate his confidence in acting but his screaming and his cheesy lines were just off putting. I also noticed that his technological understanding was ridiculously high, which is rather unrealistic...And that is an understatement.

That being said, I can sense a 'Real Steel 2' and would hope it turns out as good as this first one. Sequels are very hard to perfect especially for this movie, but I digress.

This movie is worth watching and if you plan on watching it, be sure to prepare your tissues.
