Immaculate (2024)
A horror movie for grown ups and/or those who are evolved.
Wow. This had me hooked from the very beginning. It had one of those 'old school 70s horror' kind of feels. By all means, it's not perfect. But almost. In the beginning, there were some scenes that I personally felt were unnecessary and slowed the film down somewhat. But when it got going, it really got going and didn't miss a beat! Sydney Sweeney's performance was exceptional. The soundtrack was perfect too. One of those rare movies where you really have no idea where it's going. The ending was not at all what I expected. And I didn't want it to end. A horror movie for grown ups and/or for those who are evolved.
Wog Boys Forever (2022)
If you're from an ethnic family, you most likely will enjoy watching this 20 years later Wog Boy
Don't listen to the negative Nellies (who are predominately and most likely not from the generations that this is aimed at). Sure, it's not as good as the first one, and it's not award winning. It's not meant to be. It's just comedy. And taking the mickey. Silly fun comedy, which made me laugh out loud, and then shed a tear for the Demis Roussos song, which brought me back to memories of watching Bert Newton and Don Lane during my childhood days. I give it a solid 8 but bumped it up to a 10 because of the negative Nellies. If you're from an ethnic family like me, born in 1968, give or take 10 years, you most likely will enjoy watching this twenty years later Wog Boy. People need to lighten up and just have a laugh.
Wham! (2023)
Beautiful tribute to such a wonderful band
Thank you to the creators of this documentary and Netflix. In a nutshell, it was so well put together, with George and Andrew telling their story in its raw form - no pretence, no fluff, just the facts. It made me laugh, it made me cry, and then laugh again. It made this fifty-five year old woman re-live her youth. I cried at Careless whisper and Last Christmas, I laughed and danced around the lounge room to Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, trying to re-do the moves of a teenager, with creaking knees and hip joints, until it hurt. It was so worth it. I LOVED IT. For those of you who there back in the 80s and fell in love with the boys from Wham as I did, you will not be disappointed.
Catching Killers (2021)
Enough with the LOUD drum music
PLEASE. USA and Canada Doco makers. Enough with the over-dramatic LOUD drum music! It happens in every documentary and series ever made made in the US or Canada. You can barely hear the talking over the music. It's distracting and extremely annoying.
And enough with stretching out the content with useless information. Add in more crucial details. Get to the point! Keep it real! And a little humility wouldn't go astray either.
UK documentaries and series are so much better. Take a leaf out of their book. If you can get all of the above sorted, then this would have/could have been a score of 10.
Ghost Adventures: Cecil Hotel (2021)
Don't listen to the Negative Trolls
This was one of their best to date. The evidence that was captured was incredible. In particular, the correlation between historical facts and forensic findings and what was revealed by all the electronic, scientific equipment and Patti Negri. Those who claim to understand mental illness and then proceed to say that Ghost adventures "twisted the truth", have no idea. I have a sister who has a bipolar disorder, and I also have a degree in Forensics and Psychology, so my opinion is based on fact not on personal opinion - Personal opinion does not make it a 'fact'.
Peter Allen: Not the Boy Next Door (2015)
I highly recommend you watch this.
I have never written a review before, but I feel compelled to do so after reading an insipidly negative review that was obviously written by a person with absolutely no idea.
This two-part movie has an intangible quality (like most good Australian films), that makes it distinctive and appealing to watch; the acting was excellent, the cinematography was excellent, and the costume design was excellent. Peter Allen was a beautiful person whose life was beautifully depicted here with honesty and integrity. It made me laugh and cry.. and then cry some more... I highly recommend you watch this.
