What If...?: What If... Strange Supreme Intervened? (2023)
The best event since Endgame!
The last two episodes could easily have been a movie! What an epic finale. I wonder why other MCU series (apart from Loki) and movies have been so bad when you have such writers in-house. A terrifing finale and conclusion to the Supreme Strange narrative. I was hooting and cheering even at home. This has so many great moments and a perfect story arc. Everything from writing to direction to those grand action sequences work. The animations were beautiful and the setup was nowhere less than what we saw in Endgame. I don't often wriite reviews but for this one I couldn't help myself. Totally amazing.
Moon Knight: The Tomb (2022)
And the boredom continues....
I have no words to explain the sloppy writing, amateurish execution (let's discuss till they find us and kill us) and the dragging pace at which the events are unfolding. That final section is just a cherry on the top of garbage they are throwing at viewers. The only solace this episode offers is that Khonshu is not asking Steven repeatedly to suit up because (duh) he's gone for now. This could have been a good and crisp two hours movie with so much better execution but alas, they needed people to pay for subscription instead. In my opinion, this is the worst web series of Marvel so far and apart from the good beginning, it has failed to keep me intrigued.
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022)
A Spoof Done Well
Guys! This was a spoof. It was not meant to be realistic or carry out an out-of-the-box story arc. I enjoyed it pretty much except the final revelation , which to be humble went a bit overboard even for a spoof. Enjoyed it thoroughly otherwise!
Dexter: New Blood: Sins of the Father (2022)
I wish I could give 0
Seriously? After bringing back our beloved show and hooking up us all intrigued and especially delivering that perfect penultimate episode of the series, we get this garbage? Did the producers not learn from the crap they served us as the finale of original series? What was the purpose of making this up if you had to end up like this? Dexter's finale was by far one of my top 3 worst finales of any tv-series. However, this definitely tops that list.
Loki: For All Time. Always. (2021)
Michael Waldron has hit bulls eye. Was Expected!
Being a Rick & Morty fan I had complete faith in Michael Waldron and he delivered exactly what MCU fans wanted. With all the possibilities this can turn into and shape the fourth phase, my mind is already in an orgasmic state. Couldn't have asked for a better finale. Couldn't have asked for a better Loki series. This is it.
Servant (2019)
Hours and Hours of Build-Up for Nothing
The initial episodes of season 1 were actually good and opened up several mysteries & possibilities. However after midseason, it became and endless buildup leading to a finale which provided no answers. But yeah, Jericho was gone. The second season opened up even more plotlines, built up even more on questions but gave no answers again. But yeah, Jericho is alive again. I just wish to know what did Shyamalan smoke before creating this series. Not that I have great expectations from him these days, but I was expecting at least something watchable and mildly terrifying. All the characters here are irritating af and there is no meaning to anything that hapens on screen. I wish I can go inside and kill all the characters so this series can end in a somewhat satisfying way.
The Walking Dead: Here's Negan (2021)
You are so beautiful to me....
After such let downs in this extended 10C, this turned out exactly what fans had wanted for so long now and it was directed so beautifully that I couldn't take my eyes off even for a second. The best backstory this series have ever had. Easily one of the best episodes of the series and the best of this season along with Walk with Us. Eagerly waiting for the finale season now!
Pagglait (2021)
Thank you for this movie!
What a lovely cast! I began with this because they are the soul of the beautifully knit tale. Let's keep the technicalities aside, I want to go gaga over how beautifully so many issues have been raised with such poise without overdoing them (as most of the movies do). It's all so subtle that it just slides along with the main plot. Things as small (but as important) as a different cup given to a Muslim girl for tea or an aged person scolding a young one for things he himself is doing. Just loved all these small things. Brilliantly enacted by everyone, such beautifully written characters. I liked the subplot too but people can differ here as per their own choices. Moreover, that builds for the finale. And yes, I really liked how they ended the movie. But how did our lovely protagonist came to that conclusion? That has been drafted out perfectly. I simply loved how money changed everything in the movie and played a pivotal role in reforming Sandhya as a woman, as an individual, and as the protagonist. I might be a little generous with my rating but it's so good to watch something like this from Bollywood. We need more such movies!
WandaVision: The Series Finale (2021)
I'm Not Crying. You are Crying!
Have no words for this emotional finale after a gopod load of action. I think it was the perfect way to end the series and somewhere I knew this would happen but the way it has been performed on screen did make me so emotional.
PS, the two end credit scenes are just mind blowing!
Fear the Walking Dead (2015)
Couldn't Get Past First Two Seasons
I began watching this because somewhere down the line the characters intertwine. But I could not even finish off the second season. The characters here are so bad that I'm hooting whenever someone dies. They are so irritating that I don't want them to survive. Moreover, this show is not about zombies at all. It's people fighting people while the zombicalypse can wait. Right from the beginning! I wonder how this is onb 6th season already when even the first season was so bad! Would rather watch YouTube summaries to know what happens when so I can follow the original series.
WandaVision: On a Very Special Episode... (2021)
Whooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
That climax blew me away. I mean what a thrill! MCU guys, you have given the fans a wonderful gift. The best episode to the wonderful series so far.
Mrs. Serial Killer (2020)
Mrs. Acting Killer
Save your time and mujhe bas duaon me yaad rakhna for intimating you.
Unbearable torture. I'm writing this as the movie is still playing. I just can't tolerate Jacqueline!
Horrible! Horrible! Horrible!
It (2017)
You'll Float Too! You'll Float Too!
No one can adapt the saga Stephen King has written accurately because it is simply too big to be adapted into just two movie, but still 'IT' will surely scare you. I just loved how terrifying Pennywise is. I loved how one of my favorite chapters 'The Apocalyptic Rock Fight' is there in the movie with a kick-ass score in the background, I loved the kids who played the characters, I absofuckinglutely loved the BGM and I loved the comic relief; it was hilarious. What I didn't like was the excess of scares. It's not bad, but whenever I remember conjuring, I think that's the way to make a horror movie, the buildup should be so terrifying that you don't have to put that much closeup shots of the entity. Next, I have had the same problem from Andy Muschietti in Mama as well. I hate the overtly done CGI. Keeping it real is more scary than those cartoonish transitions the CGI monster makes. Apart from that, I loved it. 8 on 10 I just love when they do it in the old school way! Regarding the climax ****Spoilers**** It was decent. I mean, IT feeds on fear and it was somehow justified. They couldn't have put up the orgy thing in the movie or it would have been banned, but yeah, it was a poetic thing and hard hitting at the same time. PS, I watched in IMAX and yes, the big screen helps.
Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017)
For People who Still Believe in Love
While most of the people have adopted a practical lifestyle and approach, some, may be a tiny minority of people still believe in love. Thank you Imtiaz Ali, Shahrukh Khan and Anushka Sharma for keeping their hopes alive. It's a simple movie about love, just the old school love. Sad that we've come so far that the idea of two people falling in love and having a clichéd happy ending is boring. Imtiaz is not at his best in the movie, I agree and it could have had a shorter second half, but for most part of the movie, I had a stupid smile on my face because it felt good. I love the movie where I feel good and happy because people hardly make them anymore. I loved the acts and whoever said that SRK should stop doing such movies can go to hell coz he was terrific in his role. I loved many dialogues and messages in the movie. My favorite would be 'Express yourself because that's what's your role. What the other person thinks about it is their job. You have to do yours and they will do theirs.' and that 'if something is gone from your life, it is not necessary that you have to forget it. It's not necessarily bad if it's gone and even if it hurts you because for that period, you were actually happy, may be the happiest you have ever felt.' PS, if we can keep watching the same superheroes defeating the same super villains who are keen to destroy the world again and again, if we can watch some robots fight each other every two years, if we don't mind the same overdone visual effects layered on top of every movie, we certainly don't mind watching you recreate the same theme in your movies.
Dunkirk (2017)
It's not a movie, but art!
It's not a movie, but an artistic piece that will surely bag many Oscars. I was a tad bit disappointed because something was missing from the movie. I absolutely loved the direction. Nolan shines here and arguably, it's all in his court this time because there is no script to the movie. It's all about how he has portrayed the events through his perspective. I loved the BGM, which is obvious when Hans Zimmer is involved. I loved the acts; so believable. even Harry Styles, a singer gave a flawless act, now that's good direction. I loved the cinematography. Those grand shots with that epic score was phenomenal. I loved the climax scene. It gives you goosebumps literally. I loved how it does not involve back stories of characters, those blood boiling dialogues, war strategies, lead characters coming out like hero or the melodrama that is common with war movies. It is about the rescue and that's what you get to see. Loved his narration in three different perspectives. But still, I missed something.
Life (2017)
A Good One Time Watch
Life is a decent movie with some decent acts and visuals. If you have seen the likes of Alien, you'll see what's coming, but the movie still manages to maintain the thrill. A good one time watch, which could have been slightly better without the forced climax. That stupid climax really put me off!
Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
A Warmhearted and Refreshing Experience
Marvel definitely knows how to pull off anything except *cough* Age of Ultron *coughs*. Never though watching the same friendly neighborhood spider-man would be such a refreshing experience. The movie is total fun, warmhearted and a treat for web slinger's fans. A reboot this early after The Amazing Spider-man couldn't have been done better.
Beauty and the Beast (2017)
A CGI Mess that Lacks Emotions
Beauty and the Beast is a huge mess. None of the characters looked convincing enough. CGI of the Beast was poor and not for a single second he appeared to be promising; all thanks to the CGI and voice over. The songs were dull and I felt the urge to skip them, which I did, a couple of times. There was no chemistry between Belle and the Beast. The acts were over the top and not at all convincing. Bill Condon has managed to create another below average piece, which is not a surprise if you have seen Twilight!
Dhoom:3 (2013)
Molestation of Logic and Pathetic Execution
Molestation of Logic and Pathetic Execution Well I have many titles I can give to the movie and this is one of them. I don't think that I can review this movie without giving spoilers so those who have not watched, please don't read ahead.
Well I have been criticized for pointing out the bad things and neglecting the good things so I will begin with the positive things.
1) Kamli Song - I can't believe whom I saw dancing was Katrina. Gosh she looks like a pro now. Excellent strip tease with brilliant choreography.
2) Malang Malang - Best song of the movie and brilliantly choreographed.
3) Aamir - The so called perfectionist is not a perfectionist anymore but I will talk about that later. The good thing is he really learned to dance. Not great but good tap dance in the beginning.
4) The twist in the second half towards the end. That was unexpected. Kudos to that.
Enough said, now the criticism: 1) Shame on them for copying the central theme of the first half from Prestige.
2) Shame on them for copying the character back story from Now You See Me.
3) If you can't pay the loan, first you kill yourself and then your sons will have every right to rob that bank and destroy them. For? 4) Gravity defying stunts in the entry scene of abhishek bachchan. Too fake and too exaggerated.
5) I did not expect a superhero in the movie. Well yes there is one. It's Aamir's bike that has been straight landed from a spoof of Transformers may be. Who knows? 5.1) The bike can practically been modified into anything. 5.2) The bike allows Aamir to ride on a rope.
6) Silly slow mo scenes: Seriously man they are stale! 7) What a degradation of a female's character. One of the worst character I have ever seen is Katrina's. She dances. and then she appears in the climax just to force Aamir, I mean both Aamir die. Feminists groups are you watching it? 8) What about the constipated look on Aamir's face? Wonder what happened to Mr. Perfectionist, he could not even enact stammering perfectly. If anyone else would have acted the same it would have been fine but c'mon he is a perfectionist. May be he was too busy learning how to tap dance? 9) After the climax, I realized I had to laugh on Ali's pathetic humor. Or may be they forgot that what may have made us laugh happened in 2004. It is 2013. We don't laugh on those things anymore.
10) Wait a second, how did Aamir robbed the banks? Oh you know what, that was not important moreover, they did not have enough time. It was just a 3 hour movie. How could they show how he robbed banks. Nah that's not important at all.
11) How did they get caught in the end? Oh I tell you how, because abhishek passed a dialogue something like 'raat choron ki hoti hai subah pakad lenge' and then the masterminds get caught on a bridge. BIG LOL.
12) Chase goes on and on and on and on till it becomes duller and duller and duller and duller. I don't know if duller is a word but everything is fair when they call it an original movie.
13) Swat teams goes inside and are tricked by a gas. Oh I never knew they are not trained for such situations. Poor SWAT team, they had to be assisted by super cops Jai and Ali who dint have gas masks either. oh but you know they are superheroes.
14) Aamir left Jai to die from the roller coaster. I thought he was intelligent when the twist had come. But may be he forgot about Ali as he had to rob a bank. But wait a min, when he gets another chance to kill Jai, he stops. WHY? All of a sudden, a change of emotions? Oh I forgot everything is possible in love and war and Bollywood flicks.
15) RIP VFX Am tired of writing right now. I still can't think why Aamir agreed for a movie that had no script at all.
Honest Movie Rating (After being lenient) 4 on 10 for the four points mentioned.
Movie Rating by a Nolan fan - 0 would be a shame too.
Thor: The Dark World (2013)
Entertaining but with flaws
Pros: Its Thor and it will always be entertaining. Comic scenes are perfect and make you laugh. The second half has some great visual effects and good action. The climax fight is what most of the people dint like in the reviews but I loved it. Chris Hemsworth has owned the character and I can't imagine anyone else in that outfit now. Loki is funny and intriguing. Overall a good package but not as good as the first installment.
Cons: Comic scenes were good but there were too many. If you wanted it to be dark, you will be a bit disappointed. As a character, Malekith was not developed properly. The story does not revolve much around him even though he is the main villain of the movie. The first half was a bit dull as compared to the second half. The 3d effects are not up to the mark and i was feeling irritated watching it in 3D as there was nothing so great about them that I had to watch everything with a tint of black.
Overall if you like Thor, you will like the movie. He is my favorite Marvel character (of course after Tony Stark). Natalie Portman has nothing much to do except being a mess or the source of problems for Thor and Asgard.
The post credit scene reveals a bit about Avengers: Age of Ultron and was worth waiting for.
The post post credit scene is something you may as well skip as it's definitely not worth the wait.
I liked the movie but wanted it to be better.
7 on 10
Krrish 3 (2013)
When will Bollywood get Original?
4 on 10 originally but for the efforts 5 on 10
Plus Points Quite an ambitious project and clearly they tried to put in everything in such a small budget. Commendable !
Criticism What are the superpowers of Krrish? Answer - anything that fits for the crowd. He can now fly as well.
What are the superpowers of Kaal ahem or was it Charles Magneto? (a mix of professor xavier and magneto) oh he even have kaya who represents mystique.
Quite an original concept! ahem or was it totally inspired from x men?
Pathetic dialogues. The best one was a kid saying "kyun kaal ab fat gayi?" WTF !
Overdose of emotions and forced insertion of dialogues that aimed at intriguing ur emotions but falls flat.
Totally unoriginal as a movie.
Kaal looked pathetic in his suit.
The heart transformation was typical (kaya)
Overtly clichéd story that you would have guessed after watching trailers itself.
The most frustrating point was that there is no proper character development for any of the villains.
Priyanka is used only as a reproducing unit who emerges whenever she is needed to turn the events in the favor of villains.
The climax could not have gone worse than that. What were they hoping a sequel? Please a big NO.
The songs. Made me sleep
I never talked about vfx till now coz the budget was so so low that no one could have done any kind of wonders. But clearly I have seen better visual effects in Ra. One and Robot. Almost every scene looked fake.
After reading the reviews I was finally hoping to see some good script or dialogues or anything coz I knew the effects will be quite average as I had assumed in the trailers but it did not even stood up on any other aspect. A typical Bollywood movie in the curtains of being called a superhero movie. Please make something original Bollywood.
The Purge (2013)
The promising concept gone all wrong
The concept was pretty good but soon, the whole focus of the movie changes to offer slasher material to the gore fans. The tensed environment may make you shudder here or there but the entire purpose of The Purge is lost and it becomes a usual house intrusion movie. This is where the movie falls flat.
The kids are unbearable and every decision that is made in the movie is indigestible. If it would have started as a house invasion movie, I may have rated better but since it began with something else and finished off being totally out of the line, I would give it
4 on 10
