Ford v Ferrari (2019)
PULSATING
I don't know a crap about car racing but the way the movie has been made it kept me on the edge for the entire 2.5 hrs. I think this is what proves the quality of a sports movie when it keeps a novice interested and Google-ing about the details of that sport..
Guru (2007)
Hindi Film Industry needs more movie like this..
Beautiful movie. The director ventures into a plot that is seldom touched in India: The plight of Indian Businessmen, the prejudice that the general public has towards them, the disgust with which they are seen. The directions and scrrenplay is very close to some great Hollywood biographies/life-stories like Aviator and Wolf of Wall Street. The director covers a lot of ground in 2.30 hrs and nowhere it feels that the story is getting ahead of itself. And last but not the least, Abhishek Bachchan is exceptional in the movie, from his expressions to his dialogue delivery to his body language he looks like he is in reality Gurukant Desai. I really wish that other directors take a cue from this movie and bring to forefront such stories in breathtaking fashion.
A Death in the Gunj (2016)
Finally something good in a crappy year of Bollywood
A lot has already been written about the story and direction and how the movie almost resembles an engrossing and beautiful book .But one thing without which the movie would have been not this good, has to be Massey. He is absolutely majestic in the role of this shy adolescent. Not just depending on his dialogues, the actor completely gets into the skin of the character and lets his stunning body language do all the work. With all the crap that has come into Bollywood this past year, this definitely has to be in the Top 3 performances of 2017. Just stunning.
Suits: Faith (2015)
Gem of an episode
Easily one of the best episodes ever in the American television history. This may seem as an overstatement to some but most of the suits fan will agree with me.The direction and screenplay makes this episode stand on par with great and stupendous episodes like 'Ozymandios' from Breaking Bad and 'The Battle of Hardhome' from GOT. A rare admission of his past mistakes finally brings out a moment of human weakness from the Great Harvey Spectre. Mike's story moves your soul. All the supporting cast play out their part beautifully. To be honest I never expected an episode of this quality in this series. And the highlight of the episode is Mike's conversation with the Father. I hope they follow this episode with more masterpieces like this one.
Tamasha (2015)
A different Movie.
Imtiaz Ali is back with a bang. Tamasha is a movie which will have its own fan following. It is not a Jab We Met or a Love Aajkal. Instead it's a Rock star. In fact I would say it is better than Rock star in some areas (editing and acting). The acting is amazing and Ranbir especially is at his brilliant best in this one with Deepika complimenting him beautifully. Their chemistry sets the screen on fire. Ranbir has proved his acting mettle yet again with his versatility throughout the movie. The songs have used very well and the situation for the song Tum Saath Ho is very good. The movie gets better as it progresses and reaches the zenith in the scene with Ranbir and his family. The music by A. R. Rahman is neither up to the maestro's level which he has achieved in the past nor on par with the previous Imtiaz Ali movies. But overall its a nice movie and definitely a different treat than the regular masala flicks.
