Xing fu e du (2011)
Sorry but a waste of time really.
This story revolves around xiao hong (chi-ling) journey to happiness where she is troubled by the ultimate decision to choose the right guy. She has a twin sister(xioa ching) who is also in about the same situation. Chen Kun played a lonely wealthy boy. He is lonely because he understands that his friends are taking advantages of his wealth but it is just mind-boggling because it is ultra obvious that xiao hong was attracted solely to his wealth. My best guess is his other exploitative friends do not look as nice.
Regret to find the movie a huge( infinitely huge) disappointment since i quite enjoy watching Chen Kun in his other earlier movies.Tony Yang is a little delight to lift my mood while i was struggling to watch until the end.It is funny and a nice surprise to see him taking this role which is quite different from his previous movies.
Overall, i am not touched by the movie and in fact felt cheated. Wanted to give up watching after less than 30 minutes.I can't really say the plot is predictable (because i predict it can't be that simple) but it is certainly dull. No much chemistry between the chen kun and chi-ling. It is like watching commercial shots displaying a model bride and her groom for a bridal/wedding shop's advertisements. The supposed bride and groom could have just met prior to the advertisement shoot, just to be exact.
My vote could have been a negative figure (less than 1) if not for the scale given is from 1-10. Regret to say that in hindsight, i rather spent the time playing with my cat. I hope there are other lucky people who truly enjoy this movie because i understand it takes a lot of efforts and resources to produce one movie no matter how simple the story is. Many thanks and i regret if my words should appear as unpleasant to anyone.
Yuan yang hu die (2005)
Addictive and Unforgettable. Can only wish it never ends.
I am deeply touched by this movie, the last time i had similar feeling was after watching Maggie Cheung and Leon Lai, Comrades Almost a Love Story.
A West Lake Moment has a remarkable lingering effect, i keep on watching until i lost count. Sometimes the whole movie and other time just to remember. It reminds of youth, u-turns, nice surprises, improbable events that you dare not even to dream but really happened and the addictive feeling of adrenaline rush to have butterflies in your belly.
All in all, as close as to be dreaming. I envy for people who are lucky to have had similar experiences even for Zhou Xun and Chen Kun despite they were merely playing/acting the roles of these lucky people.
Really appreciate the production/casting people for making the effort to recruit chen kun and zhou xun to be part of this movie. They really share a genuinely precious chemistry together that will set the bar really high for others.
A truly must see. I can only regret watching it too late but beware as you will be longing for more...butterflies.
