Leave It to Beaver (1997)
to Erik V-D fans out there...
After hearing that Erik Von Detten was in this movie when he was younger... I was very curious to see it. Once the movie started, I could tell it was sort of a satire... which is totally cool and fun to watch. Beaver is a very charming character and Wally would be the perfect child if he acted the same in today's society.
This movie had my attention the whole way through. It was totally cute, and had a lot of references that little kids may not "get" ... Erika Christiansen is in this movie too and she looked way different back then. I think they did a good job in this movie trying to portray the way children think and act and perceive the world. Although the mother is portrayed a bit like a Stepford Wife, it isn't that big of a distraction. You really begin to feel for the characters in this movie even though there hasn't been a whole lot of character development.
Nicholas Nickleby (2002)
I recommend because...
When I first looked at this movie cover, I was drawn to it by the actor and actress (Charlie Hunnam and Anne Hathaway). Both have proved their acting talents to me in previous movies, however, the fact that this movie was not very popular made me question if this movie would be a boring summary of the book which I had never read. Upon watching the beginning of the movie, I quickly realized that I would be very entertained by both the set and the inspirational messages to be conveyed. I absolutely love the personalities of each main character and their importance to the movie. I often paused the movie just to jot down some very meaningful and wise quotes. There is a clear execution of every checkpoint of a plot and I was very very pleased after watching this movie! I think Charlie Hunnam did an excellent job!
Say Anything... (1989)
I recommend
I really enjoyed this movie because of the quality casting as well as the believability of the characters in the movie. This movie makes you think, laugh, and feel for the main characters. I recommend this movie strongly even though it is a movie from 1989. It is cute to see the way people lived and acted back then especially if you were very young at that time. The storyline is easy to follow and is exciting except for brief moments showing the main female actress and her father. I think most females would enjoy this movie because it is romantic but realistic at the same time. However, I think only a few men would enjoy this movie...probably the men who are very artistic and can appreciate a good film free from superficial hype (such as in high-budget films).
