And the award for the most wasted potential of the year goes to....
9 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Frustration. That's what I felt after watching this movie.

The God of thunder is dumbed down even more.

You can probably count the amount of serious dialogues on one hand.

Nathalie Portmans character is great and finally makes a return but she is just thrown right back into the Thor-story with very little meaningful buildup.

And to absolutely no ones surprise, Christian Bale does an amazing job bringing this menacing new villain to life but they waste it by giving him a minimal amount of screen time.

On a positive note; The battle on the black and white planet is one of the coolest looking battle sequences that i've ever seen! It looks genuinely amazing and it was by far the highlight of the movie for me.

So yes, I just felt frustrated afterwards. Cause there are things in it that's genuinely really good. The visuals, imagery and the villain but they don't utilize it properly.

Very cool, clever and fun!

Not exactly movie of the year-material but a must watch if you're into stylish, cool and fast paced action movies with some witty dialogues.

Features some seriously great and creative action choreography and an even greater cast, even if some of the talent got minimal screen time.

Man of Steel (2013)

The most underrated superhero movie of all time. Period.

Honestly if you rate everything about this movie pound for pound, you can't possibly deny that it's a great piece!

It has an amazing soundtrack, stunning visuals and action sequences, beautiful cinematography, great casting, good acting and some really well written dialogue about morale, responsibility and how the World most likely would react if one or more god level beings would show up.

The overall tempo and storytelling of the movie is the one thing where I can see people having issues with it, even if I personally don't agree.

Unfortunately for Znyder and WB, Man of Steel got heavily overshadowed by the astronomical expectations set by The Dark Knight trilogy and the success of the early and more lighthearted MCU movies.

It's in my opinion just a question of wrong place at the wrong time.

Man of Steel getting poor reviews is the most unfair criticism of a movie in recent history and it deeply saddens me.

It has however aged like the finest bottle of wine in the back of the cellar and I am still hopeful that it eventually will get more time in the sun and the recognition it rightfully deserves!
