Rebel Moon - Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness (2024)
Hope you like slow motion
I was looking forward to part two of this story, mostly because I was hoping that it would somehow save the first one. Oh boy was I wrong. The movie is extremely slow, every ten minutes I find myself sitting with my phone scrolling on social media because nothing happens. It's not until the one hour mark that things start to move forward.
Also, I really hope you like slow motion effects. The movie is just past the two hour mark in length. Without slow motion scenes it would probably barely touch 90 minutes. Yes, it's almost as if the director just discovered slow motion and has to use it everywhere.
I'm not going to go into spoilers or anything, there are plenty of plot holes and tons of question marks. Basically, if you didn't like part 1 you won't like part 2. If you did like part 1 you'll most likely be disappointed of part 2. Slow, dull and uninspiring.
Damsel (2024)
Dull typical Netflix movie
I skipped this movie until I saw a few comments on Facebook that were positive. Oh boy, should have skipped it. The best part about the movie is the last minute. Everything up to that point is a female protagonist that screams and cries more than actual sentences. Millie's character is boring with an over the top character progression that makes no sense at all. There's also Netflix's typical killing of innocent animals that does nothing to the story.
There are some weird obvious mistakes in the movie, like serious burns that just disappear from the body or switches places. Most obvious in the final scene where Millie's character gets a very serious burn on her right side of the upper chest, a few scenes later that has become a scar on her left side. And there are several of these mistakes throughout the entire film.
Overall a disappointment, waste of subscribers money and waste of talent. Looking at Angela Basset, not Millie as she seems to only be able to play one type of character.
2/10 - A typical Netflix production.
Primal (2019)
Meaningless brutal and every episode is the same
I went into this thinking it would a good series based on the topic "caveman and dinosaur become friends after tragic events". Boy was I wrong.
Every episode is the same just different variations. Meaningless depictions of variation of killing animals.
I made it to episode three where the two "heroes" hunt down and brutally slaughter an old and weak mammoth that have gone stray from its herd. Such a meaningless violence. The two episodes before was no better.
This series had all chances to make something different and epic, especially with its unique style and sound design. And they choose to ruin i by just making a animal slaughter series.
A unique duo had all the changes to revenge and stand up against the reason that brought them together in the first place, but they turn out to be no better.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Visually stunning but full of annoying things
I'm going to start of saying that this movie is a milestone in visual graphics, it is stunning and beautiful as well as impressive. The VFX team and the animators deserve everything coming from this point on.
That is where it ends though. Cameron really wanted this movie to be 180+ minutes. The entire story could have been told in 120. It's obvious there's an extra hour or so of scenes just there to show the pretty visuals. The story is outdrawn and there are scenes that could have been completely left out and be told by short clips. The slaughter of all the animals is one of those scenes and a scene I'd rather not have seen.
Then there's the whole accent going on among the Sully kids, it's "bro" this and "bro" that, in almost every sentence to a point where it becomes outright annoying to listen to their conversations and lose all interest in the characters, their story and what happens to them.
Same goes with Neytiri and her screams and breaths, it sounds like she's had a cold that she never recovered from. I understand that's how the actress sound, but they could have fixed it somehow.
Visually stunning with a story and characters that are easily forgotten. I walked out of the cinema not really caring when the next movie will be released.
Christmas Bloody Christmas (2022)
If you like the F word this is for you
If you like extremely bad written dialogue, actors that are so bad at acting out that horrible dialogue, annoying 1st person perspective views and no character progression this movie is for you.
I'm having a hard time watching this for constant F bombs alone. But the dialogue is just cringe, conversations that sounds like they are written by someone who never had an adult conversation, ever.
The actors are clearly in this project for a quick cash grab, that are boring, generic and lack emotions. There's no character progression what so ever and every character from beginning to end is forgettable after 5 minutes.
Tldr; Boring, forgettable, bad.
God's Favorite Idiot (2022)
If you have seen one you have seen them all
I'm sorry but, Melissa McCarthy is not doing this show any favors. Just like Any other show and movie she's in she's overacting, drawing scenes and dialogues out to the point where the joke just a boring punchline.
I don't even mind the mediocre acting or the pointless side characters (which by the way more often than not are more fun and have better dialogues). It's just that... Every scene with Melissa is just a drug / alcohol reference with a 10 minute monologue that never gets to the joke, or she thinks the entire scene is one big joke and audience should laugh from start to finish. No...
So to end as it started, if you have seen one show / movie with Melissa you have seen them all.
The Requin (2022)
I'm writing this review to spare 90 minutes of your life
First of, if you're looking for a good shark movie then download any screensaver or aquarium app to your phone as they are likely to have more sharks in them than this. Heck, even the poster have more shark in it than the movie.
Second, if you open up MS Paint and make some doodling, paint a little water here, a few clouds there and voilà, you have made better CGI than what's in this movie.
I have no clue what the budget for CGI was in this movie but apparently not enough.
When you decide to put bad CGI fire on a bad CGI raft in bad CGI water with real people bopping in real water strangely smudged together you know you've made a bad decision watching this movie.
Thirdly, the use of green screen is so over the top bad that it's actually hilariously fun to watch how bad the CGI backplate is and they tried to hide by blurring everything they could.
Please for the love of filmmaking, stay away from this movie!
Cobra Kai (2018)
Great Show With Great Cast
William Zabka steals the show!
One of the best successor shows I have ever seen. The story is well written and stays true to the movies from the 80's. All the flashbacks really ties everything together. Acting is really good from the main cast as well as all the cameos, especially liked the episode with Yuji Okumoto in season 3, that episode was full of cameos and surprises.
The only thing I want to comment negatively on is the fighting, more than once you can see the no contact kicks and hits and that punches are more pushes than actual punches. But overall this is a really good show and big surprise.
Let's hope the show will keep running or at least gets a well deserved ending and doesn't get spontaneously shut down.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
Apparently kids are allowed to do anything
I don't even know where to begin. First of all it takes almost an hour of the movie to build up to a point where something actually happens. But that's not the big problem with this so called reboot. Apparently these kids are allowed to do anything without any adult caring. Release a ghost in the middle of town? No one cares. Drive like robbers through town? No one cares. Play with unknown electrical devices found hidden in an abandoned house? No one cares. It's a mess all the way through and feels more like a Stranger Things wannabe slapped with a ghostbuster label.
I was amazed to see some of the old actors make a cameo, they should have stayed away from this.
I'd honestly watch the last incredible bad remake of this, Hemsworth was the only good thing in that but this is just bad all through.
There's no character progression, the Phoebe character is a joke and the other kids are forgettable.
Wait till it release on a streaming service if you wanna see this, it's not worth a ticket.

Young Wallander (2020)
A slap in the face for Wallander fans
Where to begin. The first 30 minutes of episode one is as good as it gets. After there it's all down hill.
I'm from Sweden and a big fan of the Wallander series. This is just a huge slap in the face for all Wallander fans. Adam Pållsons bad swenglish with hoarse voice does not do well. I cannot fathom why they insisted in making this in english instead of making a good Swedish "kriminalare".
The plot have so many holes that it's a joke and in the last episode nothing makes sense.
I do hope from all Wallander fans that this series end with season 1. And if they ever decide to remake, for the love of god make it in Swedish!
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019)
When an action flick tried to be a super hero movie
Not gonna lie, the action is great. But when the CGI is as bad as Superman's lip fiasco it's not impressive. Also, the movie is full of plot holes just too get the story rolling. Hobbs and Shaw constantly fighting each other.
Last but not least, Ryan Reynolds character and his Deadpool attitude ruins every scene he's in.
Tldr; The only entertaining part about this are the fight scenes.
Upgrade (2018)
Never heard of this hidden gem
So, I never heard of this movie before it was referenced on a YouTube channel. And oh boy was it a hidden gem for me. Acting was just great and the CGI was not over the top, the few actual CGI moments was just right.
The fight scenes was awesome, never seen camera movements like that before giving the ultimate illusion of that the main character is not in control. This was a great movie with a very unexpected twist at the end. You think you can guess the end, at the you say "I told you so" and then the twist slaps you the face telling you "No you didn't".
Crawl (2019)
Over the top luck and screams
Let's just start with, if you like movies where the main characters survive with pure luck even though they should have died yesterday times or movies with more screams and grunting than actual conversation, this is for you.
There's no real story or character development and the main characters could have escaped in the first fifteen minutes easy.
The alligators are well made, I'll give them that. But sometimes you wonder if it's the same effect team as the asylum movies have. It's that horrible at times with over the top motion blur and out of focus alligators.
I've seen worse movies but I've definitely also seen better in the same genre.
At least the dog survive.
The 100 (2014)
Season 3 killed the show
One of the more refreshing and unique shows on TV, mixing future with medieval genre (fantasy, sci-fi). The first two seasons made you want to see more and you will fall in love with the characters.
Then came season 3 and completely ruined the show. A unique show ruined by writers eagerly wanting to make the show like every other survival/medieval show on TV. Kill of main characters for shock value while keeping characters that should have been killed of long ago. Adding blood, gore, more violence and major plot holes instead of keeping it unique for today's standards. Changing and rewriting characters.
Season three will make you hate and question every characters move and judgement, what they stood for in season one and two are completely gone and every new episode is more confusing than the other.
I started watching this show just because I needed something to watch for thirty minutes and got hooked. Season three got me unhooked, more and more with every episode.
Don't get me wrong, the plot for season three is a good twist and added more of the unique blend between two genres. It's just that the rest of the writing is all over and changed the entire show towards the worse.
A unique show ruined by the writers greed, a unique genre ruined by making it just like everything else.
Utøya 22. juli (2018)
They had such a good chance
The possibility to make a great movie from a tragic disaster was endless. Instead they decided to make a weird no clip film where you never see the shooter, bad camera use and no music. Acting most of time feel non scripted and improvised.
Instead of making a really good feature film they made a bad Blair Witch copy with no progression. It's a bad reminder of what actually happened and a joke for the victims involved.
Independence Day: Resurgence (2016)
Spend your money elsewhere
So. I don't know where to start really so I'll just start from the beginning.
This is the same movie as the first one, just bigger and more expensive. It has the alien punch to the face, the dog that get rescued, the top of building group of people and more. And the only part of movie that made me giggle was towards the end, in a school bus when they wipe the windshield. The one liners are none existent or bad at best.
About the movie it self.
I wanted to leave the theater after 15 minutes. There's nothing there except for a cheesy look back at Bill Pullmans speech from the first movie and some weird explanation how humanity have used the alien technology to apparently change their entire community from weapons to flying cars entire cities and space travel, sure good enough, I guess that could happen. But then they introduced the bromance, two best friends that now hate each other. Then and there you knew that in the end they become friends again and save the world, cliché.
The cast from the original movie are just there, they don't add anything to the movie. Will Smiths character have somehow died, you never get to know how, but apparently the worlds best pilot that can fly an alien ship and save the world is dead. The writers didn't care enough to give a good reason or another story (I think Will Smith read the script and and said no on, smart move).
*** SPOILER ***
Without spoiling the movie to much. OK, here's a big spoiler (The end) and the the part I had a real hard time with. Bill Pullmans character dies for no reason at all. He was suppose to sacrifice himself to save the world, and there was a "sad" moment with his daughter and so on but in the end it does nothing. He blows the mother ship to pieces but the queen survives an alien nuclear blast and goes on a rampage because she had a personal shield... That same shield is minutes later taken down by two simple alien fighter ships and killed instantly. So the shield that could handle a photon nuclear blast when one of the biggest stars in the movie sacrifices himself is later taken down by two lousy spaceships.
The dialog is cheesy, there's no emotions, a whole bunch of familiar big Hollywood stars that ads nothing to the story...
Go spend your money somewhere else, this was 2016 biggest disappointment and someone in Hollywood should get fired for releasing/writing this.
Man of Steel (2013)
One of the worst superhero movies to date.
I know a lot of people have said that the movie is good and that the director was looking to keep viewers happy. I can not agree with this in any way. There's nothing remotely close to the old Superman movies or even the most of the comics. This movie is just one big CGI compilation with way to much action and explosions that must have killed more civilians than than Superman could ever save. There's not even the slightest little rescue of a simple citizen and the one explosion after the other just becomes to much topped of with angry screaming villains.
I'm sorry if I have ruined someones day with this review but really, true Superman fans can not and will not like this movie and Mr. Snyder just lost a fan. You can not direct if you can not bring out the true feeling in a movie. And making a new version of a movie series that is cult and totally revert that to just another "explosive CGI without a real plot" movie is the sign to quit the businesses. Really, I'm sorry. I have nothing good to say about this movie, the director or the writers.
Last words: This movie feels more like one of those B movies you see released before a big release with similar name.
Best regards - A true Superman fan for 22 years.
