Sage of Time (2020)
Captivating from start to finish
Wonderful script, talented actors and direction, beautiful landscape and absolutely stunning cinematography. The film deserves every ten star rating it has received. Cannot fault this one. Several moments throughout that get you thinking about love and relationships on a deeper level. This 100% is a film that stays with you.
The I-Land (2019)
The Room level of cringe without the fun
Concept isn't so bad, it's like a Student film version of 'Lost' meets 'Westworld', but (unfortunately) like it was written by Tommy Wiseau.
Such a waste, concept definitely not original but could have been watchable. This has so many completely illogical and irrational character motivations and circumstances. They lost their memory, we get it... but there are so many holes around this that do not get addressed. Each character mostly argued with one another for no reason or flirted/ tried to have sex for no reason. Some dialogue was unbearable.
Some very confusing reactions and performances from actors. Most of the actors did seem to be trying... but it just couldn't make up for the terrible writing.
Nice location, some cool shots... (hence the 2 star) however bad CGI and special effects. Really annoyed by the wounds and injuries, not realistic at all.
I could go on and on and on... its really not good and dont sit through a few episodes to give it a chance cause it doesnt get better.
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019)
Beyond Disappointed
If I wanted a film with a stupid love triangle that is extremely frustrating, repetitive and disappointing I would have rewatched 'Twilight.'
This is not factually accurate, it plays out as more of a romantic drama than a thriller. Zero justice for any of the actual victims of Bundy's horrific crimes. It's just one very long, boring version of court room events where Zac Efron flirts with tonnes of girls and denies doing anything. I don't think Efron was able to portray this monstrous man accurately. Efron is a good actor it just isn't a true portrayal of Bundy. Bundy was cold and emotionless, he did not cry or show any emotion other than his smug, arrogance in the courtroom. It's clear from the real footage in doco that this films depiction of Ted is completely contrived.
Maybe if I hadn't seen the documentary I would have been able to sympathize more with Ted. Once you see what this man did it is VERY hard to unsee that. The only reason I gave one star is because the last five minutes was okay. It's a shame the rest of the film was not depicted in a more accurate way, this could have been a great thriller.
If you haven't already watch the documentary of the Ted Bundy Tapes, please do. If you have and you are considering watching this, avoid at all costs. It will only leave you frustrated, angry and extremely disappointed.
If you watch this before the documentary, you will probably finish the doco very confused. You also might think "Why on earth did they alter events and change facts in the movie to make this guy more likable? I don't get it, he's a monster who raped, killed and had sex with corpses." I hear you, I hear you.
You (2018)
Frustrating and Predictable
Main characters are so unlikable I was actually vouching against them the entire show. I gave this 3 stars for the only one likable character, she arrives 3/4 of the way through and is only in for a couple of episodes. But basically the whole time I was waiting, and hoping, thinking maybe I'm wrong? Maybe there will be something good coming.... Got to the 'big finale' to be not so surprised, I already figured that would happen half way through the series. Absolutely terrible predictable ending, the most frustrating and unbelievable part of the whole series. And sooo many issues with things being way to convenient for the lead, way too easy and he just repeated the same thing over and over it was boring. Im left feeling extremely frustrated and angry with myself for watching until the end. Should have stopped on episode 4 trust me it doesnt get any better.
Maniac (2018)
Absolutely the best show in a long time!
I never leave comments but I felt the need to today, I just binge watched this show and think it was one of the most moving series I have seen in a long time. Emma Stone was just absolutely flawless in her performance from beginning to endand Acting from all the cast was actually brilliant even down to the smaller roles. The production design, costume, hair and makeup were all so unique and really did transport you into the different worlds throughout. I really, really enjoyed how real and raw the family portrayals were- some absolutely heartbreaking moments in there. But there was always a light, funny moment around the corner (an actual 'laugh out loud' which I find is rare)! Quirky yet incredibly raw, an eye opening perception of the world. Will probably have you questioning everything! Highly, highly recommend.
