Civil War (2024)
I'm sure there was a point
Interesting movie, but with some flaws.
To begin with, there is no context. We don't know what started the Civil War, no reason why. No indication of how long its been going on. We meet photojournalists/journalists (Lee and Joel) wanting to go to DC, to try and interview the President. They team up with Sammy, and old and disabled journalist) and Jessie, a budding war photographer. They head out fir their cross-country trip, where they endure/witness battles and bad guys. Jessie was told by Lee to get Kevlar and a helmet that suddenly and magically appears. Uses it one time, then shooting pictures in live combat without it, only for the Kevlar to reappear in later engagements.
Most of the group makes it to DC, and seemingly get in the way of Western Front soldiers trying to take the Whitehouse and the president. Several times the soldiers had to push Jessie to safety because she becomes a battle hardened war photographer and exposes herself in order to get that great snapshot. This of course causes the death of Lee who pushed her out of the way and absorbing several rounds. Don't worry, Jessie is hard-core and got the pictures. She and Joel.bear witness to President Ron Swanson being executed. Somehow, without context, we're made to feel he was evil. Curious why he was in the Oval Office and not secured in the emergency bunker.
The movie pretty much ends.
No answer to they why. What happens now. Who is in charge? Does fighting now stop?
Please don't make a part 2.
Fear the Walking Dead: Remember What They Took from You (2023)
Did they give up?
It's like the showrunner and writers decided to go out on a low note and have horrible dialog and acting. It's great they can still have fuel for the pretty new boats in the episode. An 8 year old as a bad ass Zombie killer in an instant. A standoff with a two-way mirror. Madison locked away in a cell for multiple years yet no ill effect on her ability to run through a swamp, killing the dead. The sunlight that she hadn't been exposed to in over 8 years didn't even bother her eyes. The Walkers couldn't move in the swamp until it was time to chase people, then they moved pretty fast. I could go on, but you get the gist.
Fear the Walking Dead: Divine Providence (2022)
Utter nonsense
This season has been terrible. This episode confirms my decision to stop watching.
Wes can convince the group to turn on Strand by saying he lost the baby? Alicia the only known person to live months post bite. Like some sort of Mary Sue. The raft nonsense and Sherry and her always being cryptic.
Fear the Walking Dead: Ofelia (2022)
40 minutes I'll never get back
Let's be honest, the last few seasons have sucked. This episode is on a level far worse. It was the deciding factor that made me quit the show. Terrible writing. Boring. Made no logical sense. Great actors forced into terrible dialog and storyline.
NCIS: Hawai'i (2021)
Hugely disappointed
So much so wrong.
First, hire a technical expert from the US Navy. At the beginning the Navy Captain only has one row of ribbons, which is highly unlikely for a Captain with a minimum of 17 years of service in. At the end of the episode he had two rows of medals. Incongruous! Plus the guy was too young to be an 0-6.
The acting was stiff. You had the expected computer geek. The girl agent out to prove herself. Two guys who will be competing with each other. One of course will play on the edge of the rules because of some underlying issues like FES from NCIS. At least try to come up with something original.
United We Fall (2020)
Could have been good, but failed miserably
As a fan of Will Sasso I really wanted to like this show but it has several problems. First the hugely annoying laugh track. Every comment they make has the laugh track going. It's way too much and distracting. If you can't write funny material the laugh track isn't going to save it.
Second, the ridiculous yelling and the need to have a prolapsed rectum as a gag? Just terrible.
Finally, there isn't much chemistry between the husband and wife.
It's a shame because Will Sasso is a pretty funny actor; the writers failed him. I don't see this show lasting long.
