Confusing and hard to follow
30 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As much as I love the franchise, Yellowstone is exhilarating to say the least but doesn't seem so much as historically prominent, 1883 was awesome and felt more thoroughly researched , but this new prequel 1923, is difficult to follow for me, its all over the place, bouncing from area to area and people to people, cant keep up with who is who and what they're doing and how they fit into the family. The cast is great of course, but parts of the story are very disturbing and hard to watch, especially the mistreatment of the Indian girls by Nuns no less smh. Its hard to realize how bad they were treated in that day and time in the USA smh. Hopefully things will start to come clearer for me soon as the story progresses lol. I'm guessing there was a lot of in-depth research done to make sure the info is true and on point, so as not to be misleading to those of us who weren't there, but I would've had a difficult time going through that research finding all this info on the mistreatment of the people during that time smh. I surely hope the remainder of the series gets easier to watch.

Great storyline, but acting was lacking, chemistry was non existing, accents fake, not my cup of tea
29 December 2020
While I loved the actual storyline, it was tender, sweet and inspiring; the scenery was amazing to view; the music was beautiful and endearing; but the rest of this movie left me disappointed, try as I could I just couldn't get into it enough to enjoy it to the fullest, and I like all the actors, rom-coms and the concept of this movie. The acting was just lacking in any emotion or chemistry between the actors; the accents were so fake it was painful to listen to, why not hire actors who speak the language and don't have to try and fake it; the only one that was realistic was Jon Hamm, but why shouldn't it have been, he was playing an American with an English accent. The main character's (Rosemary) look was horrible, mainly her hair, very fake looking, made it hard to look at her because I kept wanting to fix her hair or wig by making it actually fit her head correctly, and yes I realize she isn't a beauty queen contestant, she lives in the wilds of Ireland on a farm, but she still should've looked like her hair fit her head and was combed now and again, while the actress (Emily Blunt) is a beautiful lady the writers/directors surely didn't use her looks to help her character's look. I've read other reviews that think this is the bee's knees and maybe to them it was, but it left me empty and I had been so excited by the commercials advertising it, I truly was excited to finally watch it only to experience a letdown.

Cuties (2020)

Sad, truthful view of today's teens
18 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I wanted to see what all the hoopla was about so I watch the whole movie, it was mostly sad & heartbreaking to me because you see a preteen girl adjusting to adolescence under extraordinary circumstances, new home, trying to make friends, family dynamics changing unwillingly & all the while trying to still be a good daughter/sister. It was hard to watch some of the actions she took but sadly its what the majority of girls her age go through every day, it's called hormones! But it's also what they see every day, on TV, music videos, video games, movies, celebrities, older siblings, parents, other family members, friends, at school, on the streets, in everyday life sadly & especially the media.

Its not childporn, but it is too risque for the age of the actors, in my opinion. But unless you live in a dark colored bubble this type of thing happens all around us all day long sadly.

If you read the info about the movie in depth as I did before watching it you'd see the author was speaking from what she went through & is trying to bring awareness to parents about what their kids are most likely experiencing so that maybe the parents will be more attentive to their kids, especially in this day & age of every one having access to the internet & then having a TV, computer/video games babysit their kids, which is in almost 80% of the households nowadays.

The dubbing was horrible truthfully, even worse with the outdated terms & lingo they were using for the English language dubbing. The videography was normal looking to me but looked like it was done from the '90s. The culture differences were very apparent in their geography/language compared to what I'm use to in the USA, & yes somewhat shocking as to what the "Auntie" did with the "Shaman" but it may be normal in their culture.

A lot of people are jumping on a bandwagon they don't or won't try to understand about the true meaning behind the movie before deciding to destroy it & that's not right.

Western? Uh, kinda?! Acting? Not even close!
9 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I LOVE westerns, cowboys, horses AND good acting. This is close to a western-ish movie, has beautiful horses, wanna be cowboys but NO ACTING! I was drawn to this because of Trace Adkins but his 15 mins of airtime wasn't worth it sadly. While there might be some pretty scenery here and there, the poor storyline and even poorer acting can't pull this one up out of the puddle of misery. Trying to throw in an awkward love connection of two opposites didn't help either. Bruce Dern has always played the one you love to hate and even at his age he played his part well, I just personally never cared for him after his character killed "The Duke" in "The Cowboys", that was a REAL western with REAL acting. The wornout cliches and slowly spoken, proper English just make the time drag on forever. The costumes were pretty accurate other than that out of place sparkling white gown Dern wore throughout, it really stood out. The guns were nice to look at and made their statement known when used.. And forgive me if I'm wrong, but the music that I heard periodically play while not being westerny that's true, it kept sounding like the theme of "Saturday Night Fever" in a very slow speed lol! The song stuck in my brain all night afterwards. Wanted to like it but it just couldn't hold my attention enough to stomach it. Don't waste your time if you actually like good acting and need a follow-able story.

Dirty John: Perception Is Reality (2020)
Season 2, Episode 8

Could've told it in a lot less time and with better acting...
16 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I have to say that after watching the whole season 2 (I watched season 1 when it came out) this one had horrible acting considering who the actual actors are or maybe it was the writing, really could be a combo of both, just not sure. I was interested in the story and thought it would pick up the further it went along, but nope! I understood what the story was trying to tell or rather the point it was trying to get across about the mental and psychological abuse she underwent over the years and how it made her how she ended up, and how she felt about her marriage being undermined and her purpose as his wife destroyed by this man she vowed to love etc, all the while he was just using her for his gain, truly from the beginning of their time together, but she was too blind in love to be able to actually see it sadly...but the acting was just as if it was kids in drama club putting it on. I got the message of what was behind the story because I've been in her shoes, except I didn't kill anyone, not saying I didn't want to, I just wanted to be there for my kids more. The positive note is at least the set designers got the clothes, hair and cars right with the era lol, '70s, '80s gotta love the clothes lol. The best part in this whole season for me was the last 8 minutes or so, not because it was the ending, but what actually happened in that time, it was very heart wrenching, she was very vulnerable and it made me cry because I felt her pain. If they do a season 3, I hope its with a different writer and hopefully better acting, at least season 1 had somewhat of a more exciting storyline and the acting was better than this one but not by much.
