S.W.A.T. (2017)
What happened?
What on earth happened to this show? The last couple of seasons it's been going downhill, & I hoped with this season being the last they would ramp it up & go back to the basics which worked so well early on.
But I guess not. The first 2 spisodes of season 7 were dreadful.
The writing is just bad, bad & more bad.
Very disappointing that Luca & Street are not regular cast members any more. They've been there from the start and were great characters.
I wasn't a fan of the Powell character last season - why couldn't they have given her "occasional" status instead of Street & Luca? Do they think they must have a female on the team? If so, they should write her as a more interesting character, or at least find a better actress.
I will watch to the bitter end as I want to see how it all wraps up. I just hope the remaining episodes aren't so painful to sit through.
The Rookie: The List (2023)
Could have rated higher but...
This has overall been a better season of The Rookie. The bank robbery storyline was ok & seemed promising, although I agree with other reviewers that the commentary on gun owners was a bit much. I enjoyed the little personal tidbits they like to toss at us every week.
What ruined it for me was the arrival of Simone. Thankfully we didn't have to deal with too much of her but I hope they don't make these crossover episodes a regular thing. Her character is too exaggerated & unbelievable, not to mention irritating.
I have no desire to watch the conclusion of this one so I hope I'm not missing anything important.
The Rookie: Day in the Hole (2022)
Disappointing
Finally made it to the end of season 4 and this episode was disappointing.
The Nolan showdown in the middle of nowhere - seriously? They could have done much more with this, instead it was a bit absurd.
And I'm so over Bailey. I didn't mind her occasional appearance at first but now it's too much. I realize she's some kind of Superwoman who can do everything, but her fight scene was just ridiculous & completely unbelievable. Enough with the writers contriving ways to insert her into every episode. We are seeing more of her than the regulars. Chen, Lopez & Harper are becoming afterthoughts while we watch the Bailey show.
I did enjoy the Chen-Bradford storyline & hope they continue with this new aspect in their relationship. It had a lot of the humour I love about the show.
Nurses (2020)
An embarrassment
This is a Canadian show and as a nurse from Canada I'm embarrassed.
I can't even begin to describe everything wrong with it. Ridiculous premise, ridiculous errors, ridiculous characters.
The first episode alone was laughable. Carrying fingers around in a cooler. Committing an ethical breach that should cost any nurse their license. Walking around in blood-stained scrubs. And so on. I really tried to watch it but gave up after 3 episodes.
I realize tv shows sometimes require a suspension of disbelief, but I can't suspend anything that much.
In these times where nurses are on the front lines fighting this pandemic, this sort of tripe is insulting. It deserves zero stars.
Don't waste your time.
