Not the average animated film
16 March 2006
I remember watching this in school when i was a kid, later i had a tremendous struggle trying to find it again, finally got it in my hands & have watched it like 10 times since! Animation made by computer opens new grounds for sure, but most of it (if not all until today) has no soul at all, no replaying value either. Check this & don't mind the language, is so well gestured by the characters you'll understand most of & it has an excellent score as well. I can see cubist & futurist artistic movements influenced this movie too. Nothing comes close, even the best anime movie from japan!

Only movie i ever will put a 10 on, i guess!

Top snes game, a must play!
24 August 2004
This game although the title may suggest other thing was a nice comedy action adventure trip for the snes.

Mystical ninja was a great combination of action/rpg, the battles were even fiercer than Zelda, both in 2d & upview perspective. Bosses were amazingly original. (i remember ninja gaiden was nice, but worse bosses, specially the first 2). Gotta walk through different stages tho each one contains elements of its own, you even get the try to enter a kids amusement park & play some mini-games. (some konami classics as well!)

The tale didn't wanted to be transcendental as most rpg's, was more like comedy, simple but entertaining for its naiveness.

The music is a killer aspect of this game, a fusion of techno soft beats with Japanese new school melodies, very epic, deep & funny as well.

The graphics are amazing for a snes game, great colors, nice cut scenes, many interesting character drawings as well, lots of japan culture in this game for sure.

I know this game has many sequels but never played them, expect to get them tho!

100% Recommended for people who find new games extremely boring.

Illusion of Gaia (1993 Video Game)
A sweet oldschool rpg which fans of the genre don't want to miss!!
7 August 2004
Amazing game, rpg action adventure style. Puzzle solving & real time battles along with a nice story line & excellent music. I played this one long ago & in those days was my favorite rpg, until ff6 came out. Recommended for fans of Zelda, Secret of mana, Chronotrigger & final fantasy. You really get into the dungeons they get more dificult every time, specially in that "mushroom stage" where i remember got lost a couple of hours :O) Was years since i played it & glad i can still remember most of it.

What i loved more was the ending, very special & original one of the bests endings ever. (along lufia1 for snes)

Illusion of time is also known as Illusion of Gaia from Enix.

Super Mario Bros. 2 (1988 Video Game)
Is different cause.... (see the ending!)
1 August 2004
That's because is so different, (also cause it was another video game in japan who got modified i've heard, but the landscapes are a lot like mario & the main theme is very italian!)

I think that all marios are amazing, every one was an experience in its time. This has enough Mario elements, it was the real second. (lost levels was just a re-edited Mario 1), also the way u take on the enemies is very fun, nice bosses & killer last boss, very colorfull, naive & funny, i just looooove this game, & it resembles to me a little to MARIO64 in some ways.

The ending of this game justifies every diference u may find with other marios, is unique & it deserves a direct sequel as well!

Ninja Gaiden (1988 Video Game)
A truly nes experience, a classic, one of the bests
31 July 2004
With new gaming focused more on graphics than anything else is refreshing & rewarding to put again my hands on such a great & precise piece of entertainment, as a kid was even better than cartoons & extremely addictive. (Ok, i admit it videogames are not good for children or sane people, when you get so deep into them you end up alienated from other people, but who cares, at the end life's to enjoy isn't it?) This game along other classics i will recommend at the end of this posts are even soft in violent content as new videogames like 3d shooters. There's even a new version of Ninja Gaiden i regret (xbox, playstation 2) it will never be like the old one, NEVER EVER! I dare to say that the original ninja gaiden has even better music! KILLER soundtrack!!!!

Cool oldie Nintendo games:

Castlevania (the trilogy for nes) Contra & Super C Megaman (All the 6!!!! & #2 was a favorite) Metal Gear & Snake's revenge. (play also the playstation one, is one of the best translations from old to new videogaming ever)

Final Fantasy IX (2000 Video Game)
The last"true" final fantasy on cd system
18 July 2004
This one takes us back to what we loved from the earlier final fantasy games, before cyberpunk influence & darkness came along. Small cute characters with more facial expression (tho i never liked polygon graphics really) & a more colorful world makes this one closer to the original idea. (i always think that the creators also took in mind the "never ending story" at least in musical aspects (like ff4 which sounds a lot like it)

& i celebrate i was able to play a final fantasy with better graphics than the old ones. Very nice CG cinematic sequences too. Nice colors everywhere, not the best final fantasy, but very amazing to play. A must if someone asked me!

The battle system improved over FF7 a lot. Now you can choose more characters & overall faster loading.

Overall this game is a nice way to go back when ff was more underground & there wasn't posts to put opinions about games, just time to enter a nice imaginary world & have fun until u ended it (& having nothing to do with your life after since the game took so much of your free time!)

Final Fantasy VI (1994 Video Game)
The best Role Playing Game ever made...
18 July 2004
Do u remember playing many games where each character has his/her own musical theme?

This game is a musical tour! There are get many versions of its soundtrack on cd as well.

One has really to love music to get into this game as i did & cleverly choose it as the best ff ever. (also ff4 & 9 are amazing) Only bad point about the music is that it has the very same music for all the field battles & that's annoying considering that over 40% of the game consists on them.

This game is literally true to the "role playing" The characters are one of the strongest points in this game, here you get real human beings, not the typical anime hero (cloud in ff7 for example or chrono in chronotrigger, or the dozens of pilots of those hitech robots like mazinger). One falls in love with all the characters, each one taking important roles in specific parts of the game.

Kefka (the main bad guy) having a little lack of background i agree, but he doesn't need it as well. His own musical theme does it for the lack of words. Also the last Essene with him & his final speech does it fine. The only stereotyped character is the ninja (i mean so many ninjas in video games already!). As well is an amazing character with many secrets that you have to uncover to find his interesting spot in the game. If i go deep into each character this post would take pages so it's up to you to find out about the rest :)

The battle system is neat (tho the best battle system is ff4 since each character was very specific in its use & u could choose 5 at a time!)

Has the best music & the best ending i've ever seen in a video game so far. Strongly recommended. a Truly romantic epic adventure. If you want to get into the world of final fantasy come & play this marvelous piece of art, storytelling & music instead of watching the boring movie :O)
