Killer Stuff

Warning: Spoilers
in this Food Network series, the host Ree plays "the new Paula Dean", in that her recipes are chalk full of good old processed ingredients. in the segment i watched today, she incorporated fresh sweet strawberries in her dish. not satisfied that the strawberries natural sweetness is enough, she dumps a cup of processed white sugar over them, so that the sugar can further bring out the sweetness in the fruit. i suppose that's fine, but my stars, that's a lot of sugar! it's a wonder to behold. Ree is a sweet person, and i'm sure she is a marvelous cook, who feeds her ranch hands and family well. this is one of the better "down home" entries on the Food Network Channel. it seems to be doing well, and i hope it thrives for as long as Miss Drummond wishes to keep going.

Selfie (2014)

while this show is basically unwatchable, it's kind of fun to watch. it's one of those shows that is so bad it's good. the thing is, lead actress (actor, excuse me), Karen Gillian is quite charming. her rapid fire delivery is contagious. so, to be honest, i watch for her..it's like 2 Broke Girls, another very mediocre program, which is saved by the 2 girls. the jokes are stale, but the infectious charm of the lead characters is undeniable. (actually, it is deniable, but..) can't see "Selfie" lasting to long though, since the premise is so limited,as well as tired, but maybe 13 episodes will be enough, before everyone involved is bored, and moves on to new projects.

Warning: Spoilers
i think this is safe to say, there will never be anything like "Seinfeld" again. funny, doesn't even begin to describe the enormity of this show. Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David should be added to Mt. Rushmore. so many situations, were, at the same time very commonplace, but presented in such an off the wall manner. characters would be discussing one thing, when a 3rd would interject something completely off subject. scenes were short, lightning fast bursts of hilarity. there were no long, obvious set ups to the jokes, waiting for the punch line. there were no punch lines, per se...no jokes in the traditional sense. every character was a distinct individual, who, in every episode had their own story (situation) going on. the show has been off the air 15 years, and is as funny now as it was then. i've seen every episode 10-15 times, and every time i still die laughing...actually, the show gets better with each viewing. with the rapid fire wit, one can miss stuff the first time around. Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld should be added to Mt. Rushmore. the show displays comedic genius that hasn't been matched since

Columbo This Ain't
18 September 2014
I read somewhere, maybe here, that this show was supposed to be reminiscent of the old Peter Falk series, Columbo. i'm here to tell ya, it's not. it's an insult to the fabulous, creative Lt. Columbo, and his ingenious method of investigation. Ms Diamonds' children are nothing more than tired stereotypes of the unruly child. her husband, or soon to be ex, or whatever, is an idiot. it's pitiful. I gave this disappointment a 5, I guess 'cause I can't believe "Laura" is really this bad, with the hope, after the opening show, and introduction of the characters, they might actually get into a clever bad guy, and an equally clever pursuit by Laura Diamond
