Touch of Evil (1958)
9/10
A very dramatic and hot criminal investigation movie in black and white ...
6 February 2005
A corrupt but skillful old disappointed policeman at the Mexican-US-border tries to solve an murder- and explosion case. But the circumstances comes to close and he becomes both a criminal and a victim himself. The scene is the border between USA and Mexico. The tension is high between people on both sides - they call each other, not so friendly, "gringos" and "amigos" ...    The film has a wonderful footage and the tense between the characters - which is very good performed by a range of famous actors - of whom you don't know is good and bad until the very last minutes. Everyone seems to have something to hide.    The decor and the feeling is very nicely cut. If you haven't seen it, see it. 90 minutes of tense! /J

There is nothing to sum up, 'cause there's no plot. Just fun!

This is not a film as you know the word. Instead it's a mix of clips from Swedish WW II funny propaganda films from the 1930's and -40's, put together in 1951. It's all about heroes saving Swedish military secrets from spy's, more or less stupid - and funny! - soldiers in the army against their will and the hunt for the sweetest girl, daughter to the army captain. And of course: up tempo music to strengthen the will to be in the army and defend the country. But if you don't like the "blond beer films" (pilsner-filmer) you won't like this one. ––JohanK
