Furia (2021)
What the...? Spoiler -->
Eight episodes worth of a kind of slow but very good build-up.
The series makes you wait for the big terrorist attack to happen. It will be the big climax after the long build-up.
However, the police stopped the attack in the last minute and the series ended. WHAT THE ACTUAL...? Massive anti-climax
+10 stars for the first seven episodes, the great acting, good story and good plot twists
-5 stars thanks to the biggest anti-climax in modern times.
Awake (2021)
Stupid
For a soldier trying to protect her daughter, she's doing pretty bad. She has a pistol with one magazine. But decides to waste three bullets to make a statement to her daughter, who refuses to learn how to shoot it.
There's riots outside the library. Prisoners have escaped and are on the run. The daughter says she's running to the car. Working cars are extremely rare and everyone's looking for one. But the mother doesn't worry about the daughter at all. So the car gets stolen and everybody is almost killed because she wasted her ammunition.
The rest of the movie is just too fast-paced. And not a lot makes sense.
I enjoyed the beginning but it didn't take long to realize it's a B-movie.
Army of the Dead (2021)
Dave Bautista deserves better movie scripts
Everybody dies because Kate tries to save some person who isn't part of the movie.
Kate doesn't get the money in the end either. She gets a "small amount" to get the kids out of the camp. THE CAMP THAT WAS JUST NUKED?! Did I misunderstand this or what?
Kate survives a nuclear blast and seems fine after the chopper went down. And a US Air Force chopper comes to the rescue - wayyy too close to the nuclear blast. I'm pretty sure they would've died.
Anyway. The movie focuses on Scott who tries to get this money for his daughter, but that doesn't go well. The money ends up with Van who spends it on a private plane ticket (why?) but he dies... Not from literally walking through the radiation zone hours after a nuclear blast, but from being bit by a zombie.
Who wrote this? And who decided to fund the script? I have never given a movie a rating this low, because I feel bad if I do. People have put in so much work into this project so I don't want to slam it. But come on. This is not a zombie movie. It's a fantasy movie.
On the other hand - I have some positive feedback too:
1. Dave Bautista. I really like this actor and I loved him in Bushwick. Great and underrated movie. I think Dave is a very underrated actor who deserves much better scripts than Army of the Dead.
2. CGI etc. This movie looks great. The zombies are pathetic (a king and a queen with super powers... lame) but special effects and stuff look great.
3. The splatter stuff. I loved that. It was very well made and when the head of the "queen" falls to the ground in the end, I laughed because it looked great. SPLAT!
