Target of Opportunity (2005)
2005?
In my own opinion viewing the trailer aesthetically it seems more an mid or late 1990's film.
Dispatches: Rape in the City (2009)
Both shocking and disturbing
I saw first being advertised on Channel4 previous before the first air date it looked interesting. The first broadcast I only watch the last 25 minutes, but the last 25 minutes upset me a little. The broadcaster was focusing on a growing trend of gang rape of young girls mainly in their mid teens by boys who are in the same age group but some of he victims were not sexually assaulted by anonymous strangers one in particular who she thought was a childhood friend. She was invited to house to play, what she thought it would just the two of them , some video games everything was fine until a little later a group of teen boys arrived at his aforementioned house where they led to his bedroom and immediately entrapped her, forcibly raped her one by one. The segment what upset me more where the broadcaster interviewed a group of teen boys, there was an excuse or condoning this kind of sexual act with little expression of sympathy to any victims, if a girl go boys house what else does she go there for in short she is asking for it. When the boys were confronted by a group of girls on their opinion and what were saying was morally indefensible they changed their tone to some degree. It seems what I watched the victims, perpetrators and interviewees were mostly of African-Caribbean and Sub-Saharan Afrcian descent, what was the documentary trying to portray this crime is mainly a phenomenon of the London African-Caribbean and Sub-Saharan African community.
Called for Duty (2000)
The murderer of Steve Cadro
Budapest, Hungary 23/3/2000: A model who was owed money by a gay director is said to have confessed to the stabbing death of director Steve Cadro, who was found murdered March 23 in Budapest, Hungary. Cadro, 52, who's real name is Korda Istvan, worked with many of the overseas adult companies and distributed titles through All Worlds, Bel Ami, Sarava Productions and Jet Set. He is best known for his recent video The HUNGarians nominated at the GayVN 2000 awards for Best Foreign Release and distributed by Kristen Bjorn's Sarava Productions.
Cadro was found stabbed more than 50 times around the head and back in his apartment in his native Budapest only a day before he was headed to Cuba to shoot an adult video. Hungarian police arrested a young man, identified as a former model named Sanyi and has charged him with the crime. According to sources close to the director, the former model was also a former lover of Cadro's. The model is married and has a small child and lives near Budapest. Cadro is said to have had many past problems with models, including non-payment of many videos he made for Cadro.
A cleaning lady working across the street from Cadro's apartment saw the youth visiting the director and heard a fight, but saw no assault. She later identified the model to police and the youth had a large amount of cash in U.S. dollars on him. Friends concerned with Cadro's absence later that day found a trail of bloody footprints leading out of the building and down the many flights of stairs from the top floor apartment. The largest amount of blood was found on the floor near the telephone revealing that Cadro may have tried to call for help after the stabbing, but wasn't able to and bled to death.
Many sources contacted who knew Cadro said they were not surprised about the murder, and that Cadro often had volatile relationships with his models. In the past he would joke with other directors that he was "the devil" and dressed the part at a recent Halloween party. He was known in some circles as the "Beast of Budapest" or "The Birddog of Budapest." No politicians, no models and few people from the adult industry showed up at his funeral in mid-April. It was a brief, non-religious service and a lone vocalist sang a song before the service. One elderly relative gave a brief eulogy, then four gravediggers carried the casket to an electric hearse, drove it 100 meters to the gravesite and lowered it by hand and shoveled dirt on top. He was buried in a simple wooden casket with "Korda Istvan, age 52" painted on the sides in gold leaf.
The X Files: Anasazi (1995)
The X Files/Anasazi - 19/5/1995
Albert tells Mulder about the Anasazi, a tribe who vanished without a trace hundreds of years ago. Albert says the truth is "nothing disappears without a trace," and that the tribe was abducted "by visitors who come here still." Albert's grandson takes Mulder out to the canyon and reveals what he found - a train refrigeration car buried in the earth. Mulder gets a call from the CSM, who warns him that if he exposes the MJ files he will also expose his father's involvement in the project. The call is traced, and CSM and a group of soldiers take off in helicopters. Mulder goes into the car and finds mounds of bodies like the one from the teaser. Scully calls him to say that both her name and Duane Barry's appear in the files involving a test. Mulder thinks the bodies in the car are alien...until he sees one has a smallpox vaccination scar. "Oh my God, Scully...what have they done?" he asks before the door to the car closes from above. The Cigarette Smoking Man has arrived and asks Albert's grandson where Mulder is. The soldiers search the boxcar and say that Mulder is gone, vanished without a trace. CSM angrily insists that "nothing vanishes without a trace!" and orders the soldiers to burn the boxcar. They drop an incendiary bomb into the car and depart in helicopters as it explodes, flames leaping out of the car, burning the bodies and possibly Mulder inside...
One of the best television seasons finale ever produced. When I first watched this I was literally on the edge of my couch. Wondering is Fox Mulder dead or alive? that made so highly anticipated for Season 3 premiere. I could not wait.
Beverly Hills, 90210: You Gotta Have Heart (1995)
Beverly Hills 90210/You Gotta Have Heart - 8/2/1995
Finley pushes Kelly to end her relationship with Brandon, but she cannot go through with it. She later dumps him during a confrontation at Finley's new headquarters, and Brandon reluctantly turns to Dylan for help. Valerie uses her new windfall to move out of the Walsh house and into a luxurious hotel. She ignores Dylan's warnings about the loneliness associated with life at a hotel. Donna goes to bed with Ray but then cuts things off, leaving him very frustrated. Val pops the lighter in Ray's truck, draining the battery so that he has to seek a ride. She lures him back to her hotel room. Andrea becomes uncomfortable when she and Jesse run into Peter and his wife at the movies. Everyone pitches in as the After Dark hosts a telethon for pediatric heart patients. Steve struggles to fulfill his promise to get the female vocal group Jade for the event.
This was bit of a strange episode the fact is Steve Sanders was originally trying to get a local group for the charity event but they could not make so Steve with his numerous contacts manage to get hold of Jade who had a huge success with their song Every Day Of The Week early 1995 - one of my favourite songs as well - performed at the event instead. I know the story was a litte unbelievable but it is only television, plus I wish Jade did sang live instead of pre-recording.
The Outer Limits: Afterlife (1996)
The Outer Limits/Afterlife - 19/5/1996
Linden Stiles struggles to retain his humanity after he is convicted of a murder he didn't commit. When asked to make a frightful choice: accept execution or become the subject of a secret military experiment -- he chooses to live. As the experiment progresses, Stiles fights the dehumanizing influence of injected DNA from an alien lifeform. The attending doctor is troubled by a growing awareness of the inhumanity of the experiment itself, of the men in charge and of her own role. Using his preter-natural strength, Stiles escapes. Then, hunted by his former compatriots, he faces a decision even more difficult than the one that set him on such a tragic course.
This was one of my favourites episodes of the new version The Outer Limits. I have to admit I was not consistent with my viewership with the series so there was many episodes I it did not have a chance to see. The message of this episode is the moral ambiguity of our governments will do to create the ultimate weapon of war whatever the consequences.
The Outer Limits: Sandkings (1995)
The Outer Limits/Sandkings - 26/3/1995
When his research project is closed down, Simon Kress rescues a few of its living subjects and transplants them to a recreation of their native Martian environment in his barn. They grow and learn, but then Kress makes an error with disastrous implications.
BBC2 debuted this episode of the new The Outer Limits I think on Sunday the 1st of May 1995. I was familiar with original series from the 1960's, but the new version of this particular episode really impressed me with a hidden or subversive message with the warning to scientists trying to play or replace the power of god through scientific advancement.
Doctor Who (2005)
I did not like it first time around, second time no different
I could not get into it the first time around that includes the reruns from the beginning the first runs I watched were from the early to mid 1980's I have to admit there was quite a few good episodes from what I remember the rest were very mediocre, over or under acting, inane dialogue, special effects non existent it was meant to be a science fiction series, scripts patronising sometimes going beyond believability perhaps most important as an young child during that time I could not relate to the main character the Doctor Who regardless what actor was playing the character. So when I heard the BBC re-commissioned the series for 2005 I thought I might as well catch the new version if it would convert me into a new fan and was I wrong. The script, dialogue, special effects and the acting, apart from Christopher Eccleston anyway I always find his acting a bit over the top, were just as terrible as the original versions. This has to be one of the worst series on the BBC alongside with Eastenders and Casualty.
EastEnders (1985)
It's grim down South.
I'm one of the growing large minority on this board or in the UK who is being held to ransom by this poor excuse of an drama it is bad enough that it broadcasts 4 times a week but my license fee is funding this series I always wonder why this and programmes of an similar genre such as Coronation Street, Emmerdale always top the barb ratings does it say a lot about the lack of sophistication or intelligence of the British viewing public. They say this is suppose to represent real urban working class life well they don't represent anything I know especially in East London where I live right in the heart - Custom House/Newham - no one seems to venture outside their immediate street or address, the employment that is available seems to be the local chip shop, the market stalls or the pub, do anyone work further afield. Almost everyone lives in attraction accommodation even though many are on low income jobs or on state benefits, yes very realistic!.
