Bhoot Police (2021)
10/10
Tightly made, fun ride
11 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Reminds one of Go Goa Gone. Saif at his humorous best. A Kapoor did ok job in the sincere, upright brother's role (one wonders how he keeps landing such juicy roles). Jacqueline F looks plasticky but cast well. Yami is perfectly cast and does competent job. Very good CGI. Excellent art direction (brilliant sets/locations).

Right dose of all spices humour , horror and emotion (at end) with haunting back story shown in a short flash back .

There are so many ways this movie could have gone wrong but somehow comes together, thanks to a tight script peppered with brilliant one liner jokes eg Abhi Vibhuti Kichkandi hai, Kis charge mein andar karoge- animal husbandry ? :):)

Hostel Daze (2019–2023)
6/10
Difficult to believe S2 and S1 are by same team
29 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
While S1 was 10, S2 is 2-3 range.. hence the average rating of 6. S1 captured hostel life accurately supported by strong character building and story line. Appears that they tan out of maternal when it was time for S2. Stringing together unrelated weak incidents as episodes. Finale was super boring with nothing really happening. Writers stretched a 2 minute idea into a whole episode, mostly comprising Jhatoo pacing Up and down in an empty hostel and sh***ging in the hostel theatre. In S1 abuses /curses seemed to fit in naturally , but in S2 they were used as content to fill the huge whole left by writers. What a shame for despite a brilliant start !

Thinkistan (2019)
Excellent storyline & dialogues, but
10 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The story is powerful as it flows from first hand experience of writer/director Paddy who is an ad industry veteran. Very gripping and real totally binge watchable .

But a few niggles are 1) too much screen time to Hema rather than Amit (possibly because Hema character appears a bit autobiographical... just a guess ) 2) Sets and production design not period appropriate (partly due to budget constraints and sometimes just oversight... eg there were hardly any ATMs in 1996, lights on marine drive were different, clothes designs were more baggy, Amit's Bhopal accent not very accurate etc etc) But this is nit picking . The core story is very strong, detailed characterisation and real understanding of ad industry which keeps viewers hooked . So overall still 10/10.

Code M (2020– )
2/10
Average ... hardly a mystery thriller
17 January 2020
Rating seems to be bumped up by fake reviews. Similar to typical tv serial ... jazzy camera work and editing but story doesn't grip and acting looks forced . Not out of box and well executed like a few other Zee 5 series like Abhay
