Fast Charlie (2023)
Don't listen to these high scoring user reviews!
Recently, I found myself wanting to watch a film with Pierce Brosnan as the protagonist, so I bit the bullet and gave Fast Charlie a go due to the praise of some of those user reviews.
Please don't be fooled like I did. I felt it was my responsibility to advise others to not waste their time like I did.
Fast Charlie is an absolute snooze fest with forgettable performances, uninspired cinematography, jarring pacing and a forced romantic angle.
Pierce Brosnan attempts a southern accent and while it's the best performance in this film, it doesn't come close to saving this train wreck.
The best way to describe this movie is to imagine John Wick without the awesome action scenes, interesting world building, heart-pounding music and a lack of emotional investment.
Fast Charlie has nothing to offer that warrants a viewing. Could you do worse? Of course. Which might be the most frustrating thing about this film, it's just so incredibly mediocre.
It wasn't all for nothing, however. After the credits rolled, I referred back to these high-scoring reviews and noticed a similarity between the majority of their accounts. Every account had one and one review only tied to their account, that being Fast Charlie..
Eastbound & Down: Chapter 23 (2013)
One of the best In the series
Kenny faces adversity once again with fellow rival cohost Montel Williams.
After being publicly embarrassed during the new show Kenny is on. He embarks on a quest to redeem himself and to earn himself another chance on sports sesh.
This episode has everything you've come to love when dealing with Kenny powers. Hilarious monologues, epic montages, ridiculous insults.
The final moments of this episode is the highest point Kenny hits until he inevitably self sabotages his own success.
Terrific episode!
Don't F**k with Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer (2019)
interesting plot, inconsistent at times
This story could have been told in half the time and it would have benefited. The internet crew are downright annoying to watch. The detail to the case is inconsistent. There's a moment when the internet Group suspect a fellow member is the cat killer. He as you can imagine gets a whole string of Hate and death threats thrown his way, resulting in him taking his own life. These people were indirectly somewhat responsible for that and they talk about it for a mere minute... Yet they waste as much of your time as they can, with long lingering shots of scenery. Interviewees sitting down and not saying anything...
The Purge: This Is Not a Test (2019)
Significantly better than the first season
I wasn't going into this with much expectations, just coming off season 1 which in my opinion was watchable at best.
The introduction scene already has more going for it. We get a bunch of completely new characters all in different scenarios much like it's predecessor but it's more effective this time with more variety. There's even an "OH MY GOD" moment if you're a fan of the Purge films.
I won't say much more to avoid spoilers but if you're a fan of horror I would advise you to skip season 1 and jump straight into this.
Fingers crossed it keeps this momentum!
