Hold On! (1966)
5/10
Poor Script Makes Dull Film
17 June 2011
I always liked the songs performed by Herman's Hermits. Simple songs with a catchy melody that seems to stay with you for a long time. With that in mind, I couldn't wait to see the band in the film, "Hold On." Shelley Fabares was hot looking but the band including Herman (Peter No one) seemed lame in comparison. The story was unbelievable, and the scenes seemed over staged. In comparison, in the Beatle's film, "A Hard Days Night" the crowd scenes seemed real, VERY real. "Hold On" looked like it was all shot on the back lot of a studio. It's wrong to compare the Beatles with Herman's Hermits, but if there was a better script for "Hold On" and if the viewer could actually see the personalities of the other band members, we would have had a better film. If you are a fan of Herman's Hermits, by all means don't miss this film. Like I said before, Shelley Fabares is eye candy and Herman (Peter No one) does have a few good moments with his famous facial expressions throughout the film. The music alone is worth a watch, but by no means take this movie as a serious venue. Bottom line, it's cute and a fun watch. We'll always wonder what could have been made with a good script? We'll never know.

Gunn (1967)

Gunn is worth watching
12 June 2011
This 1967 film lacks the luster of the late 50's, early 60's TV show. Replacement of key roles of Edie, Mother and Lt. Jacoby by others takes away from the viewer familiarity with the "Peter Gunn" they loved on the TV show. The story is fine, the women are gorgeous and seeing it in color is also a plus for a feature film. The camera work is good, but lacks the "feel" the black and white show gave us. Peter Gunn didn't lose his charm with age. His attraction by the women in this film is understandable. I could also understand why this film didn't do well at the box office. Peter Gunn is jazz. This film came out at the height of the British Invasion of Rock & Roll. Younger people would relate this film to their parents likes not theirs. Like fine wine, this film looks pretty good now. The jazz is good. If you get the chance watch it. It could have been a "10" but for the reasons I outlined, I'll give it a solid "7"

A true classic in the adult movie field
1 April 2007
Jeannie Pepper is a fantastic actor and a true icon to women of color. Her performance is beyond great in this feature and its a wonder that Hollywood has not sign her up for a block buster feature. This is a fairly early feature for Jeannie, yet you couldn't tell by watching it. She hits her stride in this movie and continues throughout the years. When watching Jeannie, notice her fantastic eye movements which seems very genuine and telling in the scene. I've noticed the actress Jaguar has come close to the provocative characteristics of Jeannie, but falls a little short.I don't believe I ever saw a bad movie that Jeannie was in. Rent of buy this movie, you'll be glad you did.
