I also love music. My Ipod is one of my favorite thing besides my book collection. I am a big Jill Schoelen fan among a lot of other actresses and actors. I love a lot of other type of films.

Curse II: The Bite (1989)
hits and miss of a B horror movie
I have always been a big fan of Jill Schoelen (The Stepfather). When I found out she was in this film I had to rent it. It's not the best film. But I didn't think it was the worse either.
some of the things that didn't work for me included the cheesy music that came on when ever there was an attack and some of the scenes could have been shot a little better. The film tends to drag.
Highlights in the film were the lovely Jill Schoelen as Lisa. I enjoyed seeing her sing and play the guitar. She is decent with the role of Lisa. J. Eddie Peck is easy on the eyes as Clark. There is some decent gore considering the low budget. The ending is really good. It's worth a look for the special effects or anyone who likes Jill Schoelen.
They (2002)
watch it in the dark!
Julia and Billy suffered horrible night terrors as children. It seemed that something in their dreams marked them as children and is back now to Collect them and bring them back to their world. After Billy kills himself Julia starts thinking his story might be true. This is not really a horror film but more of a thriller. I thought the film was pretty good as far as telling a story about creatures that might lurk in the dark. Laura Regan (My little eye, Dead Silence) plays Julia. She is busy preparing for her masters in psychology. One night she gets a strange phone call from her childhood friend Billy. She agrees to meet him in a diner. After rambling about the dark he pulls out a gun and kills himself in front of Julia. At the memorial Julia meets two of Billy's friends (Dagmara Dominczyk, Ethan Embry) who are suffering from night terrors too. Julia is not sleeping too well herself lately liked this film a lot more on DVD than I did in the theaters. I thought it played better on the little screen. I found a few scenes where I jumped during. There isn't any gore. I thought it was creepy just enough. I loved the scene where Julia sleep walks into the bathroom and opened the cabinet door. She finds a black substance. Just beyond the black substance is their world. They hide in the dark.
I don't think all movies have to be gory to be good. I like any movie that has to do with nightmares. I liked how this movie explored the idea of creatures coming after you because you had night terrors as a child. I kept wondering if Julia is going crazy or is she truly in danger of these creatures? This is a fun movie to watch in the dark. You will be wondering what the hell are those creatures. Marc Blucas (Buffy the vampire slayer) plays Julia boyfriend.
Wishcraft (2002)
Wishcraft is an awesome slasher flick
This is a really cool slasher movie. The main character Brett gets a bull's penis in the mail. Yes a bull's penis. attached to it is a note telling Brett he can make three wishes. He thinks it's a nasty joke and throws it into the trash. later he decides he has nothing to lose and takes the bull's penis out of the trash and makes a wish that the popular cheerleader named Samantha will asked him to the spring dance. She does and things go well. Once the dance is over Samantha goes back to her boyfriend. Brett decides to make a second wish asking for Samantha to be his girlfriend forever. This seems to be a dream come true for Brett until he gets to know Samantha and actually starts to feel guilty. There is a bigger issue at hand. There is a crazy madman slaughtering the rebels, jocks, and the cheerleaders and Samantha is next on the list.
I am surprised this movie didn't come out in the theaters. Alexandra Holden is pretty good as Samantha. She has been in a few Hollywood films like Sugar and Spice and The hot chick. She was also in the creepy straight to video Dead End. Michael Weston was in Cherry falls. He was actually pretty cute as geeky smart Brett. This film has some great jump scenes. Maybe not too much gore but it has a nice pace which is lacking in some of the recent slasher films. Sara Downing is a underrated actress. She plays one of the high school students. I hope to see more of her. so again I am scratching my head why this film went straight to video when other weaker films like Stay Alive and Cry Wolf get a theater release? Give this film a chance if you like a good slasher flick! Rated R
The Kiss (1988)
Fun Fun Fun Flick
Pucker up and get ready to die. Teenager Amy (Meredith Salenger) just lost her mom to a freak accident. Her long lost Aunt Felice shows up five months after the death to help out. At First Amy is excited to meet Felice (Joanna Pacula) because she is a fashion model and seems hip. Then things get weird when strange accidents happen. There is a great escalator scene when Amy's friend Heather gets hurt.Amy and her dad start to fight over Felice's presence. Doesn't help that Amy's dad is sleeping with Felice. Amy tries to tell her dad and her neighbor Brenda(Mimi Kuzyk)but no one believes her that Felice had anything to do with the strange accidents. They think Amy just misses her mom. But Amy knows Felice has a secret. This is a fun film! Has a lot of gory scenes and a great cast. Mimi Kuzyk is great as Brenda who tries to help Amy.Watch it late at night with popcorn! It is sort of a supernatural reverse version of the Stepfather. I liked the soundtrack. It set the mood. death scenes are great. watch out for the worst puppet cat to ever grace the movies!
The Phantom of the Opera (1989)
Gory fun!
I really enjoyed this version of the Phantom of the opera. I really love Robert Englund. He is fun to watch as he kills anyone that gets into Christine's way to fame. Jill Schoelen (The Stepfather, Popcorn, When a stanger calls back) plays the lovely Christine who hears the voice of who she thinks is her guardian angel. This version makes the musical boring. The movie has a new twist on the tale. That keeps this from being routine. Robert Englund is great as the phantom. The costumes are also nice. I own this movie on DVD and have seen it a few dozen times. If you have not gotten enough of Robert Englund being Freddy Krueger then you should rent The Phantom of the opera. It is gory fun! I give it an A+!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Popcorn (1991)
Awesome movie to rent
I give this movie an A+. The cast is a lot of fun to watch. Ivette Soler and Kelly Jo Minter are great as Jill Schoelen's friends. Jill Schoelen comes off being likable and sweet. This movie is for anyone who likes to stay up late and have some fun with their movies. There are some great lines. This movie came out way before Scream and is in my video collection. My friend works at a movie theater and we used to have run downs of the movies late at night after everyone had left. It is very creepy! This movie reminds me of those days! There are not many scream queens anymore. Jill Schoelen is very effective and fun to watch. She was also in When a stranger calls back and The Stepfather. it is too bad Ivette Soler didn't make anymore horror movies because she was great in this movie. Kelly Jo Minter was in A Nightmare on elm st part five. This little gem might be hard to find but it is worth it!
The Stepfather (1987)
Creepy movie, wish there were more of these! Spoilers
One of the best openings I have ever seen! Terry O'Quinn changes out of his bloody clothes and takes a shower. He changes into a suit and walks down stairs as nothing has happened. He just murdered his family. He puts the phone back on the hook and walks outside. He picks up a news paper and walks on his way through the perfect looking neighborhood. He gets involves with a new family. Jill Schoelen the new stepdaughter doesn't like Jerry Blake (Terry O'Quinn). You see Jerry Blake wants the perfect family and Stephinie(Jill Schoelen) thinks he is too fake and old fashion. Jerry buys Stephinie a dog and mentions how he had a dog when he was young and he was Rin tin tin to him. In another scene Jerry is watching Mr Ed on TV. He even has the perfect Thanksgiving with family that the Rockfellows could have been jealous of and builds a birdhouse. Jerry has another side to him, flipping out in the basement, throwing around his tools. Freaking out when Stephinie kisses a boy she likes. A really good scene is when Jerry decides the family with Shelly Hack is not working, he had quit his job and Shelly Hack tried calling him but they said he quit, Hack Confronts O'Quinn on this and he says wait a minute who am I here? and Hack says "Jerry" and he hits her hard with the phone and says thanks honey. here are a bunch of good one liners as well from O'Quinn. Jill Schoelen went on to make Popcorn and When a Stranger calls back.
