Bit of a 'nothing' episode
2 October 2021
Thoroughly enjoyed the 1st two episodes but this one really didn't progress the storyline at all. Far too much time spent concentrating, very slowly, on the Emperors, who aren't really that central to the overall story.

I don't have a problem with the writers departing from the books. Without a rewrite and additional material, the books would not make a very good tv epic. But, by now, they really should be getting on with the story. It's not supposed to be an action thriller, but that doesn't mean the plot has to proceed so painstakingly slow as it did in this episode.

The 'production' is excellent but there's still a number of details I find frustrating, particularly when, in an incredibly advanced technological environment, they often have characters using technology that is behind what we have now.

Let's hope they move on from the 'Empire' and start concentrating on the development of the 'Foundation'. They need to have the story come alive in the next episode, or people will start to give up on it. Not me though, I'll stick with it.

Truly awful
10 May 2021
It's hard to accurately portray just how bad this series is. The characters are one dimensional and none of them are likable. The acting is appallingly wooden and the script is dull, lacking any imagination. The Effects are barely passable; in this day and age you really expect better. The plot is rdiculous and full of gaping holes. The dialogue seems to be mostly stereotypical characters senselessly shouting and threatening others.

Just why Eleanor Tomlinson would take part, in such a shoddy and amateurish production, is beyond me - and she's not at all convincing in her role.

I suffered through the 1st two episodes - but I've seen enough to consign this to a list of prgrammes best forgotten.

How does such utter rubbish ever get made into a film
22 January 2017
This film is just plain terrible. It has no redeeming features whatsoever. The filming is poor, there's no real plot, the acting is awful, the direction is all over the place, and there's not actually any gunslingers. It's just a shambolic hotch potch of ill defined characters who seem to just appear without explanation or reason. It doesn't even have the fascination of being so bad that it is amusing. A child could have written a more convincing and entertaining story line.

I really hope this review persuades you to give this film a miss. It's beyond my comprehension how such a dreadful film ever got made.

I can't think of any film I'd rather watch less than this ghastly offering.

Really enjoyed this show

OK, as others have pointed out, there's some elements in this that stretch belief, but, come on, he's wearing a magical bracelet; surely once you've accepted that, it isn't hard to overlook some of the show's flaws.

I actually found the show got better as the series went on. By the time the final episode comes around it had me truly hooked.

Production is very good and setting it in London gives it more of an air of reality. The cast is full of good actors with Nesbit, as always, very watchable, especially as his life and career appear to be getting out of control.

There are some parts that don't make sense, but, overlook those and it's a really enjoyable thriller, just far enough off the normal cops and robbers model, to make it novel.

Looking forward to the next series - just a shame we have to wait until 2017.

Wooden, contrived and poorly scripted
2 September 2015
I was quite looking forward to this series, it seemed like it had much potential. However, it's been distinctly disappointing.

The script is so weak it makes the actors look wooden and melodramatic. And the whole thing takes itself far too seriously. None of the characters appear to have any sense of humour whatever, and I've yet to see any of them actually smile. In fact, none of the characters are likable or convincing.

The plots are terribly contrived and motives appear extremely dubious. Everything about it it is stereotyped and often plain daft (but not funny daft). Giant leaps of faith are necessary to keep watching.

All in all, a bit of a waste.

Did nothing for me
15 January 2015
I hadn't heard of this film when I and my wife decided to watch it on Sky a couple of days ago and I was stunned when I heard today it was up for multiple Oscars.

We couldn't make it past about 40 minutes - it literally did nothing for us at all. It just seemed dull, awkward and a bit too arty at the expense of plot.

I don't mind films starting slow and laying the foundations for the characters and the plot. But this film just didn't appear to be offering me any incentive to stick with it.

Maybe we were missing something. Or maybe this is one of those films you're supposed to like even if you don't

Very Cheesy
21 September 2013
Aside from Reynolds, the acting in this film is pretty mediocre. The dialogue is one dimensional as are the characters. None of it is helped by it being dubbed.

Aside from a few notable exceptions, Spaghetti westerns do little for me. From the unrealistic gunshot sounds and stereotyped characters to the over acting and obvious story lines, they are generally low quality products. This Western is not one of the exceptions. I have a feeling that the growth in Spaghetti Westerns was one of the main reasons that Westerns virtually died out.

It isn't the worst film I've seen, not even the worst Western. But it's certainly not one I'd bother with again.
