Flags of Our Fathers (2006)
Good Reflections on War and Heroes
A World War II era picture which focuses on the human story of the battle and the photograph that became a rallying point for the nation late in the war. It contrasts the hype versus the reality and how, even back then, it was 'short attention span theater' in regard to the general public.
The war footage is every bit as graphic as Saving Private Ryan.
But, with the early reviews out there it really makes you wonder if we want to see realistic war movies. In a huge theater, I was one of ten people watching.
Recommended.

Gospel Road: A Story of Jesus (1973)
Great Music - On location - Doesn't push the envelope...
Johnny and June Carter Cash financed this film which is a traditional rendering of the Gospel stories. The music is great, you get a real feel of what the world of Jesus looked like (I've been there too), and June gets into the part of Mary Magdalene with a passion. Cash's narration is good too.
But....
1. The actor who played Jesus was miscast. 2. There is no edge to the story like Cash puts in some of his faith based music. 3. Because it is uncompelling, I doubt we'll see this ever widely distributed again.
I'd love to buy the CD.
