Teen Titans Go! (2013)
Really hilarious is you can take a joke.
This is a stupid funny series. I get why fans of the teen titans series could hate this, but Teen Titans had its own issues. This is a comedy that just does whatever it likes. I hate crossovers, but the Power Puff Girls episode was great. They teach horrible lessons (like growing old) while still having a good message in the sarcasm. They even go as far as to make fun of themselves by comparing this series to the older much better drawn ones. The whole Gilligan's Island parody was so fun. If you need a laugh watch this show. If you thought that Teen Titans was a bit too much melodrama at times then you will love the ones where they make fun of that (the most recent one I watched they lip synced over the whole first episode of Teen Titans and had Robin fixated on capes).
Le magasin des suicides (2012)
An Idiot's guide to Suicide
I really wanted to like this, and constantly told myself things like,"Cheap flash animation is still impressive for how much work and time it takes",or"music even if bland and boring still takes time to make". I thought perhaps the writer was depressed and in his/her own journey to deal with depression found salvation in making this story. The problems is in the end this is a very very simplistic, shallow, naive, and patronizing story at best. Suicide is not a thing that should ever be put on a pedestal or idolized, but for some people that are terminal the right to ends one life should not be demonized either, but treated with the extreme finality it is. Knowing three friends over the years that had killed themselves, this movie was just disgusting and highly insulting. This movie just had the bitter aftertaste of someone's agenda based on their own dogma and delusions of grandeur, yeah suicide is not the answer, I get if. I personally don't believe in suicide, but I sure as hell wanted the movie to die of some causes very early in.
synopsis of movie: Just smile, everything will be alright.
N!Ai, the Story of a !Kung Woman (1981)
Wonderful and dark story of the !Kung people.
I have watched this a couple of times, it may be slightly biased to a minor degree in looking at their past culture through a simplified lens, but then again the time it was filmed there was such a bias against natives from this part of the world that it doesn't matter. The story follows the young lady N!ai from a child while the !Kung still had a more or less undamaged culture. You see her dealing with life and forming her own views. Like Seven Up it follows her and thus her tribe in to the modern times (the behind the film scene from "The Gods Must be Crazy" was so damn funny). It is a deep and touching piece done by some amazing people. If you like Seven Up or films like it, this is a must see. Full of ambivalence, scenes like the visiting missionary were both sickening, sad, and laughable.
Madangeul naon amtak (2011)
Heavy handed, bland, and basic, not for children above 7.
People seem to think this is original, but it is much like Doggie Poo and the English dubbing is painful at best. I really wanted the hen to get killed off pretty early on. She is pretty much a very dim stalker. I watched it and just thought of movies like Single White Female. As far as being more real, not at all, you want a hardcore animation, Watershed Down, Plague Dogs, When the Wind Blows, or any number or movies. This one was very basic and half though out. I had chickens far braver than this one and far smarter. This movie just bugged me on so many levels. It was like "are you my mom" but if the mom had no clue if she was, or like the ugly duckling if the duckling's mother was a psycho chicken. Young kids may like it, but nothing was good in this film other than some animation. There is far better Korean animation out there. Also I just watched Song of the Sea and I was a bit sad during parts of it, but this movie had me looking at the clock and never once felling any emotion (and as I said I had both chickens and ducks as a kid and think there were fun to have around).
Bones: The Shot in the Dark (2013)
Death defined by heart beat.
Episode is just plain awful. It really does not deserve more than this. If you liked 8.9 you will love this one. If you are a shark, put on your jumping headgear protection.
That is the end of the review. I am forced to put 10 lines for a review IMDb says. Great now I am being forced to put more effort in to the review of the show than they put in to the episode its self. That was seven lines. This is eight. This episode was horrid. Bones hearts Jesus. That should have been 10 lines, but it seems I was a little short, argh this episode was bad. Really? I have to add one more line? Here, hope this is ten lines now.
Mermaids: The Body Found (2011)
Argee with all but the mermaid lady review, it is horrid
Was doing some work when my fair lady put this on. It seemed like it was serious, and we could not find any info in the guide saying otherwise. I logged in here to find that Animalplanet was playing it like it was real to get more viewers. This is in poor taste and I have lost massive amounts of respect for this channel...then again I don't watch it much so perhaps they always play crud like this. Poor acting, poor cgi, poor plot (really mermaids with nets and spears? Where do they put them?), and poor photo-shopping skills on all the "proof" images. THe acting is over the top, but nowhere as bad as the music choice that tries its best to pull you in but makes you want to rip your ears off.
House M.D.: 5 to 9 (2010)
Cliché's away!
I love the actors and the series...but this was just one long cliché. Showing Cuddy as a supermom and a cliché House in the background. There are some good moments in the episode, but it is not House, it is a bit of a Jump the Shark...what if House was Not House my some other show...you know the ones you do not watch...because you are watching House. I would love to be a writer and I would love to know how bad episodes like this make it past the person who wrote it getting fired on the spot. This is really not a House episode...just some good actors in a lame series. I would have liked to have left it at that, but I need ten lines, so this last sentence is just for that.
Stargate Universe: Time (2009)
Horrible Cliché' Time Travel episode.
Not too much of a spoiler here other than to say, wow, time travel with in the first 8 episodes, way to go. I have always found that time-travel plots can be the flat out worst of all sci-fi stories, usually done when they can't figure out where to go next. They basically land on a planet of Stargate like bugs while they have a fever and then start watching video of them talking for minutes on end from their non-real future selves. Nothing was really learned other than they have horrible microscopes and are most likely one of the worst crews ever to go out in space.
Did I mention I hate time travel. Time travel episodes only work when they have fun with them or try and be unique. This is so cliché', it actually cause a bend in space time and went back in time and created the term cliché.
House M.D.: Fetal Position (2007)
Pro-life...anti-plot
I am fine with profile stuff...but this episode is not true to any characters, there is no risk, it is all roses. Upto this point (from Season 1 to 3) this is nearly the most cliché' and least well written...with the exclusion of the poor way they did the evil cop...oh and every time House mentions things being "evil" when he does not believe in "evil". I don't want to have to throw spoilers in, so let me just say this, if you are pro-life, but also pro-story arc you will not like this episode, if you are pro-life and hope for House to find pro-life, you will like this episode, if you are pro-choice you will hate this episode. It is a bit of the old shark jumping moment (not in the term of the series, but in the term of the episode...since you can do a single shark jump episode).
