No One Lives (2012)

If a bigger studio released this film, it would have 3 sequels!
25 October 2023
I wouldn't begin to spoil any of it! It's just fun! Watch it! It's a new take on the "slasher/serial killer" genre and you will be all in for it! It begins with a "M Night Shyamalan level" twist at the very beginning which leads to a film full of mayhem and fun. There is gore here but it's largely justified. The movie is surprisingly well acted and craftily directed. Its pacing is perfect, it keeps the action moving and it doesn't find time to pad anything.so not many wasted scenes here.

If the film had been poured out by paramount or WB with a big name director and some big named actors there would be 2 squalls and a expanding franchise that rivals "Saw" and others.

Great adaptation that will fit into the current MCU!

Gerat show. So far, bringing some much needed fun into the MCU by introducing a great character that is true to the spirit of the great John Byrne's comic arc. Can't wait to see where this leads!

The Empty Man (2020)

This film will go down as a cult hit
9 June 2021
The movie suffers from a few set backs right out of the gate: First, the title. It gives people the impression it's a trope filled "Candy man" Type rip off, but I assure you it's not. Second: The length, it's a long movie (well, a little long) the movies pace kind of suits it and it's engaging enough to where you don't notice. I won't get into a review, I'll just say, when this movie drops on streaming and people Can absorbs it properly. The movie takes some chances and pulls almost all of it off. It's a huge pleasant horror/thriller surprise.

Just remember this review TOLD YOU SO.

This show is actually better then its getting credit for

In a shadowy world a shadowy man emerges from the dark and absolutely becomes a hero. I wont write a review. I just watched the show in awe while it effortlessly handles the tone shift in the 2nd half of the series, its masterful. The acting all around is brilliant and the set/costume designs are wonderful ... thats all i'll say, its a must watch

Compelling and Drama. Brilliant performances
21 August 2015
This is a completely compelling and gripping drama that successfully explores an event from all the sides involved. As the story unfolds the viewer gets introduced to what at first seems like a lot of desperate groups of people, the first being the protagonist. We are introduced as the episodes unfold to not only the antagonist but we actually get introduced to the characters who the event actually effects. So for once we get to see how effects of decisions made actually effect the characters lives directly as opposed to them them just being theoretical of just facts or figures. Thats the only way I can describe it without spoilers. Spoilers would not be fair to this great production.

The acting is top notch. Some of the character actors in this production who we've all seen in things in the past actually shine here and do their best work. I guarantee that 20 minutes into the first episode you are hooked. Once you gather who the players are you really get sucked in.

A solid cable TV police show
14 August 2015
Solid cable TV police procedural that takes place with San Francisco as the backdrop. Entertaining and fast paced with believable characters. Some of the standard cop show tropes remain but no TV cop show is without some. Speaking mainly about season 2 which was a bit deeper then season one as part of the season deals with a mass shooting and its effects on a community and at least tries to present a scenario of how or why it would happen. The show does a yeoman's service of unveiling the season's story arc all the while introducing secondary stories that ultimately intertwine with the main season story arc. Its done in a straight forward fashion while avoiding too much predictability. In other words its not an "A,B,C" procedural like "Law and order" but its not a extremely hidden clue mystery like "True Detective" which I think makes the payoff and resolution at the end of the season a lot more satisfying. its a good binge watch (which is how i viewed it) it seemed a lot more satisfying watching it in that fashion. I think the show's "Bochco-isms" are apparent in the way the police struggle with personal issues while they tackle the dilemma of "brothers in blue" versus doing the legal good and how that often still opposes the moral good.
