Very disappointing

Very clumsy, amateurish, missing all targets. It is not a comedy, thriller, soft porn or a horror - not even a spoof. First few minutes were not that bad, but it went down like a lead balloon quickly. One would be much better served watching an episode of "Twilight Zone". This one does not deserve your time.

Stop complaining about Game of Thrones ending...
1 December 2019
I really liked the series, thoroughly enjoyed first five episodes, anticipating an explosive season finale. Well, after watching the last episode I'm not quite sure whether it was a good idea to watch the show at all. I was watching the last episode and hoping, hoping, hoping that there is still enough time left for satisfying (not necessarily happy) end to the story. Never happened. Well - not only there was no reckoning doled up to the bad guys, but the good guys ended up in the way which was not acceptable to me - especially the lady detective. So - be ready for severe disappointment when deciding to spend six hours watching the series, however the first five episodes were really a good watch.

Too complex for majority of everyday's spoon-fed shallow TV

Honestly - this series deserves better than hopeless howling en masse. After reading few reviews, I almost gave up on the show before even sampling it. Now, after watching all 10 episodes - I sincerely wish that the series continue (3 seasons were intended). It's old-style sci-fi (look back at "Battlestar Galactica', "Alien" etc.), with complicated twists, story line jumps back frequently - not for people who want to watch TV with their smart phone browsing Facebook or some other mush at the same time. If you ever appreciated Asimov-style sci-fi - you'll find something to like watching "Another Life". Surely - it's not the pinnacle of TV making, there is something "borrowed" now and then - but it's not intelligence insulting, acting is solid and story line is interesting, production and SFX are good. I'm an old sci-fi fan, watching sci-fi TV/movies and reading books since mid-sixties - and IMHO you can do way worse than watching "Another Life". And Katee Sackoff gives you the reason to check this out, if not anything else - she's great, as always.

Shame on you, CBS!
16 January 2018
This show may be to one's liking - or may be not, it's a matter of personal preference. I liked the show, that's why I persevered watching it, week by week - all 13 eps. Few weeks ago it became known that the series are being cancelled after the first season - ratings were not that great, but it was not the deciding factor (as everybody knows by now, CBS made the call right after sexual harassment allegations were made against the star of the show, Jeremy Piven). What I want to communicate in this review (one may call it a rant) - if you have not started watching the series - don't bother. There was no conclusion, no closing of any kind - total disrespect for viewers (I understand that 7.4 mln people were watching it, on average, in US only). The series revolves about the murder of Mia, a multi-billionaire's daughter - who's focus in life becomes to find her killer. His team is edging closer to get the answer, bit by bit - one may expect this will come to the fruition by the end of the season. Alas, we come away empty handed. The last episode (S01E13) is just another "monster of the week" story, with main theme (Mia's killer) almost completely ignored and left open-ended. It is such a disappointment, you feel cheated and disrespected. It's hard, in this situation, to rate the series objectively - but I know that I want to rate CBS 0/10 - this is not the first time they've done it, actually.

Waiting for something to happen...
8 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This film is classified as a "thriller" or "psychological thriller". Waiting for the thrills lasted right till the very end of the movie. Bad script, slow and confusing at the best. Call me a moron, but I still don't know who the bad guy was (or was there one?), and what was happening with the main character. They've thrown everything in, including prescription drugs in her bag, prescription drugs given to her, mental illness, hypnosis, some kind of Chilean voodoo, possession, sleepwalking, more prescription drugs... And - BEWARE OF REAL SPOILER HERE - she dies, and we don't know what has killed her! Come credits and realization that it was a really bad way to spend the evening.

Very disappointing
8 January 2013
I have read quite few reviews of this movie - to my surprise, there were mostly good. So, I'm the odd one out - I hated this movie, it disappointed me to the fullest. Having seen all previous "Universal Soldier" movies, I was hoping for well written, action packed, full of stunt work and SFX movie, which would be going back to 1992 original(the only good U/Soldier movie out of six so far). Not so, JVC was ridiculous in white/black bald head make-up, the plot was confusing at the best, add bad sequencing and some below average acting - this was 102 minutes wasted. And this bloody strobe -effects, it was driving me nuts (same goes for antiquated psychedelic sound effects which remind me of early sci-fi flix like "Barbarella". For JVC's fans - this is a rather bad effort, see "Expendables 2" or even "6 Bullets" to get your JVC fix.
