Emily in Paris (2020)
THIS IS SO BAD IT HURTS
This show is so bad it hurts my feelings. It hurts my hears, it hurts my eyes, it hurts my nerves. Everything is so stereotyped it's even fun to think they weren't intended to make a comic show out of it. The representation of France and French people is so diminishing (and I'm not even French). The high couture thing is so out of context. I mean: she has a million dollars wardrobe and a newcomers in her job?! Really. How do I apply to get such a well paid starter position?!
I didn't even have to go to the end of the first ep to see where the show was going... but I did, and IT HURTED MY FEELINGS.
The Umbrella Academy (2019)
it's not about the powers, it's about humans.
Bingewatched this whole series as soon as I got a Netflix account. So glad I put on the first ep. because after that I could not stop.
I loved each and everyone of the characters..... IF we agree to let Ellen Page out of this discussion.
I came here to read other people comments because I felt like a lot of people loved Vanya... and I was a bit lost. Happy to see that there's someone who thought the same I did, that is that's she's constantly playing the same character. Depressed little thing with weepin eyes and depressed face.
I didn't enjoy neither I felt for her character. At all.
NEVERTHELESS the show was brilliant, and her dull performance couldn't put a shadow on the wholesome writing and the perfect use of soundtrack/music.
.
What I LOVED the most was the fact that they choose to portayed very HUMAN beings. Instead of powerful dudes, they really seems just as kids, who needs confort and are lost to this world the same way I or you could be.
This was very magical and well portrayed by the actors, which were brilliant.
Robert Sheehan was just born for the role; he's a magical and wholesome human being who makes the perfect match with both David (who plays Diego) and Justin (Ben).
i also appreciated Tom Hopper, who's really a good actor to be such a nice human portraying someone so annoying.
.
What I also liked is how the powers they have actually embody an imperfection of their character (or Gerard Way's or anyone else's):
Luther is so clumsy due to his big body and so is anyone who doesn't feel all right in his own skin.
Diego is really direct and sharp like a knife, to protect his warm and sensible core. He really is (with Klaus) the heart of the family, and for this reason he can't forgive who he thinks betrayed him & he's always there to help who in need.
Alison is a queen, but her powers show the need to be acknowledged and loved. she's bond to perfection and to be flawless she falls in temptation.
Klaus is abusing drugs, because he can't put a stop to the voices on his head.
Number five thinks is always ahead of others, and for this he ended up alone in another universe.
