America 3000 (1986)
It's so bad, it's good.

I just love watching silly movies like this. It is set in the future but is in the past in two ways. Firstly, as they are living a very basic life and when they do discover newer technology, it's 1980's technology. I wonder how these people were born since there is no interaction between males and females. I like the costumes and the silly expressions like "going cold" if someone is dying. I don't quite know where the ape man fits into all of this but I guess he is just comic relief (As if a movie like this needs any). I didn't see how they got the food and water they needed. They didn't live in a very fertile land area. I noticed that the leader of the men could read, again I wonder how he learned to do that. There are so many questions but it was all good fun.

Blank Slate (2008 TV Movie)

Not bad but no one has seen it.

I watched this movie when it came on TV this evening and being a sucker for B TV movies, I thought the concept was very interesting. The characters had a depth not usually found in this type of movie and the acting was above average. It was well paced and kept the story moving along. I thought the script was excellent with good subtle snippets of information for the viewer to absorb. Perhaps it was a little cheesy in places but this is one of the attractions of this type of movie. I actually thought it could make an interesting TV series. Well worth a rental if anyone gets the chance. Looking by the number of voters and the lack of reviews here on IMDb, it looks like very few have seen it, which is a shame.

A good way to spend an afternoon.

I have just recently stumbled across this movie on a cable TV channel here in Thailand. As I have always been interested in the Beatles, I was curious to see how John Lennon's early life panned out. I have to say I really enjoyed the film. The performances of most of the cast were excellent. Notably, Phillip McQuillan as John, but especially Jamie Glover as Brian Epstein. I thought his portrayal of a man battling his career and sexual orientation in those times was outstanding. It was not a sycophantic opinion of John Lennon. It showed him as a lovable rogue and many times just as a rogue. The movie moved along at a brisk pace, which kept the interest high. For me it was a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon well spent.
